This paper gives the results of our photometric observations of ζ Aur during its 1979/80 eclipse in 6 narrow wave bands and in the UBV colours. Useful data were obtained on 31 nights covering all phases of the eclipse. Our narrow band observations enable us to determine accurately the times of the second and third contacts, and hence a new formula for the epoch Minl = JD 2444219.643+972.176E. Our observations clearly show that eclipse depth increases with decreasing wavelength. Observations in the 3940 A band agrees with the variation in the spectral K-line of Ca II in showing a high chromosphere activity during this period. Our UBV results agree well with previous measurements.
