| Abstract: | This paper demonstrates with several staining methods that there is only one gonadotrophio cell of pituitary gland in Epinephelus akaara. Number of secretory granules in the cytoplasm of this type cell gradually increase with gonadal development and maturation. During the maturation of gonad, the cytoplasm of the gonadotrophic cell shows full secretory granules, and the positive response to aldehyde fuchsin and PAS. The physiological characteristics of this cell are as follows: during mature gonad and spawning, the cytoplasm of the gonadotrophic cell begins vacuolation, which shows the sign of the secretory activity of this cell, and also the physiological reaction to LH-RH-A.
Finally, we discuss the relationship between the gonadotrophic cell of the pituitary gland with gonadal development. |
