| Abstract: | A new code has been used to simulate the formation of elliptical galaxies via a dissipationless collapse by a numerical experiment. Preliminary results of numerical simulations are presented for initial 2T/|W| conditions ranging from 10–2 to 10–5. The importance of inhomogeneity in the initial density distribution and of merging is outlined.Paper presented at the 11th European Regional Astronomical Meetings of the IAU on  New Windows to the Universe , held 3–8 July, 1989, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. |
