Abstract:To determine and remove the systematic errors in data of each survey line of marine gravity and geomagnetic network, i. e. to do network adjustment, this theorietical study presents some results:1. Statistical principles were applied to set up an equation system to determine the systematic errors in each line of a survey network from the discrepanees at its cross-over points, as described by (4) and (6) in this paper. 2. The equation system was proved to be identical to that set up by using the least-square method to adjust the network to get its best accuracy. 3. This equation system has an infinite number of solutions, with the differenee in values between two solutions being a constant for every line, as described by (14). 4. Also, it is indicated that one, and only one, additional control condition is needed to make the solution unique. 5. A useful control condition, called F-minimum condition, described by (20), is recommended in this paper. The unique solution under this condition is given in the formulas (25), (26) and (27).
