摘    要:依据湖北恩施太阳河灯草坪奥陶系—志留系剖面的生物地层学和岩石学的研究,该剖面的沉积间断发生在Paraorthograptus pacificus带至Coronograptus cyphus带之间,共缺失5个笔石带。奥陶系、志留系之间黏土岩矿物分析显示,在奥陶系、志留系之间出现有高岭土,推断在其间可能上升为陆地。具体演变...

ON THE ORDOVICIAN-SILURIAN DEPOSITIONAL HIATUS AT TAIYANGHE,ENSHI,HUBEI PROVINCE

Abstract:A depositional hiatus of five graptolite zones,between the Paraorthograptus pacificus Biozone and the Coronograptus cyphus Biozone,is recognized based on biostratigraphical and lithological evidence at the Dengcaoping Ordovician-Silurian Section,Taiyanghe,Enshi,Hubei Province.The abundance of kaolinitein the claystones between the Ordovician and the Silurian rocks implies that the study area had probably emerged above the sea level during the depositional hiatus.The geological processes befire and after this hiatus can be described as four steps: 1) before the P.pacificus Chron this area was submerged in anoxic or dysoxic sea waters,resulting in deposition of graptolite-bearing black shales;2) In the P.pacificus Chron(or earlier) uplift began,as a result,this area became a submarine highland where subaqueous erosion occurreed,both the bioturbation and sedimentary features in the shales indicate a moderate energy environment at this time;3) from the latest Ordovician to Aeronian this area continued to rise and probably became subaerially emerged;4) before or at the C.cyphus Chron,a rapid subsidence of this area resulted in a return to relatively deep marine conditions and deposition of the Lungmachi graptolite-bearing black shales.The sea level fall in this area is thought to be a related to the late Katian-early Hirnantian global regression and the continuous west to northwestward expansion of the Cathaysian Land.Further field work in the entire Yangtze platform will help to establish a more comprehensive depositional model during the Ordovician-Silurian transition.
