摘    要:主要根据1992年8月中国科学院南海海洋研究所和香港理工大学合作进行的“南海环流试验”的调查资料,并引用中国科学院南海海洋研究所1982年7月、1985年8月在南海东北部的调查资料、黑潮合作调查(CSK)的资料,通过温、盐度分布特征的分析,并结合动力计算结果,指出夏季在南海东沙群岛北侧存在着一偏西向海流,它的流动路径与文献5-7]中所说的南海黑潮分支的流动路径显著不同。对夏季南海海流的三维数值模拟也得到了相似的结果。

Abstract:In previous studies it has been derived that direction of the surface current is generally the same as that of the prevailing southwesterly monsoon wind in summer over the northern South China Sea (SCS) and the only westward flow in summer in the SCS branch of Kuroshio south of the Dongsha Islands. During our crulse in August 1992, a mooring buoy deployed north of the Donsha lslands outside the continental shelf of northeastern SCS found another stable westward flow between 50m and 200m. This finding was also supported by the ADCP data and the distribution of obtained during this cruise. Besides, a westward flow outside the continental shelf is also identifiable from the observed current data obtained by a mooring buoy deployed west of the Dongsha Islands by SCSIO in Angust 1985, as wel from the calculated geostrophic currents based on two sections at both sides of the Dongsha Islands obtained by SCSIO in July 1982 and on the sections west of the Dongsha Island obtained from three China Sea Kuroshio cruises in 1966, 1970 and 1971. The path of this northwestwrd summer flow is different from that of the SCS branch of Kuroshio as has been indicated by references (5 - 7). A three dimensional numerical model simulation of the summer seaconal mean current of SCS confirms similar results.
