Abstract:To explore materials and objectives underwater,it is meaningful to reconstruct underwater Digital Elevation Model(DEM) with high spatial resolution by using multibeam sonar data.However,the spatial resolution of bathymetry data which directly obtained by the multibeam sonar system is limited.In this paper,a DEM reconstruction method based on bathymetry data and dense backscatter data was proposed.In this method,dense backscatter data was simulated by seabed reflection model and underwater topography parameters were derived from bathymetry data.The bathymetry data was repeatedly adjusted until the simulated backscatter data was close to the raw backscatter data with acceptable error.Finally,DEM was reconstructed by the bathymetry data.The results showed that this algorithm was superior to other common interpolation algorithm.The method provided the resolution to underwater DEM construction by using multi-beam sonar data.And it could be suitable for deep sea.
