| Abstract: | Main differences are considered in the formation of physical and mechanical ice properties in hummocky formations as compared
with level areas of the ice cover. The results of laboratory and field investigations demonstrate that these differences are
caused both by dynamometamorphic transformations of crystal ice structure as a result of the compression of ice fields before
the beginning of hummocky ice formation and in the process of consolidation of ice blocks within the ice hummocks formed during
the winter-spring period. |
