Abstract:The Ms 8.0 earthquake occurred in Wenchuan of Sichuan province on May.12,2008. On the base of the ionospheric occultation data from COSMIC system, we analyzed the max electronic density of ionospheric F2 layer(NmF2) over seismic preparation zone from April to the end of May. It was found that NmF2 was calm during April, but there was evidently negative anomaly during the 7 days around earthquake occurring.Having eliminated other factors, we think that these anomalies were probably caused by the generation of earthquake.
