| Abstract: | Tourism destination marketing is an important aspect of tourism marketing.Because of the development of global tourism,no enough attention was paid to it until the 1990's.Based on the analysis of papers published in the last 10 years on Annals of Tourism Research and Tourism Management,the two major English journals in tourism field cited by SSCI,it was found that overseas studies on tourism destination marketing mainly involved three aspects:tourism destination image,tourism destination marketing organizations and the application of information technology to tourism destination marketing.As far as the whole process of development was concerned,overseas studies began with the study on tourism destination image and gradually extended to other aspects,such as tourism destination marketing organizations and the application of information technology to tourism destination marketing.Compared with the overseas studies,the studies in China experienced the similar process.But there are still many aspects to be strengthened,which include the application of empirical research methods,tourism destination positioning and branding,tourism destination marketing organizations,the application of information technology to tourism destination marketing and the evaluation of tourism destination marketing performance. |
