Abstract:By use of the Topex/Poseidon radar altimeter data for 13 years,the time series of backscatter coefficient of Greenland ice sheet,the Amazon basin tropical forest and Congo tropical forest,Takla-Makan desert and Ubari-Murzuq sand sea in Libya,Siberian steppe and North Dakota temperate grassland are discussed.It is found that the time series of Ku and C wave bands and its difference reflect the relations between surface covering,climatic environment and backscatter coefficient.
