| Abstract: | Seasonal and annual wind stress fields for the South China Sea have been computed from the wind rose data compiled in the Climatic Atlas of Chinese Off-shore Areas andNorthwest Pacific published by the Ocean Press in 1982, 480 wind roses constructed from 348,670wind reports are involved in the present study. The distribution features and-the seasonal variation of the wind stress fields over the South China Sea are revealed. The present result will be useful for further studies on the circulation and the ari-sea interaction in the South China Sea. |
