| Abstract: | From July, 1993 to December, 1995, an investigation of molluscan fauna in the coastal area of Penglai City was carried out. Penglai is located at 37 25'N37 49'56" N and 120 34'44," E-121 09' E, with a coast of 86.3 Km long. The maximum average water surface temperature is 23.2 c, the minimunl being 0.96 C.All the specimens collected were examined and a total of 111 species w.ere identified, belonging to 86 genera and 49 families. A detailed list of these is given.According to the limits of distribution, the Penglai molluscan fauna may be divided into the following three groups. (1) forty-seven species are distributed from the north to the south of the Chinese seas. (2) Fifty-six species are found in the Bohai Sea and the Huanghai Sea. (3) Eight species are found in the north of theHuanghai Sea. |
