| Abstract: | Fault orogenic belt is an important type of the continental tectonics.The
tial features of the fault orogenic belt are summarized from several examples of the fault orogenic belts with different ages-the long and narrow zone controlled by fault,the distinctive terrigenous clastic rocks with low maturity and bimodal volcanic association, strong thermodynamic metamorphism, superposition of multi-phasic and various structures, and prominent transverse inhomogeneity. In the light of the "opening-closing" stand point,fault orogenic belt can be divided into four stages: mantle uplift,basin formation,fold orogenesis and shear napping. The four stages constitute a complete fault orogenic cycle.The comparison of the fault orogenic cycles with different ages reflects the overall process of the continental crustal evolution. |
