| Abstract: | Climatic data for 1954 - 1990 at 47 stations over Cuangdong are used to calculate the anomaly potterns of temperature (T), precipitation (R) and sunshine (S) by means of an empirical orthogonal functions (EOF), and their time series are statistically analysed. The results show that: 1) the first eigenvecter of each element contains more than 50% of the total variance and describes the anomalous change Pattern with same Phase over the whole area. In the cross correlations of elements only that between R and S is significantly negative; 2) the variations of T and R show some periodicity (the first period is 7 years and 11 years respectively), while that of S has a linear trend (linear decreasing during the period 1954-1990). Their persistence (described by perisistence ratio) is not statistically significant; 3) the variations of all elements,especially T, have some relation to the anomaly of tropical atmosphere and ocean (discused with SOI and SST in the paper). |
