| Abstract: | By comparing the fluctuations of mountain glaciers worldwide during the last 100 years, authors discover that, under the tendency of their general retreat, readvances of mountain glaciers were more obvious and the times of that increased with latitude, but in the mid-lati-tude,readvances were less obvious an the times decreased with continental climate intensifying. There is a phase lag of about 12-13 years for glacier advance to climatic change in the Northern Hemisphere. Under climate becoming warmer in the future, the mountain glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere will mostly retreat by the end of the century. |
