| Abstract: | The guluronic acid- rich alginate, extracted from immature and mature Scytosiphon lomentarius, were studied by 1H-NMR. Based on the G/M ratio analysis, the disaccharide fragments (FMM, FMG, FGM, and FGG) and trisaccharide fragments (FGGG, FGGM, FMGM and FMGG) were further analyzed with 1H-NMR, respectively. The result shows that the total contents of guluronic acid and the fine structure of polysaccharides in immature and mature S. lomentarius were different. The G/M ratio were 4.34 and 7.14, FGG ratio 0.73 and 0.84, and the FGGG ratio 0.68 and 0.81 in the immature and mature S. lomentarius, respectively. The mature S. lomentarius that has a high content of polyguluronic acid is a good resource for polysaccharide extraction. |
