Abstract: | The structure and physical conditions in 104 coronal mass ejections (CMEs) with a clear-cut leading shock front have been
considered using satellite data for 1996–2008. In 99% of cases, the action of increased shock front dynamic pressure on the
Earth’s magnetosphere resulted in the origination of geomagnetic storms with sudden commencement. |
