Abstract: | A three-dimensional model is developed for describing the long-term evolution of the mantle convection with six continents,
which includes the formation and breakup of a supercontinent. In contrast to the theory of floating continents Trubitsyn,
2000; 2008], in which the drift was calculated from a system of convection equations for the mantle and the Euler equations
for the continents, in the present work the continental motion is described in terms of a set of floating markers, which have
anomalously high viscosity and are driven by the currents. |
