| Abstract: | This paper presents the characters of geology, petrology and geochemistry for the Proterozoic ophiolite suite in southern Anhui. The ophiolite is composed of metamorphic peridotite, accumulative gabbro and the upper-seated basic volcanic rock series. Metamorphic peridotite is rich in Fe2O3, SiO2 and incompatible elements, such as K, Rb, Sr, Ba, but poor in A12O3 and CaO,and slightly depleted in LREE. All this implies that the ancient mantle presumably underwent high degree of partial melting and significant metasomatic enrichment. The upper-seated volcanic rocks belong to the calc-alkaline series and formed in the island arc environment indicated by their geochemical characters. |
