| Abstract: | Man-made earthquake is one of the important methods to investigate deep crustal tectonics. First, the progress and prospect in deep seismic sounding (DSS) of the crust and upper-mantle in China are outlined in this paper. Then, the great developments in exploring technique of DSS, observation instrumentation, data collection system, methods of data processing and inversing, as well as the major results concerning the characteristics of the crustal velocity structure, the features and shape of the Moho discontinuity, crustal thickness, properties and distribution of deep great ruptures are also discussed in detail. Finally, the paper points out the prospects of DSS in the future. |
