Abstract:Titanium metal enjoys the a good name of “the third metal” most probably due to its characteristic properites and wide utilization. For example, it is used in 90% of the total for manutacturing TiO 2 pigments and in lesser amount for space and aviation industry. Key mineral raw materials to recovering titanium metal are ilmenite and rutile, one ranking first in the world in terms of its reserve, with the concentrated ores fully meeting the meed of the domestic titanium sector while other is seriously short of resource, leading a great demand for it. Overal situation of the world titanium industry, however, is facing a framwork of supply surpassing demand.
