南极乔治王岛末次冰期以来的环境事件

摘    要:末次冰期以来环境演变事件为末次冰期冰盖扩张事件。南设德兰群岛当时为一相连的大岛,乔冶王岛上的冰川有可能来自南极半岛。全新世冰退模式和冰进事件表现为由统一冰盖分解成三个小冰帽,然后再逐渐消失。现冰川以每年约1.3m的速度后退。冰退之后地壳存在明显的均衡补偿抬升,表现为沿海地区发育了5—6级上升海岸阶地,现地壳以每年6—10mm的速率在抬升。

THE ENVIRONMENT EVENTS AT KING GEORGE ISLAND SINCE THE LAST GLACIATION

Abstract:There existed three environmental evolution events at King George Island during the last glaciation period. One of them was the extension of ice sheet during the last glaciation period. South Shedland Islands (including King George Island) were then a large unified island and the ice flow at King George Island might come from Antarctic peninsula. The other two events were the model of ice retreat and the ice advance during the Holocene. During the period of ice retreat, the ice sheet separated into several small ice caps and then disapeared gradually. The ice caps were in a relatively stable stage from the early 13th to the 18th century arid then in a rapidly retreating stage from the late 18th to the early 19th century. The retreating rate was about 163 m/100a during the retreating stage above, 30 m/100 a from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century and 133 m/100 a during the recent twenty years.During the Neoglaciation period from 3 000 to 2 000 a B. P., three ice caps developed at King George Island, ie. Collins, ice cap, north upland ice cap.and central upland ice cap. Some small troughs with the trend of northeast to southwest were formed by the erosion of ice flow crossing the large troughs shaped by the last glaciation. ' Meanwhile, loess-like till developed well in the same area.There were three little advances of small glacier trough of Collins ice cap during 1240 A. D., 1450 A. D. and 1720 A. D. accompanied with the whole global change.After the retreat of ice sheet at King Geoge Island the isostatic compensation is appeared in this area obviously in the form of 5—6 steps marine terraces. From T1—T3 are marine sedimentary terraces, from T4—T6 are marine erosion terraces. The 50 m (T5) terrace belongs to Holocene, and the 90 m terrace, the last glaciation. The uplift rate may be 6—10 mm/a.
