The Middle Cambrian succession of the Parahio Valley in general and Debsakhad section in particular is dominated by trilobites. Genus Opsidiscus, along with other trilobite forms dominates the lower Middle Cambrian succession. In the present study two new species of Opsidiscus, Opsidiscus wadiai and Opsidiscus srikantiai are reported from the lower Middle Cambrian succession of Debsakhad section. The species were differentiated on their morphological features and their multivariate analysis. The multivariate analysis applied here is used as a supplement method to qualitative analysis in order to differentiate between the cranidial characters of Opsidiscus. The qualitative study of each species studied individually shows more or less close affiliation as is observed by different quantitative methods. The presence of Opsidiscus has a great stratigraphic significance in this region, as they first appear from informal Stage 5 of Series 3 and goes up to the Drumian Stage of Series 3 of the Cambrian System in the Debsakhad section, which helps to correlate this section with other well known sections of the Middle Cambrian.  相似文献

Cruziana及其相关的遗迹化石是由底栖三叶虫在沉积物表面停歇、爬行所留下的遗迹,一般认为产于潮下带至浅海陆棚环境,具有古水深指示意义。然而,本文通过对昆明民富二村下奥陶统红石崖组顶部含Cruziana rugosa遗迹化石群落层位的沉积环境分析却发现,Cruziana rugosa遗迹化石群落的沉积环境为潮上带—潮间带,说明三叶虫可以在短暂暴露环境中活动。三叶虫的这种适应性活动可能为节肢动物从海洋走向陆地做好了进化准备。  相似文献

Micro- and macrofauna remains were studied from transitional deposits of Moscovian and Kasimovian Stages in the Donskaya Luka (Volgograd Region). The preliminary analysis of microfauna showed that “sub-Triticites Beds” of the Donskaya Luka contain fusulinid and conodont assemblages enabling correlation of the Middle and Upper Carboniferous deposits in the study region with the type sections of Moscow area and Donbass. Conodonts from the “sub-Triticites Beds” stratotype were studied for the first time. As is established, upper part of the Sukhov Fm. and the base of the Seleznev Fm. belong to the Protriticites pseudomontiparus-Obsoletes obsoletus Zone. Based on fusulinids, higher parts of the Seleznev Fm. belong to the Montiparus Zone of the Khamovnikian Substage, whereas conodonts suggest their correlation with lower part of the Khamovnikian Substage, i.e., with the Ratmirovo Fm. or a basal part of the Neverovo Fm. Middle part of the Seleznev Fm. is correlated to middle cycle of the Neverovo Fm. of the Khamovnikian Substage in Moscow area. The Middle-Upper Carboniferous boundary deposits of the Donskaya Luka are represented by deposits of extremely shallow-water settings and contain only sporadic microfauna. These sections cannot be considered as possible candidates for the GSSP of the Kasimovian Stage base.  相似文献

新疆巴楚中—晚奥陶世牙形刺生物地层和沉积环境研究   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
塔里木盆地中央隆起区的中—上奥陶统灰岩相地层露头分布在巴楚良里塔格地区的一间房—唐王城。以牙形刺动物群为依据厘定3个组的时代,从下至上为一间房组(Periodus flabellum层、Pygodus serra层,属达瑞威尔阶)、吐木休克组(Pygodus anserinus层、Baltoniodus alobatus带,属桑比阶)和良里塔格组(含B.confluens动物群层,属凯迪阶下部)。一间房组的开始标志了新一期的海进,此组下段发育1期藻丘,中段发育1期藻丘、1期瓶筐石礁丘和3—4期瓶筐石—棘屑滩,上段代表了海水加深至浪基面之下的过程;吐木休克组沉积过程中达到了海进最大值,为凝缩沉积;良里塔格组代表了逐渐海退的过程,由浅滩和3期藻丘建造组成。  相似文献

A diverse trace fossil association is described for the first time from low‐grade metamorphic rocks of the SW‐Norwegian Caledonides. The investigated cliff sections with autochthonous to parautochthonous metasediments comprise a coarsening‐ and thickening‐upward succession interpreted as prograding delta deposits. Sedimentary features indicate a tide‐influenced environment. Twenty‐one ichnospecies have been identified and assigned to the Cruziana and Skolithos ichnofacies, including the oldest record of Beaconites capronus and Macaronichnus segregatis. Cruziana ichnostratigraphy (sensu lato), previously rarely used in other palaeocontinents than Gondwana, allows an age determination for these metasediments of Middle Cambrian to Lower Ordovician as indicated by the presence of Cruziana barbata, C. furcifera, C. rugosa, C. semiplicata, Didymaulichnus rouaulti and Rusophycus ramellensis. Baltica was geographically the most isolated from the other three large continents (Gondwana, Laurentia and Siberia) during Cambro‐Ordovician time, and provinciality of faunal assemblages (e.g. brachiopods, conodonts) has been proved and is also supposed for trilobites by some authors. However, although the Cruziana ichnospecies result from a high specialization of their tracemakers, and therefore only a small group of trilobite species is eligible for its origin, the ichnospecies reported from Baltica occur also on other palaeocontinents and do not support the assumption of trilobite provincialism. In western Tasmania, near Melba Flats, a basalt within the Serpentine Hill Complex is overlain unconformably by Dundas Group sediments (Hodge Slate). About 32 m above the unconformity, a siltstone contains agnostoid and polymerid trilobites that indicate correlation with the middle Cambrian Ptychagnostus punctuosus Zone (Drumian Stage of unnamed Epoch 3 of the Cambrian). This provides an upper limit of about 505.2–504.5 Ma to the emplacement of ultramafic allochthons in western Tasmania. Other fossils present include dendroids, inarticulate brachiopods, hyolithids, helcionellids and sponges. The widespread agnostoid trilobite Ptychagnostus affinis (Brøgger 1878) and the holocephalinid trilobites Meneviella and Holocephalina are recorded for the first time in Tasmania.  相似文献

Euloma changshanense Lu采自浙江江山下奥陶统,是一个蜕壳老壳的部分及自由颊腹边缘的印痕。从这后期破损的残壳分析其蜕壳过程,认为两自由颊在头前中间连接,蜕壳时在虫体拱曲时脱落于头前,但还在新壳之上,后被新的虫体顶走,只残存自由颊腹边缘在头前的印痕。这反映了三叶虫在蜕壳过程中有一停顿休息时间,而新的虫体常常顶走或拖走老的头壳上的自由颊和唇瓣,使老壳留下缺失的背壳部件。蜕壳过程是瞬间发生的,即只有原地埋葬才能保存这一状态,说明当时三叶虫处于比较宁静的水中,又处于沉积物供给充足的环境,在蜕壳过程中或不久即被沉积物掩埋。浙江江山印渚埠组的厚度较大,上面直接覆盖着大湾阶底部的Azygograptus suecicus带;而相邻不远的江西玉山印渚埠组顶部,上覆为玉山阶的底部Tetragraptus approximatus带,证明印渚埠组是穿时的。而两个地方的印渚埠组顶部都常产有Euloma changshanense Lu,说明此三叶虫虽为下奥陶统常见化石,但延续时间较长,在特马豆克晚期到整个玉山阶都存在,也说明印渚埠组沉积厚度较大,但整个沉积环境变化不大,即使三叶虫Euloma changshanenes等种属也很少变化。这是研究三叶虫蜕壳及其生态替换、演变的好层位。  相似文献

The Late Ordovician Wufengian sediments in western Zhejiang include three facies: 1) graptolite shale facies, composed of two parts--the upper part the Yankou Formation, with the Diplograplus bohemicus(graptolite) zone and Dalmanitina sp.(trilobite), and the lower part the yuqian Formation with four graptolite zones:(4) the Paraorthograptus yuqianensis zone,(3) the Climacograptus venustus zone,(2) the Dicellograptus szechuanensis zone and(1) the Pseudoclimacograptus anhuiensis zone; 2) mixed facies, consisting of the Wenchang Formation in its upper part and the Changwu Formation in its lower; and 3) shelly limestone facies, whose upper and lower parts are separately the Wenchang Formation and Sanjushan Formation, containing Taeniolites, Proheliolites, etc. In this region the Dalmanitina-Hirnantia bed is well exposed,and Da. and H. are associated with Diplograptus bohemicus, belonging to the late Late Ordovician.The Ordovician-Silurian boundary is drawn as follows:(1) for the graptolite facies, it lies between the Diplograptus bohemicus zone and Glyptograptus persculptus zone;(2) for the graptolite-sheny limestone facies(brachiopod fauna), it is placed between the top of the Diplograptus bohemicus zone and the base of the horizon with the Eospirifer fauna; and 3) for the shelly facies(brachiopod fauna), it is drawn between the top of the horizon with the Dalmanitina-Hirnantia fauna and thebase of the horizon with the Eospirifer fauna.  相似文献

浙江西部晚奥陶世五峰期沉积包括三种相:(一)笔石页岩相:由二部分组成,上部堰口组有笔石Diplograptus bohemicus带及三叶虫Dalmanitina sp.,下部于潜组有四个笔石带:(4)Paraorthograptus yuqianensis,(3)Climacograptus venstus,(2)Dicellograptus szechuanensis,(1)Pseudoclimacograptus anhutensis(二)混合相:上部为文昌组,下部为长坞组,(三)壳灰岩相:上部为文昌组,下部为三巨山组,有Toeniolites, Proheliolites等。本区的Dralmdnitina-Hrrnantio层出露清楚,且Da.和H.Diplograptus bohemicus共生,时代属晚奥陶世晚期。  相似文献

The biostratigraphy of the Cambrian of Kashmir based on trilobite assemblage zones and trace fossils has been attempted. Faunal gaps occur in lower part of Lower Cambrian, upper Lower Cambrian, lower Middle Cambrian and upper part of Upper Cambrian. In the Lower Cambrian Cruziana—Rusophycus and Redlichia Zones, in the Middle Cambrian Solenopleura—Tonkinella, Tonkinella—Anomocare, Anomocare—Bailiella and Bolaspidella Zones, and in the Upper Cambrian Chuangia and Dikelocephalites Zones are recognized. The position of intrasystem boundaries is also discussed. While the various taxa have lithological preferences and are not necessarily found in a continuous sequence, an attempt has been made to interpret the ranges of different genera. The affinities of the fauna with that of other Cambrian basins of the world are discussed. It is concluded that the bulk of the fauna is of a cosmopolitan nature.  相似文献

Historical published works on the fossil fauna of the Llanberis Slates Formation in Gwynedd, North Wales, concentrated on the endemic trilobite Pseudatops viola (Woodward, 1888), and placed the formation towards the top of Stage 3 (Series 2) of the Cambrian chronostratigraphy.The impression given was that the fauna is not particularly diverse and fossils are rare. However, recent collecting has produced a comprehensive fauna of sponges, hyolithids and diverse arthropods including over 250 trilobite specimens from two localities of the uppermost Green Slate horizon. Among them are examples of the endemic trilobite Pseudatops viola, sufficiently well preserved to enable a reappraisal of its status. The most abundant trilobite is a form of Strenuella (cf. strenua), but the collection includes previously unrecorded eodiscoid trilobites and specimens representing unrecorded and potentially new taxa. These additions result in the most comprehensive lower Cambrian trilobite assemblage yet described from Wales, and place it in the lower part of Stage 4, Series 2 in standard global terms.  相似文献

<正> 二十年前,关于华北地台的上奥陶统是否存在,几乎一无所知。一般都认为华北地台无晚奥陶世的沉积。但是,近二十年来,在华北地台西缘的许多地区不断地发现了上奥陶统。这些发现对阐明华北地台古地理、海水进退和构造运动等方面都有重要意义。 1960前,王钰、穆恩之、卢衍豪曾提出华北地台可能有上奥陶统的看法。1960年,俞昌民根据陕西耀县(原文为富平县)、宁夏固原县产有与祁连山扣门子组相同种的珊瑚Catenipora uniforma(C.M.Yu),初步肯定含该化石的地层年代为晚奥陶世。  相似文献

Eight biohorizons, four of which were previously distinguished in Central Poland and four new (contradictionis, pommerania, kuteki, and pilicensis), were identified in the Dorsoplanites panderi zone of the Upper Jurassic Middle Volgian Substage of the European part of Russia on the basis of the succession of ammonites of the Zaraiskites genus. The peculiarities of variations of the ammonite complexes in space and time testify to the stepwise warming during the Panderi Chron and the occurrence of the significant latitudinal temperature gradient in the Middle Russian Sea. New species Zaraiskites kuteki is described.  相似文献

A limestone lens within the Comstock Formation, from low in the Tyndall Group near the Lyell Comstock Mine near Queenstown, western Tasmania, contains a small trilobite fauna. The trilobites include Ammagnostus cf. laiwuensis, Kootenia sp., Sudanomocarina? sp. and a possible member of the Monkaspidae. These suggest an age somewhere in the range from the upper Ptychagnostus atavus Zone to the Lejopyge laevigata Zone, with regional stratigraphic correlations suggesting the latter zone. This is only the second Tasmanian Cambrian fossil assemblage described from limestone; almost all previously described Tasmanian Cambrian faunas are found in siltstones and shales.  相似文献

海南岛志留系以往被划分为上、中、下三个统。志留系之上是南好组 ,其层位以往被确定为下石炭统岩关阶 ,并认为它与其下的上志留统足赛岭组呈不整合接触。最近在南好组选层型剖面发现早志留世特里奇期晚期(L ate Telychian)的 Xinanospirifer腕足动物群和三叶虫 L atiproetus cf.latilimbatus (Grabau) ,重新论证了以往被确认为中志留统靠亲山组所产的腕足类、三叶虫和珊瑚化石其实都是特里奇期早至中期的分子。现在以无可争辩的事实证明了久归于下石炭统岩关阶南好组 ,以及其下的、以往被确定为上志留统足赛岭组、中志留统靠亲山组等所谓两个构造层的地层都应改归于下志留统 (L landovery Series)。北区下志留统仅有鲁丹期中期至爱隆期早期的黑色碳质页岩相和泥页岩相沉积 ,未发现任何大化石。南区下志留统发育较全 ,为细至中粗粒碎屑岩相夹碳酸盐岩相沉积 ,产丰富介壳相各门类化石 ;当时该区所生存的动物群与扬子区早志留世的关系非常密切 ,并在早志留世末期与扬子区大部分地区一样上升为陆 ,表明海南岛地区在当时属于扬子地台区范畴。  相似文献

In Korea,trilobites are among the most intensively studied fossil groups in the past century and provide invaluable information about lower Paleozoic stratigraphy,paleogeography,and tectonics of the Korean Peninsula. Trilobites occur in the lower Paleozoic Joseon Supergroup of the Taebaeksan Basin which was part of the Sino-Korean Craton in the Paleozoic. The Joseon Supergroup is divided into the Taebaek,Yeongwol,and Mungyeong groups. The Taebaek and Yeongwol groups are richly fossiliferous,while the Mungyeong Group is poorly fossiliferous. Contrasting trilobite faunal contents of the Taebaek and Yeongwol groups resulted in two separate biostratigraphic schemes for the Cambrian–Ordovician of the Taebaeksan Basin. A total of 22 biozones or fossiliferous horizons were recognized in the Taebaek Group; 19 zones were established in the Yeongwol Group; and four biozones were known from the Mungyeong Group. These trilobite biozones of the Taebaeksan Basin indicate the Joseon Supergroup ranges in age from the Cambrian Series 2 to Middle Ordovician and can be correlated well with the formations of North China,South China,and Australia.  相似文献

Great variety of lithic facies and abundance of varied faunas makes the Ordivician of this area ideal for study. Numerous detailed sections show that although many kinds of rock are exemplified the great majority are detrital in nature, with limestones constituting a lesser part. In order to conform to local stratigraphic circumstances, the Caradoc stage is redefined to include only the zones of Climacograptus wilsoni and Dicranograptus clingani. Similarly the Ashgill stage is redefined to include the zone of Pleurograptus linearis in addition to the zone of Dicellograptus complanatus. Throughout the section there are conflicts among the brachiopod, trilobite, cephalopod, and graptolite elements of the faunas concerning correct dating. In each case these have been resolved locally. Almost all the Ordovician series or formations overlap Precambrian rocks uncofformably at one place or another. This is particularly true of rocks below the Caradoc. The basal Akshal suite of limestones of questionable Tremadoc age is locally overlain by massive pink limestones which are of possible Arenig age. The Kopaly horizon believed to be of Llanvirn age is richly fossiliferous and composed of approximately 170 meters of detrital rocks with some impure limestones. This unit is considered Middle Ordovician because abundant trilobites and brachiopods resemble closely those of the overlying Karakan horizon believed to be of Llandeilo age. Despite the similarity of shelly faunas the graptolites of these two horizons differ markedly. The Beke series known as the “Green Flysch” overlies the Karakan to a thickness of 650 meters gradationally, and is believed to top the Llandeilo. The Caradoc Anderkenyn beds and the Caradoc and Ashgill Dulan-kara beds constitute sedimentary cycles from basal conglomerates to higher shales and limestones, as does a sequence including Upper Ashgill, Kyzyl-sai “Dark Flysch, ” the Chokpar horizon, and Lower Silurian Ul'kuntas limestone.—R. The Cambrian succession in the Zanskar Basin of Tethys Himalaya contains an abundant ichnofossils like in the other Tethyan Himalayan successions. The ichnofossils are stratigraphically important as they occur below the trilobite body fossils and are useful to define the basal part of the Cambrian. The ichnofossil assemblage reported from the Zanskar Basin of Ladakh Himalaya is significant to demarcate the Early Cambrian age due to lack of other faunal elements so far. The body fossils of trilobites recorded from the overlying beds indicates the earliest part of the Middle Cambrian age. Sixteen ichnogenera identified include: Bifungites, Cruziana, Diplichnites, Dimorphichnus, Isopodichnus, Lockeia, Merostomichnites; Monomorphichnus, Psammichnites, Palaeophycus, Planolites, Rhizocorallium, Skolithos, Taphrhelminthopsis, Teichichnus, Trepitichnus and trilobite scratch marks etc. The ichnogenera reported so far from this part of the Tethyan Himalayan region belongs mostly to the traces of arthropod origin. The ichnofauna ranges in age from Lower Cambrian to late part of the Middle Cambrian. The ichnofaunal assemblage can be assigned to repichnial, cubichinial, pascichnial, to fodinichnial behaviour. The distribution of ichnofossils in the studied sections shows that the ichnofossils are predominately less in occurrence in the sections were trilobites dominates and higher in the successions the abundance of ichnofossils decreases.  相似文献
