Previous studies have computed and modeled fluid flow through fractured rock with the parallel plate approach where the volumetric flow per unit width normal to the direction of flow is proportional to the cubed aperture between the plates, referred to as the traditional cubic law. When combined with the square root relationship of displacement to length scaling of opening-mode fractures, total flow rates through natural opening-mode fractures are found to be proportional to apertures to the fifth power. This new relationship was explored by examining a suite of flow simulations through fracture networks using the discrete fracture network model (DFN). Flow was modeled through fracture networks with the same spatial distribution of fractures for both correlated and uncorrelated fracture length-to-aperture relationships. Results indicate that flow rates are significantly higher for correlated DFNs. Furthermore, the length-to-aperture relations lead to power-law distributions of network hydraulic conductivity which greatly influence equivalent permeability tensor values. These results confirm the importance of the correlated square root relationship of displacement to length scaling for total flow through natural opening-mode fractures and, hence, emphasize the role of these correlations for flow modeling.  相似文献

厚层黄土中包气带水的运动方式一直存在争议。一种认为是活塞流,另一种认为是优势流,也有人认为两者并存。本文通过现场观测和两个模型试验,揭示活塞流是包气带中水分的特有的运移方式;基于非饱和土的土水特征,进一步证明优势流仅存在于饱和土中。自然界的黄土多处于非饱和状态,因此活塞流是黄土包气带中水的主要运移方式,而优势流是暂态和局部的,仅出现在降雨时期的浅层饱和区,或者低洼的汇水区。黄土中的垂直节理、卸荷裂隙、动物洞穴和植物根孔等优势通道是地表汇流的排水通道,而不是地下水的补给通道。  相似文献

The occurrence and significance of aqueous flow through fractures in unsaturated tuff was investigated at the Apache Leap Research Site near Superior, Arizona. Water samples for geochemical and isotopic analysis were collected from water seeping from fractures in a mine haulage tunnel, from the saturated zone in a vertical borehole (USW UZP-4), and from both the unsaturated and saturated zones in an angled borehole (DSB). The geochemistry and14C activity of water samples from the DSB suggest that most of the recharge to the saturated zone has occurred through fractures, especially beneath the ephemeral streams. Evidence of substantial recent recharge through fractures was found in saturated-zone samples from the mine haulage tunnel using 3H, δ34S and SO42−/Cl analyses. Evidence of partial imbibition of fracture flow into the rock matrix was found at multiple depths throughout the 147 m unsaturated zone at the DSB using geophysical measurements from the borehole, water-content analyses from core samples, and 14C and 3H analyses from pore water extracted from preserved core samples. Post-bomb 14C activity was measured in pore water near fractures just above the saturated zone.  相似文献

描述了一种计算裂隙多孔介质中变饱和渗流的广义等效连续体方法。这种方法忽略裂隙的毛细作用,设定一个与某孔隙饱和度相对应的综合饱和度极限值,并假定:(1)如果裂隙多孔介质的综合饱和度小于该极限值,水只在孔隙中存在并流动,而裂隙中则没有水的流动;(2)如果综合饱和度等于或大于该极限值,水将进入裂隙,并在裂隙内运动。分析比较了等效连续体模型的不同计算方法,并给出了一个模拟裂隙岩体中变饱和渗流与传热耦合问题的应用算例。结果表明,所述方法具有一般性,可以有效地模拟裂隙多孔介质中变饱和渗流的基本特征。  相似文献

离散裂隙网络模型(Discrete Fracture Network(DFN))是研究裂隙水渗流最为有效的手段之一。文章根据裂隙几何参数和水力参数的统计分布,利用Monte Carlo随机模拟技术生成二维裂隙网络,基于图论无向图的邻接矩阵判断裂隙网络的连通,利用递归算法提取出裂隙网络的主干网或优势流路径。基于立方定律和渗流连续性方程,利用数值解析法建立了二维裂隙网络渗流模型,分析不同边界条件下裂隙网络中的流体流动。结果表明,该方法可以模拟区域宏观水力梯度和边界条件下,裂隙网络水力梯度方向总的流量,以及节点的水位、节点间的流量和流动方向的变化特征,为区域岩溶裂隙水渗流计算提供了一种实用、可行的方法。   相似文献

A low-dimensional model that describes both saturated and unsaturated flow processes in a single equation is presented. Subsurface flow processes in the groundwater, the vadose zone, and the capillary fringe are accounted for through the computation of aggregated hydrodynamic parameters that result from the integration of the governing flow equations from the bedrock to the land surface. The three-dimensional subsurface flow dynamics are thus described by a two-dimensional equation, allowing for a drastic reduction of model unknowns and simplification of the model parameterizations. This approach is compared with a full resolution of the Richards equation in different synthetic test cases. Because the model reduction stems from the vertical integration of the flow equations, the test cases all use different configurations of heterogeneity for vertical cross-sections of a soil-aquifer system. The low-dimensional flow model shows strong consistency with results from a complete resolution of the Richards equation for both the water table and fluxes. The proposed approach is therefore well suited to the accurate reproduction of complex subsurface flow processes.  相似文献

Pore water in the Chalk is likely to remain essentially static under the influence of environmental forces with the exception of evapotranspiration. A process of piston displacement of water through networks of microfissures provides a possible mechanism for downward percolation through the unsaturated Chalk.

Maintenance of continuous diffusion equilibrium between fissure and pore water throughout downward migration allows the explanation of the observed rates of movement for thermonuclear tritium in the unsaturated zone. Activation of increasingly large fissures with increasing infiltration rates explains observed rapid water-table response under conditions of sustained high inflow, and is consistent with the behaviour of water quality parameters in the saturated aquifer. Whereas in the unsaturated zone it is suggested that 80 to 90% of total flow passes through microfissures, in the saturated aquifer fluid transport is essentially through macrofissures. Diffusion equilibrium between pore water and fissure water in the saturated zone is not therefore expected.

Individual macrofissures occasionally are enlarged by solution, making it possible for a large proportion of saturated flow to take place through relatively few preferential flow channels. Although the macrofissures, and particularly enlarged macrofissures, are largely responsible for aquifer transmissivity, microfissure storage may often be highly significant in terms of specific yield.  相似文献

Shallow groundwater in the northern Negev desert of Israel flows preferentially through a complex system of discontinuities. These discontinuities intersect what would otherwise be a massive, low-conductivity, high-porosity Eocene chalk. Vertical fractures and horizontal bedding planes were observed and mapped along approximately 1,200 m of scanline, 600 m of core and 30 two-dimensional trace planes. A bimodal distribution of size exists for the vertical fractures which occur as both single-layer fractures and multi-layer fractures. A bimodal distribution of log transmissivity was observed from slug tests conducted in packed-off, vertical intervals within the saturated zone. The different flow characteristics between the horizontal bedding planes and vertical-type fractures appear to be the cause of the bimodality. Two distinct conceptual models (discrete fracture network) were developed based on the fracture orientation, size, intensity and transmissivity statistics derived from field data. A correlation between fracture size and hydraulic aperture was established as the basis for calibrating the simulated model transmissivity to the field observations. This method of defining transmissivity statistically based on prior information is shown to be a reasonable and workable alternative to the usual conjecture approach towards defining transmissivity in a fractured-rock environment.  相似文献

轮南地区是塔里木盆地重点产油气地区之一,对其下奥陶统碳酸盐岩储层性能及分布的研究具有重要的实际意义。通过对研究区岩溶、裂缝发育、沉积和洞穴充填物分析研究,认为具渗透可溶性碳酸盐岩及温暖潮湿、多大气降水是岩溶储层形成的必要条件,构造裂缝的发育为岩溶储层发育创造了有利条件。根据裂缝性质及充填程度,本区裂缝可分为方解石完全充填张裂缝、方解石半充填张裂缝、泥质充填扭压性裂缝、未充填微细裂缝和缝合线5种,其中方解石半充填裂缝和缝合线对储层岩溶发育起重要作用。本区岩溶具明显的垂直分带性,可分为垂直渗流岩溶带、水平潜流岩溶带和过渡带,其中垂直渗流带底部及水平潜流岩溶带上部储集物性最佳。轮南地区发育的两期岩溶与石炭纪两次较大的海侵时间相一致。作者还研究了充填物的沉积特征,探讨了储层的演化模式。  相似文献

由于存在大量粗糙不规则裂隙,使得岩体中流体运动极为复杂。针对天然粗糙岩石裂隙渗流试验存在物理模型隐蔽性和不可重复性等难点,基于三维Weierstrass-Mandelbrot分形函数构建了粗糙节理面的裂隙通道,采用3D打印技术获得了透明精细的裂隙模型,使用微流体控制仪研究了不同试验条件下的裂隙渗流扩散运动,分析了裂隙通道流量与压力水头、裂隙宽度和分形维数之间的关系。研究结果表明:与平行板立方定律近似,在分形裂隙中,裂隙通道流量与压力水头成线性关系;单宽流量与裂隙通道的宽度成近似的三次方关系;考虑分形维数影响时,相同条件下流过裂隙通道的流量随着分形维数的增加而增加;粗糙裂隙渗流立方定律可采用与分形维数相关的幂指数函数进行修正。  相似文献

This study describes a low-cost method for sampling individual fractures in open wellbores in crystalline bedrock utilizing naturally occurring flow conditions in the well. The method entails using the dissolved oxygen alteration method (DOAM) to identify transmissive fractures and vertical flow direction. After obtaining information about relative hydraulic gradients, flow direction in the well is modified using a single control pump to isolate fractures of interest for sampling. Additional dissolved oxygen, injected during the DOAM procedure, serves as a tracer to ensure the water quality in the sampling zone is characteristic of the fracture of interest by requiring a tracer-free zone prior to sampling. Sampling procedures are described conceptually for nine bedrock wells with varying flow conditions containing one, two, or three transmissive inflowing fractures. The method was demonstrated in two crystalline bedrock wells containing one and two transmissive inflowing fractures.  相似文献

Fault zone structure and lithology affect permeability of Triassic Muschelkalk limestone-marl-alternations in Southwest Germany, a region characterized by a complex tectonic history. Field studies of eight fault zones provide insights into fracture system parameters (orientation, density, aperture, connectivity, vertical extension) within fault zone units (fault core, damage zone). Results show decreasing fracture lengths with distances to the fault cores in well-developed damage zones. Fracture connectivity at fracture tips is enhanced in proximity to the slip surfaces, particularly caused by shorter fractures. Different mechanical properties of limestone and marl layers obviously affect fracture propagation and thus fracture system connectivity and permeability. Fracture apertures are largest parallel and subparallel to fault zones and prominent regional structures (e.g., Upper Rhine Graben) leading to enhanced fracture-induced permeabilities. Mineralized fractures and mineralizations in fault cores indicate past fluid flow. Permeability is increased by the development of hydraulically active pathways across several beds (non-stratabound fractures) to a higher degree than by the formation of fractures interconnected at fracture tips. We conclude that there is an increase of interconnected fractures and fracture densities in proximity to the fault cores. This is particularly clear in more homogenous rocks. The results help to better understand permeability in Muschelkalk rocks.  相似文献

鉴于包气带蒸发的水分是从地表散失,故查明裸土蒸发规律对研究包气带水分蒸发、潜水蒸发问题具有重要意义。为了查明西北干旱内陆盆地区裸土蒸发强度规律,通过开展裸土含水率观测、包气带负压观测等野外原位试验,结合气象资料,对包气带剖面流场特征进行分析,采用有限差分法对裸土蒸发强度进行计算。结果表明:依据包气带水分在垂向上迁移的不同状态,将裸土区包气带剖面划分为水分向上传输带和水分向下迁移带2个带;西北内陆干旱盆地裸土包气带极限蒸发深度为1.2 m;受外界蒸发能力和包气带向上输水能力交替控制作用,盆地内裸土蒸发出现在4月下半月至9月下半月,其中4月下半月至5月裸土蒸发强度最大,平均蒸发强度达0.56 mm/d;裸土蒸发强度平均仅占水面蒸发强度的3.5%,最大达6.7%。  相似文献

Natural fractures are characterized by rough surfaces and complex fluid flows. A large distribution of apertures (residual voids) within their walls and the presence of contact points (in situ normal loads) produce heterogeneous flows (channeling). The resulting permeabilities, porosities or fluid–rock exchange surfaces cannot be realistically modeled by parallel and smooth plate models. Four natural fractures are sampled at different depths and degrees of alteration in the Soultz sandstone and granite (EPS1 drillhole, Soultz-sous-Forêts, Bas-Rhin, France). The fracture surfaces are measured with mechanical profilometry and maps of asperity heights (XYZ). Resulting local apertures (XYe) are then calculated. A statistical study of the surface profiles (XZ) show that the fractures are more or less rough and tortuous according to the types of alteration. Altered samples are characterized by smoother surfaces of fractures. Such differences imply that (i) the average fracture aperture is not representative for the whole fracture and that (ii) the different local apertures should be integrated in hydraulic and mechanical models. A hydraulic model (finite difference calculations) of fluid flow, taking into account the elastic closure (Hertz contact theory) of fractures with depth, is used. Maps of contact points and relative local loads within the fracture planes are compared to flow maps. They show different channeling of fluid flows. Strongly altered fractures are characterized by homogeneous fluxes despite the presence of numerous contact zones during the closure of fracture. By contrast, fresh fractures develop, increasing fluid flow channels with depth.Fracture closure (increasing normal stress) does not systematically increase the channeling of fluid flow. There is evidence for a general smoothing out of the irregularities of the fracture walls due to precipitation of secondary minerals, indicating that the cubic law can be commonly valid, also at great crustal depth but this validity depends on the degree of fracture alteration. Mineralogical and geochemical observations, thus, should be taken into account to perform more accurate permeability calculations and models of fluid circulation in fracture networks.  相似文献

包气带水分入渗过程受多种因素的影响。定量研究层状非均质岩性结构和入渗速率对其影响,有助于解决根据不同条件选择单相流模型或水气二相流模型模拟包气带水分入渗过程的问题。结合填埋场等场地地层条件及污废水入渗特征,分别建立了“上细下粗”和“上粗下细”包气带层状非均质岩性结构水分入渗单相流和水气二相流模型,探讨不同层状非均质岩性结构条件下模型的适用性。在“上粗下细”岩性结构模型基础上,进一步探究入渗速率对水气两相运移结果的影响。基于论文模型研究表明:(1)在包气带岩性结构为“上细下粗”的条件下,气相的影响基本可以忽略,可直接采用单相流模型对包气带水分运移进行模拟;在“上粗下细”岩性结构和本次模型设定的底部压力保持不变及污废水泄漏前场地未接受降水入渗补给等条件下,当包气带上下层介质渗透率比值大于16倍时,气相会对水相运移产生明显影响,且下层介质渗透率越小、上下层介质渗透率比值越大,单相流与两相流的运移结果差别越大,需要采用水气二相流模型模拟包气带水分运移。(2)在包气带“上粗下细”岩性结构条件下,入渗速率越大,气相对水流入渗的阻滞作用越明显,此时包气带水分运移模拟应采用水气二相流模型。  相似文献

Sheet structure, or large-scale exfoliation, is the division of a rock mass into lenses, plates or “sheets” approximately parallel to the earth's surface. Sheet fractures, which separate the plates, are characterized by surface markings resembling those formed during the brittle fracture of metals, glass and ceramics and those on joints in rock. Lineations, or hackle marks, parallel to the direction of fracture propagation, are common. Branching occurs during propagation so that the fractures appear as many echelon segments in profile. The opposing surfaces of sheet fractures observed in quarry walls and natural exposures are typically in contact. Damage, if any, to rock adjacent to sheet fractures is generally limited to a zone less than one centimeter wide. Sheets tend to parallel preferred orientations of microcracks in many rock masses. Most sheets that are exposed today are of prehistoric origin, but in some rock masses, such as Chelmsford granite in Massachusetts, new sheets continue to form.

Sheet structure forms in environments of high differential stress, dominated by large-scale compression parallel to an exposed rock surface. In parts of the Chelmsford granite the magnitude of this compression is greater than 30 MPa in the zone of sheeting. High differential stresses near the ground surface can result from several natural agents, including contemporary tectonic forces, vertical unloading of a rock mass that formed at depth under high triaxial compression, and suppression of expansion that would otherwise result from temperature increases or chemical alteration of the rock. Exfoliation of boulders during forest fires and spheroidal weathering of boulders appears to occur under similar states of stress, although the agents responsible for the stresses differ.  相似文献
