| Abstract: | The sustainability of resources and environment is essential to the sustainable development of the economy and the society. The geochemical research of resources and environment should be an important part of the study concerning the sustainable development of resource and environment. Geochemistry should not only probe into the detailed resource and environment problems in different subsystems of the sustainable development megasystem, but should also pay attention to the study on the interrelation and interaction of the subsystems and their processes and get involved in the establishment of the regional sustainable development model and corrsponding criteria. Therefore, the resource and environment geochemical research should nourish from economy and social sciences apart from the traditional research methodolgy of geology and geochemistry as well as earth system sciences. Guangdong Province, being a fast developing region in China , where industrialization and urbanization had given rise to severe resource and environment problems, is of practical importance to conduct resource and environment geochemical research. So far, the geochemical studies of resources and environment in Guangdong Province are being penetrated into various aspects of sustainable development research. |
