Abstract:The ground penetrating radar signal is a non-stationary signal,which is susceptible to the influence of interference noise that will reduce the detection ability.In order to eliminate the noise of radar signals,methods such as empirical mode decomposition(EMD),ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD),and complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition(CEEMD)are applied to radar data processing.Although the EMD has been continuously improved,it still has some shortcomings,such as being vulnerable to noise interference,modal aliasing,and relying on experience.Therefore,the authors adopt the variational mode decomposition(VMD)method to process the ground penetrating radar signal.The EMD,EEMD,CEEMD,and VMD algorithms are used to decompose the noisy signal synthesized by sine and cosine signals and Gaussian white noise.After analysis and comparison,it is proved that the VMD algorithm can avoid modal aliasing and has higher time frequency accuracy and resolution.The focus is on the processing of synthesized and measured signals.First,the signal is decomposed and the optimized IMF components are selected,and then the data is recombined to form a new image.After the final processing,the peak signal-to-noise ratio of the ground penetrating radar signal increased from 15.4 dB to 20.3 dB,and the underground stratification capability was significantly improved,achieving the desired effect.
