| Abstract: | The Sanjiang Plain is situated in northeast part of China. There are vast territories, rich resources and great potentiaties of production in the area. Due to the characterisitics of high latitude, sever climate (The lowest temperature is minus 44.5 degree Celsius), long freezing.
Marsh lands are well developed durins seasons in which the depth of freezing layer is 2-2.55 meters and richness in water resources. Road beds are soft and low, and with poor ability against frost. Therefore on the roads of 13500 kiliometes in this area, there are five types of serious frost heave of roads. The exiensive frost heave of roads is resulted from natural and artifical factors and leads to interrupt transportation usually. Following measures are taken to maintain running: raising road beds, changing soil, sand cushion, repairing road surface and draining.
There are long period of snow accumulation and therefore snow accumulation is thick, especially when snow drift causes traffic block in some particular section of the road. It is necessary to take some steps of protection and clearing out snow by people to maintain running vehicles. In some sections of the road on which waste water is discharged and spring water flow out ,the water is frozen while the water flow to cover the road surface. The road surface becomes ice surface to impede traffic, especially when rain is frozen into ice on road surface during early winter, it harms traffic and leads to accident. Removing ice and scatering sands to maintain traffic are necessary. |
