摘    要:作者根据位错模型导出了震级不仅与震中烈度和震源深度有关,而且与极震区面积有关。震中烈度通过应力降和震级联系起来,而极震区面积则通过位错面的面积或震源体积和震级联系起来,使震级与烈度的物理联系更加明确。 用我国的61个浅源地震资料,用逐步回归方法计算出震级M与震中烈度I0、极震区面积(面积单位为平方公里)A0的关系为: M=3.53+0.039I02+0.0178(Ig A03,还分别计算出震级与6-8度区面积A6、A7、A8的关系为: M=3.63+0.72 Ig A6, M=5.34+0.718(Ig A7)·(IgIg A7), M=5.92+0.104(Ig A82。并外推出震级与5度区面积A5的关系为: M=3.03+0.72 Ig A5。 利用这些关系式来确定历史地震震级比仅考虑震中烈度来确定有较好的效果。

Abstract:With the aid of the dislocation model, the authers have obtained a result that magnitude of an earthquake is related not only to the epicentral intensity and the depth of focus, but also to the size of the magistoseismic area. The epicentral inten-sity is linked with the magnitude through the stress-drop, while the size of the magistoseismic area through the size of the dislocation plane or the volume of the earthquake focus, thus the physical relation between the magnitude and intensity has become clearer.Using the data of 61 shallow focus earthquakes occured in our country, and by employing the method of successive regression we have found out that the statistical relation between magnitude M, epicentral intensity I0 and the size of magistoseismic area A0 isM = 3.53 + 0.039 I02 + 0.0178 (Ig A0)3and that the relations between the magnitude M and A6, A7 and As, the size of the areas of intensity 6, 7 and 8 respectively, are:.M = 3.63 + 0.72 Ig A6,M = 5.34 + 0.718 (Ig A7) (Ig Ig A7),M = 5.92 + 0.104 (Ig A8}2, and alsoM = 3.03 + 0.72 Ig A5Here A5 is the size of the area of intensity 5 and this relation is obtained by extra-polation. (Here the units of areas are all km2)The above relations can give better result in determining the magnitude of his-torical earthquakes than considering only the epicentral intensity.
