摘    要:简要介绍了国际风沙会议(ICAR)的历史,评述了2002年在美国Lubbock召开的ICAR-5会议的主要成果,分析当前国际沙漠研究的热点领域和发展趋势。

Abstract:A joint meeting of the Fifth International Conference on Aeolian Research (ICAR-5) and the Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems-soil Erosion Network (GCTE-SEN) was held in Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas on July 22-25, 2002, and more than 130 scientists from 18 countries attended it. UK. The meeting attracted the physical and environmental scientists together to be interested in the new challenges and the discoveries in aeolian research. The meeting included 7 theme sessions: the Fundamental Processes, instrumentation/Measurement in Filed and Lab, Field Studies, Modeling, Environmental impacts and Erosion Control, Aeolian Paleoenvironments, and Dunes and Related Landforms. The meeting collected 136 papers in total. The authors summarized the main achievements of the conferences. Viewing from the ICAR-5, there are 4 hotspots in recent aeolian research, i.e., wind erosion modeling, instrumentation for aeolian research, response of aeolian processes to global change and dust storm dynamics. Furthermore, some prospects of aeolian research are put forward in this paper based on the ICAR-5.
