周日观测对掌握近海碳酸盐体系变化和海-气CO2交换过程是必要的,有助于降低碳源汇评估的不确定性。针对北部湾东北部的英罗湾-安铺港海域,于2018年4月和8月利用24 h定点逐时采样观测了该区域表层海水碳酸盐体系及相关要素,分析了春、夏季的表层海水CO2分压(p CO2)24 h逐时变化规律及其调控因子。观测结果表明,春、夏季p CO2变化范围分别为530~628μatm和427~748μatm,平均海-气CO2通量分别为(1.7±0.8)mmol/(m2·d)和(1.2±0.8)mmol/(m2·d),均表现为大气CO2的弱源。其中春季p CO2 24 h逐时变化受温度的影响相比夏季更显著,而夏季p CO2对潮汐作用以及区域内沿岸河流、地下水等淡水汇入引起的生物生产和呼吸代谢过程增强的响应更明显。海水升温主导了春季区域表层高p CO2的形成,夏季咸淡水的物理混合过程中增...  相似文献

Abstract. The gorgonian Lophogorgia ceratophyta thrives in turbid water at Tinetto Rock, La Spezia Gulf, Ligurian Sea. Its age structure suggests that the population is in a steady state; nevertheless, it is difficult to discern whether the main factors controlling this population are biological or event-related. Secondary production was estimated by means of an increment-summation method and yielded 0.54 g ash-free dry weight (AFDW)*m-1 a-1. This estimate does not take into account biomass losses due to reproductive output and non-lethal predation. Standing stock biomass was 5.44 g AFDW e m-2. Abstract. A seasonal sampling program of five stations off the Island of Rhodes (SE Aegean Sea) was carried out in 1983–1984. Temperature, salinity, Secchi disk transparency, P-PO4, N-NO3, N-NO2, N-NH3, Si-SiO2, and chl a were measured and phytoplankton species recorded. Cell concentrations and chl a varied seasonally. with the highest values in summer (l.2 times 104 -1--1 total mean cells; 0.13 mgam-3 total mean chl a ) and the lowest in winter (2.3 times 103, 1--1 total mean cells; 0.06 mg.m-- total mean chl a ). A variation in cell abundance among stations was also noted. Quantitative relationships among the recorded taxa showed that diatoms and dinoflagellates were richer in species composition (88 and 58 total species, respectively) than coccolithophores (8 species) and other flagellates (8 species). Comparison of phytoplankton samples from different depths and stations by cluster analysis showed an irregularity or discontinuity in species associations. The SE Aegean Sea was characterized as oligotrophic on the basis of the estimated nutrient and phytoplankton concentration levels.  相似文献

In order to develop a coupled basin scale model of ocean circulation and biogeochemical cycling,we present a biogeochemical model including 12 components to study the ecosystem in the China coastal seas(CCS).The formulation of phytoplankton mortality and zooplankton growth are modified according to biological characteristics of CCS.The four sensitivity biological parameters,zooplankton assimilation efficiency rate(ZooAE_N),zooplankton basal metabolism rate(ZooBM),maximum specific growth rate of zooplankton(μ_(20)) and maximum chlorophyll to carbon ratio(Chl2C_m) are obtained in sensitivity experiments for the phytoplankton,and experiments about the parameter μ_(20'),half-saturation for phytoplankton NO_3 uptake(K_(NO_3)) and remineralization rate of small detritusN(SDeRRN) are conducted.The results demonstrate that the biogeochemical model is quite sensitive to the zooplankton grazing parameter when it ranges from 0.1 to 1.2 d~(-1).The K_(NO_3) and SDeRRN also play an important role in determining the nitrogen cycle within certain ranges.The sensitive interval of KNO_3 is from 0.1 to 1.5(mmol/m~3)~(-1),and interval of SEdRRN is from 0.01 and 0.1 d~(-1).The observational data from September 1998 to July 2000 obtained at SEATS station are used to validate the performance of biological model after parameters optimization.The results show that the modified model has a good capacity to reveal the biological process features,and the sensitivity analysis can save computational resources greatly during the model simulation.  相似文献

In the framework of the VECTOR DIVCOST Project, a 2-year investigation was started in 2006, with the aim of testing the sensibility of microbial parameters to environmental changes and of assessing whether they can provide information about functional changes in the carbon cycle. The investigation was performed in the surface waters of two small brackish ponds (Ganzirri and Faro), located in the Cape Peloro transitional area (Sicily, Italy). The seasonal changes in both the microbial compartment [bacterioplankton, vibrios, exoenzymatic hydrolysis of proteins and polysaccharides, bacterial secondary production (HBP) and community respiration] and the trophic state of suspended matter [total suspended matter (TSM), particulate organic carbon (POC), particulate organic nitrogen (PON), C/N] were analysed in relation to the hydrological characteristics [temperature, salinity, oxygen, fluorescence, NH4, NO2, NO3, PO4]. Despite marked differences in the nutritional input and the diversification in both carbon budget and trophic level, the two ponds show similar trends in many of the investigated factors, hardly influenced by seasonal variations. Temporally coupled trends were observed for some parameters (enzyme activities, vibrios abundances, respiratory activity), whereas others (POC, PON, heterotrophic bacterial production, bacterioplankton) showed a seasonal shift between the two lakes. The different behaviour found for the some biotic parameters suggests that their response to environmental conditions may be modulated differently between the two lakes, which, despite their spatial proximity and reciprocal connection, do not always show contemporaneous functional processes.  相似文献

Abstract. The monthly changes in chlorophyll a , phytoplankton abundance and nutrient concentrations at two stations, one at the inshore and the other at the deep waters of the northern part of İskenderun Bay, were investigated between 1994 – 1995. The vertical distribution of nutrients and phytoplankton biomass were also studied at the deep station. The concentrations of NO3+NO2-N, PO4-P and SiO4-Si of surface water at both stations were 0.31 – 1.63 µg-at · l-1, 0.08 – 0.60 µg-at · l-1 and 0.50 – 2.7 µg-at · l-1, respectively. The highest concentrations were measured at the inshore station and clear differences were found between the inshore and deep-water stations. Chlorophyll a concentrations ranged from 0.17 to 2.78 µg · l-1 and the highest value was measured in March. At the inshore station, which was affected by land run-off, phytoplankton abundance reached the highest value (21,308 cells · l-1) in October 1995, with a marked dominance of Pseudonitzschia pungens (20,200 cells · l-1). The nutrient and chlorophyll a concentrations at the inshore station were higher than those at the deep station. One reason for this is the land-based nutrient input into the coastal area here. In spite of these effects, the bay is not eutrophicated because of circulation events in the northeastern Mediterranean.  相似文献

Rock-magnetic measurements along with grain size, acid-insoluble residue (AIR), organic carbon (OC), CaCO3 and δ18O of the planktonic foraminifers of the sediments were determined for 15 gravity cores recovered from the western continental margin of India. Magnetic susceptibility (MS) values in the surficial sediments reflect the land-derived input and, in general, are the highest in terrigenous sediment-dominated sections of the cores off Saurashtra–Ratnagiri, followed by the sediments off Indus–Gulf of Kachchh and then Mangalore–Cape Comorin.

The down-core variations in mineral magnetic parameters reveal that the glacial sediments off the Indus are characterized by low MS values/S-ratios associated with high AIR-content, low OC/CaCO3 contents and relatively high δ18O values, while those off SW India are characterized by low MS values/high S-ratio% associated with low AIR content, and relatively high OC, CaCO3 and δ18O values. Conversely, the Early Holocene sediments of all cores are characterized by high MS values/S-ratio% associated with high AIR content, low OC, CaCO3 contents and gradually decreased δ18O values. These results imply that during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), the cores off northwestern India received abundant continental supply leading to the predominance of eolian/fluvial sedimentation. In the SW region the influence of hinterland flux is less evident during this period, but convective mixing associated with the NE monsoon resulted in increased productivity. During the early Holocene intense SW monsoon conditions resulted in high precipitation on land, which in turn contributed increased AIR content/MS values in the continental margin sediments. A shallow water core off Kochi further suggests that the intense SW monsoon conditions prevailed until about 5 ka. The late Holocene organic-rich sediments of the SW margin of India were, however, subjected to early diagenesis at different intervals in the cores. Therefore, caution is needed when interpreting regional climatic change from down-core changes in sediment magnetic properties.  相似文献

Abstract. The influence of corallivores on coral community structure of eastern Pacific reefs has been considered less important then that of abiotic oceanographic factors. The data that support this assumption, however, are only available for Central American reefs. To assess the role of predation on hermatypic corals in a different regional reef environment, the abundance, spatial distribution and consumption rate of three corallivores: the echinoid Eucidaris thouarsii (Valenciennes), the asteroid Acanthaster planci (Linnaeus) and the teleostean fish Arothron meleagris (Bloch & Schneider), were estimated at Cabo Pulmo reef, Gulf of California, México (23°25' N, 109°25' W). Statistically, the abundances of the species did not change in any sections of the reef (mean values: E. thouarsii , 0.17 indiv. · m−2; A. planci , 1.9 indiv. · m−2; A. meleagris , 39 indiv. · ha−1). The average daily individual consumption rates of coral were calculated at 1.83 g CaCO3· m−2 for E. thouarsii , 118.4 cm2 for A. planci , and 16.38 g CaCO3· m−2 for A. meleagris , and were lower than those reported for Central American reefs. Considering the mean estimated carbonate production (7.9 kg CaCO3· m−2· a−1), corallivores eliminate less than 4% of the coral standing stock of Cabo Pulmo reef. The low corallivore population density and consumption rates, together with high local coral cover, indicate that corallivores are not key factors determining scleractinian abundance in this marginal reef.  相似文献

Abstract. In the water-column of the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic Sea) flocculent, amorphous aggregates known as marine snow reach maximum density and dimensions up to 20cm in diameter during summer months. Sampling of these fragile macro-aggregates was carried out by SCUBA-divers.
A large detrital component was found to be embedded in an organic matrix together with a large array of intact phytoplankton species. Heterotrophic bacterial density ranged from 2–65 × 108 cells-g-1 (marine snow dry wt) and is therefore of the same order of magnitude as in the surface layer of the sediments of the Gulf. In terms of biomass, bacteria reached only 30–95% of heterotrophic microflagellates.
A mean abundance of marine snow of 5g (marine snow dry wt) m-3 was obtained for the water-column above the pyenolinc. At this boundary layer, however, a mean abundance of about 10g (marine snow dry wt) m-3 led to the formation of a distinct, 10-50cm thick layer. Based on these data and sedimentation rates of marine snow to the pyenoclinc (38 g [marine snow dry wt] m-2 d-1) the potential ecological significance of these macro-aggregates for the pelagic system of the Gulf of Trieste is discussed.  相似文献

基于控制因子分析的方法,本研究建立了夏季珠江口海域海水CO2分压(pCO2)的遥感反演模型。基于珠江水与黑潮水的两端元混合,建立了水平混合和热力学作用的量化模型,并生成了查找表。同时,建立了基于黄色物质(含碎屑)吸收系数的盐度遥感算法,实现珠江口海域表层盐度的遥感反演。利用走航pCO2和匹配的遥感叶绿素质量浓度产品,建立了生物作用的量化模型。通过集成水平混合和生物作用,最终实现夏季珠江口海域pCO2的遥感反演。与走航pCO2比较表明,仅考虑水平混合和热力学作用的遥感结果会显著高估,考虑生物作用后,遥感结果无论在量值和空间变化趋势上均与实测结果相符。此外,遥感反演结果表明,夏季珠江口近岸水域为CO2的汇区,而离岸的陆架水域则为CO2的弱源。  相似文献

Abstract. Planktonic and benthonic foraminifera live in the desert-enclosed, hypersaline and oligotrophic Gulf of Aqaba and northernmost Red Sea near the edge of their ecological tolerance. Marked changes in foraminiferal abundance patterns in the past, resulting from hydrological shifts related to global climatic fluctuations, facilitate a high-resolution ecostratigraphic subdivision of deep-sea records covering the last 150,000 years. Of particular significance are the foraminiferal plankton/benthos ratios, the presence/absence pattern of such species as Globigerinoides sacculifer , as well as the frequency variation of Globigerina bulloules-falconensis, Buliminacea, Miiiolacea and various "rotaliform" species. Paleoceanographic interpretation of the shifts in assemblage composition and of stable oxygen isotope data obtained on planktonic foraminifera and pteropods indicates that during glacial intervals - because of global cooling, lowered sea-level and reduced water exchange at the straits of Bab-el-Mandeb - the temperature of the upper waters fell by about 4–6 oC (to 15–17 oC), salinity rose by about 10%o to more than 50%0 while residence time of the water became longer and the input/output ratio of nutrients became higher. As a consequence, fertility of the photic zone was higher, the organic content of the sediments increased and oxygen levels in the deep basin became reduced. Thus, sea level-oscillations and strait-dynamics played a major role in the foraminiferal paleoecology of the Red Sea.  相似文献

Abstract. The relative palatability of 13 algae common in the kelp beds of the west coast of the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, is experimentally investigated with respect to feeding by the sea urchin Parechinus angulosus.
We investigated 2 hypotheses: 1) that this important herbivore would feed selectively on these algae and 2) that Desmarestia firma, one of these algae, would be unattractive to Parechinus on account of the H2S04 in the thallus.
Algal preferences are determined from 3 types of feeding experiment, results of which support our first hypothesis, and allow us to group the algae into 3 arbitrary categories: "preferred", "intermediate", and "non-preferred". To explain these patterns, we measured "relative astringen-cy" of each species (essentially a phenol measurement), and phenol content of 4 species (FOUN-DENIS method). Rates of feeding on single species are negatively correlated with relative astringen-cies (r = 0.76, P = 0.99). The high relative astringency of D. firma is caused by its high (18 % per dry mass) H2S04 content, and it is non-preferred. Our results therefore support our second hypothesis. Other implications of these results are discussed.  相似文献

针对南海北部和吕宋海峡附近海域的海-气CO2通量及其调控问题,研究了2009年3月底至4月中旬在这些海域通过走航观测的方法取得的海-气CO2分压和海表温度、盐度等相关数据。结果表明,在河口、沿岸流以外的南海北部开阔海域,与大气平衡的CO2分压分布在368~380μatm,南低北高,平均值为371μatm;而海表CO2分压分布在293~405μatm,南高北低。南海北部开阔海域的海表CO2分压主要受温度效应调控,也在一定程度上受水团混合、海-气交换、生物活动等非温度效应的影响。在相同水温条件下,黑潮区的海表CO2分压比南海北部的海表CO2分压低。本研究和大多数前人研究的结果都表明,南海北部海盆区域和吕宋海峡西侧海域在春季与大气CO2接近源汇平衡,而非大气CO2的显著源区。  相似文献

Abstract. Coastal Patagonian sea waters had been differentially nutrient-enriched to determine (i) the magnitude of the algal biomass supported and (ii) which species were able to best compete for the available nutrients. Nitrogen was found to be the nutrient limiting growth of the natural phytoplankton population. The addition of NO3 at 25 μg at 1-1 led to a 10 to 30 μg 1-1 increase in chlorophyll a in all but those treatments containing trace metal additions. The best yield coefficients were obtained when a chelator (EDTA) was added with NO3. A pool of nine diatom species were common in the N03 supplemented waters and the addition of vitamins along with NO3 allowed two of the nine species to dominate.  相似文献

Abstract. Dark respiration rates, dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) fluxes and nitrification rates were measured at two sites in the microtidal Sacca di Goro lagoon in September 2000. DIN fluxes correlated with the biomass of the dominant macrofauna species (the amphipod Corophium spp. at station Giralda and the polychaete Neanthes spp. at station Faro). Respiration (> 6 mmol O2 m−2h−1) and ammonium fluxes (> 80μmol N m−2h−1) were higher at station Giralda despite the lower organic matter content (4.5 %) and lower macrofauna biomass (4 g AFDW m−2). At both sites ammonium fluxes were significantly correlated with the biomass of the benthic infauna, but Corophium stimulated ammonium NH4+ fluxes 3-fold compared to Neanthes. The amphipod also enhanced nitrification rates (> 300 μmol N m−2h−1) due to the high density of its burrows, the higher NH4+ regeneration rates and the enhanced oxygen supply to the bacteria.  相似文献

Abstract. The removal of glycine and glucose by freshly collected adult Mytilus edulis was determined using radiolabeled substances added to ambient concentrations of dissolved organic materials in freshly collected natural sea water. Uptake rates were calculated for substrate concentrations of 0.5 μM glycine and 1.0 μM glucose and were compared with the animals' energy and nitrogen demands as measured by oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion rates. Respiration and ammonia excretion rates as well as cither glycine or glucose removal were all determined for the same animals. The mean respiration rate was 670μl O2 g-1h-1, the mean ammonia excretion rate 1.95 μg-at NH4-g-1 h-1. The calculated uptake rates were 0.48 μmol -g-1-h-1 for free amino acids and 0.44 μmol-g-1 h-1 for free simple sugars. Such uptake rates could have contributed roughly 13% of the mussels' energy requirements or 10% of the mussels' nitrogen requirements assuming the following conditions: 0.5 μM concentration of free amino acids, 1.0μM concentration of simple sugars, uptake of total amino acids at a rate based on a weighted removal rate of glycine, alanine, serine, and glutamic acid, and uptake of simple sugars at a rate equal to that of glucose removal. It is apparent that simple organic substances dissolved in sea water may be of some benefit to mussels, especially when the substances occur in concentrations typical of coastal sea water.  相似文献

Abstract. Recent findings indicate that heterotrophic bacteria and not phytoplankton are the most numerous biomass components even in the euphotic zone of oligotrophic, open oceans. In this study it was hypothesized that the microbial biomass components change within a few hundred meters as oligotrophic water flows across the reef and becomes enriched with nutrients. Along a trophic gradient, four stations at the Atlantic Barrier Reef off Belize (Central America) were sampled for microbial biomass components. Phytoplankton biomass (measured as chlorophyll a) ranged from the most oligotrophic station (St. 1) to the most eutrophic station (St. 4) from 6.9–415.5 μg CI"' (assuming a C:chl a ratio of 30): heterotrophic bacterial biomass increased 4-fold (from 10.1–46.4μg C 1-1), heterotrophic nanoflagellate (HNAN) biomass increased from 4.6-19ug C 1-1, and cyanobacteria from 0.9-4.5 μg C-1-1. Production estimates derived from seawater cultures revealed a 5-fold increase in bacterial production from the oligotrophic station (3.7 ug C 1-1 d-1) to the eutrophic St. 4 (17.8ug C-1-d1-1)- Cyanobacterial production rose from 1.1–3.5ug C-1–d-1 and HNAN production from 0.65-1.13 μg C-1-1 -d-1. While cyanobacteria contributed between 13 and 20% to the autotrophic plankton component in the oligotrophic waters, their contribution dropped to about 1 % at the eutrophic stations.  相似文献

Using the hierarchical clustering method, we present comprehensive analyses of water masses and their seasonal variations based on substantial in situ observations in the eastern Beibu Gulf, a shallow sea with a depth mostly less than 100 m. Besides traditional physical parameters (salinity and temperature), chemical and biological parameters are also used for the water mass classification and analyses, which include dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, nitrite, reactive silicate, and chlorophyll a. Consequently, the eastern Beibu Gulf water is classified into five water masses in the study area, namely the diluted water, the mixed water, the surface water, the subsurface water, and the bottom water. The diluted water is located in the area along the Guangxi coast; the mixed water mainly occupies the northern study area; the surface water resides in the central and southern study area; the subsurface water exists just near the Gulf mouth; and the bottom water appears in the lower layer east of Bailongwei Island, which is different from the Beibu Gulf cold water mentioned in previous studies. The parameter properties and spatial distribution of most water masses in the eastern Beibu Gulf exhibit strong seasonal variability which is mainly modulated by circulations and solar radiation.  相似文献
