3D finite element analysis of effect of concrete extruded curb on face slab |

Abstract: | As one of the advanced techniques in concrete-faced rockfill dam (CFRD) construction, concrete extruded curb has shown its advantages at many aspects. ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) is applied to analyzing of CFRD with extruded curb; and the contact between face slab and extruded curb is simulated by ANSYS node-to-surface contact method; especially the nonlinear combination element is set originally to deal with vertical joints and perimeter joints. For a hydropower station, the stress and deformation of dam and concrete face slab are computed respectively in two different cases: with extruded curb and without curb. The different results are compared to analyze the influence of extruded curb on face slab. |
