| Abstract: | An implicit solution procedure for the wave equation form of the shallow water equations is presented. Efficiency is achieved through a Taylor expansion procedure applied to a time-varying matrix. This procedure allows matrix decompositions to be replaced by back substitutions. Isoparametric quadratic Lagrangian finite elements are employed for the spatial discretization. The Taylor expansion method is compared to different implicit and explicit solution procedures in an application to the southern part of the North Sea. |
