Abstract:On the basis of a statistical analysis on uranium minerogenetic epochs of the main volcanic rock belts in China, the existence of two major uranium mineralization periods in the same volcanic rock belt is presented, and each uranium mineralization period always is synchronous to an important tectono-magmatic thermal event which occurred along this belt in the geological history. The differences between two periods of uranium mineralizations are summarized and contrasted in geological conditions, mineralizaton characteristics and ore-froming mechanism. The uranium mineralization periods and metallogenetic prospects are analysed and forecasted in Mesozoic volcanic rock belt in the Greater and Lesser Xing'an Mountains and in the northern Gondise Mountain, Tibet. The criteria to further divide the volcanic type uranium mineralizations are proposed. In accordance with these criteria, the volcanic type uranium deposits in China are divided as well.
