Abstract: | Analytical studies on the inelastic behaviour of concentrically braced steel frames for low-rise buildings are described in this paper. The bracing members which provide energy dissipation were used to provide information on the ductility levels that are likely to occur under differing levels of earthquake excitation. An indication of the relative performance of cross bracing is provided in terms of suitable SM values for use in the seismic provisions of New Zealand loadings code NZS 4203. |
