| Abstract: | Effects of dynamical friction have been studied in a head-on collision between two galaxies. The galaxies are represented by Plummer's model of various masses and scale lengths. Analytical expressions are obtained for changes in the binding energies of the galaxies due to the tidal effects and numerical results are given for various pairs of colliding galaxies. |
