| Abstract: | Thepresent paper has comprehensively reviewed the state of art of symmetricinstability theory and its application to mesoscale meteorology.Here is its part 1 whichrnainly deals with the linear theorv.It includes the svmmetric instability in the boundand boundless atmosphere under the condition of hvdrostatic and non-hvdrostaticequilibrium,the two-dimensional viscous svmmetric instabilitv and the svmmetricinstability in a moist atmosphere. |
