Abstract:This paper deals with the marine bivalves collected from the Carboniferous inDashitoujingou, Zhongning County, Ningxia Autonomous Region, and in Wuda town, Wuhai city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The bivalves contain 12 genera and 27species, including 3 new species as listed below: Sanguinolites ningxiaensis, Leptodesmashikongensis and Streblochondria dashitoujingouensis. The early Late Carboniferous (Namurian-Westphalian) bivalves are well-developed.This marine bivalve faunae includes 10 genera, among which Edmondia, Sanguinolites,Dunbarella, Posidoniella, Neocypricardinia, Astartella, Leptodesma etc. are more abundant. On the other hand, this bivalve assemblage is similar to that of West Europe and NorthAmerica of the same age. It is interesting that this bivalve faunae is rather different fromthat of Taiyuan, Shanxi of North China of the same age, but is very similar to that inJingyuan, Gansu and Gushi, Henan. There are a lot of common members between this faunae and that of the Shiqiantan Formation and the Qijiagou Formation in East SunggarNorth Tianshan. It shows that these areas of waters were connected with each other at thattime.
