| Abstract: | The engineering geological investigation related to restoration works carried out in order to preserve ancient monuments and their functional incorporation into presentday urban planning became an important part of the engineering geological program in Slovakia sponsored by the state authorities. The realization of this program yielded valuable information on the geological causes of failures on buildings under various natural conditions in the central European moderate humid zone; moreover, valuable experience with methods of engineering geological investigation was gained. |
