Gypsum contains liquid inclusions which fill mainly primary cavities. Analysis of inclusions may give some information about the mineral formation process. In places, diagenetic solutions have filled secondary cavities along cleavage planes or replaced initial liquid inclusions in primary cavities; the presence of such secondary inclusions must, therefore, be taken into consideration. This study presents our results on the Cl/Br ratio of liquid inclusions in gypsum. The Cl/Br ratio is practically constant in present sea water, and has been measured in many different types of waters. The Br content of halite has also been extensively studied to trace the compositional changes of a salt-depositing brine. In gypsum Br is present only in microscopic fluid inclusions. For this reason we used the neutron-activation method. We adopted the technique in order to prevent any contamination and obtain directly Cl/Br ratio within 10% accuracy. In order to ascertain that liquid inclusions reside mainly in primary cavities of gypsum, we selected our samples only after microscopic observation. Fifty-eight samples from different types of gypsum were analysed. The salinities of the inclusions, obtained through the data on freezing, and the Cl/Br ratio, obtained through activation-analysis, give us clues as to the nature of the fluids depositing the gypsum. Recent gypsum deposits from French salt-pans of Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts were sampled. The latter has apparently been diagenetically altered by meteoric water; the salinity of many inclusions having been changed while the Cl/Br ratio (315 and 350) in both remains close to the value of present sea water (#300). Liquid inclusions of Recent crystals from New Caledonia, deposited in mangrove swamps are enriched in Br (Cl/Br = 150 and 200). The enrichment might be related to the presence of abundant organic materials. Inclusions in crystals from Sebkha el Melah (Tunisia) also show high Br content (Cl/Br = 194). In this case, the brine was highly concentrated and was saturated with NaCl. The Upper Miocene gypsum from Sicily was studied to test the various models for the genesis of this important evaporite formation of the Mediterranean. Freezing data show some decrease of salinities, probably by groundwater diagenesis, but the Br content is high. The Cl/Br ratio is 175, and this value is similar to that of Sebkha el Melah. Samples from three thick Eocene and Oligocene sequences near Paris and in the South of France were studied. Freezing data and Cl/Br ratio of their inclusions indicate that those gypsum deposits have crystallized in marine environments receiving considerable influx of river-waters.  相似文献

The UTh/He thermochronology technique assumes a homogeneous distribution of U and Th within the analysed crystals. Cathodoluminescence imaging reveals a strong chemical heterogeneity within apatite a mineral widely used for UTh/He dating. This heterogeneity is then susceptible to induce large errors when calculating the UTh/He age. Chemical analysis using laser ablation ICP–MS of the various zones shown by cathodoluminescence display a link between the Ce, U and Th concentration and the luminescence intensity allowing the UTh/He age to be corrected for zonation. The Mamora aquifer, in the northern Moroccan Meseta, constitutes the main regional water resource. Its impermeable basement is mostly composed of blue marls. The lithostratigraphy of the basin aquifer is characterised by a sequence of sandstones, sandy limestones, conglomerates and sandy clays.The structure of the basement of the Mamora aquifer, deduced from electrical resistivity measurements, allowed the hydrogeological behaviour of the reservoir, and the direction of the groundwater flow, to be established. The combination of the lithological, morphological, piezometric, geophysical and structural investigations revealed a northward thickening of the substrate with groundwater flow towards the Rharb (to the north) and towards the Atlantic Ocean (northwest). This ‘multicriteria’ approach enabled a structural model to be defined, which correlated well with the aquifer geometry and the groundwater flow. The variability of the hydrogeological units, and the northward thickening of the sedimentary facies, were controlled by northeast-southwest orientated faults, which affect their impermeability.  相似文献

Geophysical methods such as seismic surveying and electrical resistivity imaging appear to be well-adapted to investigate and understand landslide mechanisms. They allow direct and non-intrusive measurement of acoustic velocity and electrical resistivity, two fundamental parameters used to define the physical properties of the reworked moving materials. Both methods were applied at the Super-Sauze site in the French South Alps, where a typical example of an intra-material earthflow-mudslide can be observed. Measurements were taken simultaneously along two orthogonal profiles: one 325 m in length is perpendicular to the axis of the earthflow; the other 235 m in length is located along the axis of the earthflow. The results show a correlation between the seismic and electrical resistivity data, confirming that the simultaneous use of both methods gives complementary information about landslide mechanisms. The seismic data provide information on fracture density variations, whereas the electrical resistivity data provide information on water content variations. To cite this article: G. The bore-hole of Mont-Pagnotte (Oise, France), located in the northern border-area of the Ludian gypsum in the Paris Basin, shows a facies richer in carbonate than those of the centre of the basin. It is possible to relate this facies to the typical formations of the centre of the basin. Samples from the Middle Bartonian (Calcaire de Saint-Ouen) to the Stampian (argile verte) are studied. In this part of the core, the proportion of argillaceous minerals is very low, but there are many variations which are related to the evolution of the area of sedimentation. Alizarine-coloured thin-section study and X-ray analysis show that the microfacies is constant: it is always a calcimicrite. This constancy is very important in geochemical study, because we can eliminate a possible action of mineralogic and diagenetic factors on the distribution coefficient of the different elements studied. Results of the atomic absorption analysis of the trace elements (on the carbonate part of the samples) are positive for 8 elements (Sr, Na, K, Mg, Zn, Mn, Cr, Ni). After a critical discussion (based on much experimental data) of the comportment of those elements during carbonate sedimentation, the Sr, Na, K, Mg, Zn contents appear to represent an indicator of the salinity of the water in the area of sedimentation; the Mn concentration as an indicator of oxydo-reduction conditions in the sediment and the Ni and Cr contents as an indicator of variation in the quality of continental supplies (in ionic or detritic form). It is possible to relate this variation to weathering conditions on the continent.The study shows an evolution of the salinity in the Middle Bartonian: the basal part has the characteristics of a marine deposit, the top has those of a continental (fresh-water) deposit. The Mg contents are constant in the carbonate part, but this is related to a competition between an argillaceous phase and a carbonate phase towards magnesium. This evolution of the sedimentation area is confirmed by the distribution of Characeae in the Middle Bartonian.The Ludian gypsums of the Paris Basin are really a continental deposit, the lateral, calcareous facies equivalent to the gypsum deposits always present the geochemical characteristics of a continental deposit: carbonates in gypsum formations always have the lowest concentrations of Sr, Na, K, Mg and Zn.Comparison between the evolution of argillaceous and carbonate sediments shows that argillaceous sedimentation is not affected by variations in salinity, but it is very sensitive to variations of the quality and quantity of continental supplies in the sedimentation area.To conclude, an evolutionary paleogeography of this region of the Paris Basin from the middle Bartonian to the Stampian (salinity of water, weathering on the continent…) is proposed.  相似文献

In the Meskala-Kourimat area, the Bouabout Syncline aquifer system, intersected by the Igrounzar Wadi, feeds most of the karstic sources of the region. This aquifer is contained within Cenomanian and Turonian limestones and dolomitic limestones. The base of the system corresponds to the lower Cenomanian grey clays, and the top to the Senonian white marls. Hydrodynamic studies of various springs shows that each water source is different from the other, indicating a heterogeneous underground reservoir belonging to a complex karst system. The springs waters show a large chemical variability in space and time. These waters are a mixture of chloride, sulphate, Na and Mg. High Mg contents of some springs result from dissolution of evaporite, confirmed by low Ca/Mg ratios. The total dissolved solids (TDS) in spring water increases from upstream to downstream, probably as a response to residency time, but also due to interaction with Cenomanian evaporites. However, the springs are good for drinking water, as well as for irrigation. The monthly survey of selected springs indicated a large chemical variability but with little or no correlation between discharge and TDS.Stable isotope data (18O) suggests that the altitude of the recharge area, for this aquifer system, is 1200 m. The 18O gradient versus altitude, established on springs whose recharge areas are well known is, −0.25% versus SMOW/100 m. When compared with the ‘Meteoric Water Line’ established on worldwide spring water whose recharge areas are well known, the Essaouira Basin shows rain recharge without any significant evaporation.  相似文献

The Essaouira synclinal zone is one of the Moroccan semi-arid zones with annual rainfalls not exceeding 300 mm yr−1 and very high potential evapo-transpiration of about 920 mm yr−1. This syncline with a Senonian axial zone is bordered by two diapiric structures of Triassic deposits: the Tidzi Diapir that outcrops in the east and south, and the hidden Essaouira diapir in the west, which was found by geophysics. This syncline contains two main superimposed aquifers. (i) The Plio-Quaternary aquifer consists of sands, sandstone and conglomerates and provides the main part of the water supply. This free-water table flows out towards the northwest and its surface is affected by significant piezometric variations. (ii) The calcareous dolomitic Turonian is a confined aquifer under the Senonian marls in the and in direct contact with the Plio-Quaternary. For a few years, the drinking water supply to the town of Essaouira has come from deep drillings.These two aquifers were sampled in June 1995 and in Januray 1996 after exceptional rainfalls. All waters have the same geochemical profile. The interpretation of the total dissolved solids and chloride content of Plio-Quaternary aquifers makes it possible to specify their origins. It emphasises, in particular, the source from the Ksob Wadi in the northeast and the role of the hidden Essaouira diapir. Nitrate levels were raised excessively, increasing at the same time as chloride concentrations during the rains of the winter of 1996, and underline the wells vulnerability to pastoral and domestic activities.The interpretation of O- and H-isotopes distinguishes two contrasting Plio-Quaternary and Turonian aquifers with an Atlantic origin for the rain recharge. A specific campaign was varried out in November 1996 to date water from the Turonian aquifer by 14C. Two boreholes draw water of several thousands years old.  相似文献

The Fe and Al content of ground and surface waters of a toposequence sampled in Central Cameroun are interpreted as being controlled by equilibrium interactions of water and secondary mineral phases in the macroscopic system. Calculations based on the known thermodynamic properties of ferric hydroxide and kaolinite are consistent with this hypothesis, though microsystems making up the macrosystem contain ephemeral phases that are not in equilibrium with phreatic waters.  相似文献

This paper deals with the environmental characterization of the “Collao de Candela” enclave (Alicante, SE Spain), which in the early 1980s reported strong mining activity mainly due to the extraction of marls. The subsequent abandonment of such quarries produces floods in depressed areas that are constituted as pools. These anthropogenic wetlands are the object of this research. In order to characterize the geometry of the studied wetlands a bathymetry was carried out. Bathymetric data are very important for water managers tasked with assessing wetlands’ status. A chemical and mineralogical characterization has been carried out on the lithologies in the study area. A study was also conducted of the physical and chemical parameters of the waters contained in these pools during one hydrologic cycle. The climate of the zone, having elevated evapotranspiration measurements, favors a progressive concentration of salts in the pools consequence of runoff water washing, the evaporitic sediments as well as from elevated evaporation. The results obtained justify the environmental protection of these marl-gypsum mining quarries as potential wetlands.  相似文献

Trapped-gas content in natural porous media, also called residual gas saturation (Sgr), corresponds to the imbibition end-point. To define the parameters controlling Sgr, two parameters were studied: the influence of rock characteristics (on 400 sandstone samples) and initial gas saturation (Sgi), on the basis of 60 experimental curves between Sgr and Sgi. Based on an extensive experimental database, this study establishes the dominant influence of microporosity on trapped gas saturation, and indirectly that of the contained clays. Durability is one of the most important engineering properties of weak and clay-bearing rocks. Weathering can induce a rapid change in rock material from initial properties to soil-like properties. The sensitivity of a rock type against weatherability is usually described by a durability parameter, such as the slake durability index. However, marl resistance is not detected satisfactorily by the durability indices by using slake durability test as suggested by ISRM for two wetting–drying cycles. The results of this study are obtained from samples of compact or laminated eocene marls from region of Dalmatia, Croatia. The samples were subjected to 4 cycles of slake durability, point load tests, determination of dry density, determination of carbonate content and absorption of water. The scatter of data suggests that strength probably has no influence on the durability of marls. On the other hand a separate group of marl samples have a second-cycle slake durability index higher than approximately 85%, and the durability of these samples is classified as “medium-high” to “high”, although the visual inspection of samples after testing, suggests that they should have “medium” to “low” durability classification. According to obtained results these samples of marl fulfil the criterions for the durability classification: a carbonate content lower than approximately 65%, a dry density lower than 2.4 Mg/m3, and values of water absorption higher than 5%.  相似文献

The marly formations of the city of Iraklion in Crete, Greece, are described and classified according to their mineralogy and physical properties. The residual angle of friction of these marls was determined using ring shear apparatus and the results were correlated with mineral composition and index properties, such as Atterberg limits and grain size distribution. Furthermore, for better understanding of the determined interrelationships between the physical characteristics and the residual strength of these marls, a number of marl-bentonite mixtures were also tested. Thus, the influence of the variation in clay mineral content on the residual strength was studied and correlations with clay-sized fraction and plasticity index were attempted.  相似文献

The lower Oligocene evaporite sequence of the Mulhouse Basin (France) contains organic matter-rich marl deposits. These marls display an overall cyclic variation of sedimentation rate, organic carbon content, hydrogen index and selected molecular parameters over a 30 m thick stratigraphic interval. The integration of all sedimentological and geochemical parameters has allowed the reconstruction and characterization of the paleoenvironment of deposition. The marls were deposited in a perennial lake that was at times connected to the sea. Two organic facies end members could be assigned to a lake stage with a marine connection and a lake stage that received dominantly continental water input. The overall stratigraphic variation in the organic matter content is interpreted to reflect the adaptation of the Oligocene flora to the changing paleoclimate and environmental conditions.  相似文献

Résumé Les textures des minerais de fer précambriens de type «jaspilite» sont semblables à celles des calcaires. Les éléments texturels suivants sont décrits: 1. orthochems: a) fémicrite, b) matrice siliceuse, c) ciment siliceux; 2. allochems: a) pellets, b) intraclastes, c) oolithes et pisolithes, d) échardes. Les types pétrographiques sont définis par la combinaison des éléments de texture, comme pour la classification des calcaires. Les types de faciès sont caractérisés par une séquence de bancs correspondant à un ou plusieurs types pétrographiques et par certaines structures sédimentaires. Ils forment la base de l'interprétation des conditions de dépôt et de la paléogéographie du bassin.Les transformations épigénétiques sont les suivantes: 1. dessication, fissuration, cimentation et compaction. 2. Cristallisation du gel de silice: a) quartz à cristallisation primaire, calcédonite et quartzine, b) quartz micropolygonal, c) quartz recristallisé. 3. Cristallisation de la poussière d'hématite, migration du fer et cristallisation de la spéculante et de la magnétite. 4. Cristallisation et recristallisation de la sidérite, de la minnesotaïte, de la stilpnomélane, de la riebeckite et du talc. La migration du fer et la cristallisation de la spécularite, de la magnétite et de la sidérite prennent place avant la compaction complète du sédiment et avant ou pendant la cristallisation primaire du quartz. Le quartz recristallisé, la minnesotaïte et peut-être le talc et la stilpnomélane, sont des minéraux tardidiagénétiques. La riebeckite se forme pendant le métamorphisme. Les phénomènes de recristallisation se poursuivent pendant le métamorphisme régional.
Textures of Precambrian cherty ironstones are similar to those of limestones. The following textural elements have been recognized: 1. Orthochems: a) femicrite, b) matrix chert, c) cement chert. 2. Allochems: a) pellets, b) intraclasts, c) oolites and pisolites, d) shards. Textural lithotypes are defined by the combination of the textural elements they contain, analogous to the classification of limestones. Textural faciès consist of beds of one or several lithotypes in characteristic sequence. They commonly contain distinguishing sedimentary structures. Textural facies are the basis of the interpretation of the depositional environment and basin configuration.The following types of epigenetic transformations have been recognized: 1. Dessication, shrinkage, cementation and compaction. 2. Crystallization of silicagel in the following sequence: a) primocrystalline quartz and chalcedony (normal and lengthslow), b) micro-polygonal quartz, c) recrystallized quartz. 3. Crystallization of hematite dust, migration of iron and crystallization of specular hematite and of magnetite. 4. Crystallization and recristallization of siderite, minnesotaite, stilpnomelane, riebeckite and talc. Migration of iron and the recristallization of speculante, magnetite and siderite take place essentially before the complete compaction of the rock and before and during the primo-cristallization of quartz. Recrystallized quartz, minnesotaite, and may be stilpnomelane and talc are essentially late diagenetic minerals. Riebeckite formed during metamorphism. A certain recrystallization occured during regional metamorphism.

Zusammenfassung Texturen der präkambrischen, kieseligen Eisensteine (Jaspilite) sind ähnlich denen von Kalken. Folgende Texturelemente wurden erkannt: 1. Orthocheme: a) Femikrit, b) Quarzmatrix (matrix chert), c) Quarzzement (cement chert). 2. Allocheme: a) Pellets, b) Intraklasten, c) Oolithe und Pisolithe, d) Scherden. Texturelle Lithotypen werden definiert durch die Kombination ihrer Texturelemente, wie in Kalken. Texturelle Fazies bestehen aus einem oder mehreren Lithotypen in regelmäßiger Folge. Sie besitzen oft kennzeichnende Strukturen. Texturfazien sind die Grundlage der Rekonstruktion der Bildungsbedingungen, Umwelt und Paläogeographie der Eisensteine.Folgende Arten epigenetischer Veränderungen wurden unterschieden: 1. Trocknung, Schrumpfung, Zementation und Kompaktion. 2. Kristallisation von Silikagel in der Reihenfolge: a) Primärquarz, Chalzedon und Quarzin, b) Kristallisation von Hämatitstaub, Wanderung von Eisen und Kristallisation von Spekulant und Magnetit. 4. Kristallisation und Rekristallisation von Siderit, Minnesotait, Stilpnomelan, Riebeckit und Talk. Wanderung von Eisen sowie Kristallisation von Spekulant, Magnetit und Siderit erfolgen im wesentlichen während der Kompaktion der Gesteine und vor (z. T. während) der Primärkristallisation von Quarz. Rekristallisierter Quarz, Minnesotait und vielleicht Stilpnomelan und Talk bilden sich weitgehend im spätdiagenetischen Stadium. Regionalmetamorphe Reaktionen führen zur Entstehung von Riebeckit und gelegentlich zu weiterer Kornvergröberung aller Minerale.

Authigenic gypsum crystals, along with pyrite and carbonate mineralization, predominantly calcites were noticed in distinct intervals in a 32 m long piston core, collected in the gas hydrate- bearing sediments in the northern portion of the Krishna-Godavari basin, eastern continental margin of India at a water depth of 1691 m. X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive spectrum studies confirm presence of pyrite, gypsum, calcite, and other mineral aggregates. The occurrence of gypsum in such deep sea environment is intriguing, because gypsum is a classical evaporite mineral and is under saturated with respect to sea water. Sedimentological, geochemical evidences point to diagenetic formation of the gypsum due to oxidation of sulphide minerals (i.e. pyrite). Euhedral, transparent gypsum crystals, with pyrite inclusions are cemented with authigenic carbonates, possibly indicating that they were formed authigenically in situ in the gas hydrate-influenced environment due to late burial diagenesis involving sulphate reduction and anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM). Therefore, the authigenic gypsums found in sediments of the Krishna-Godavari and Mahanadi offshore regions could be seen as one of the parameters to imply the presence of high methane flux possibly from gas hydrate at depth.  相似文献

Fine-grained, more or less cohesive carbonate materials are extremely widespread in terms of surface area and are, therefore, commonly used as materials to construct impermeable cores for dams. However, it has not been adequately documented whether the carbonate content in fine-grained soils significantly affects their engineering behaviour. The present study shows that the carbonate content substantially influences the engineering behaviour of clayey material. For this, we subjected 32 samples to different laboratory tests, such as the normal Proctor, the Atterberg limits, granulometric analysis, oedometric and undrained triaxial tests. The resulting parameters were correlated with the carbonate content of the samples.

The materials studied in this work had been used in the construction of the impermeable core of the San Clemente Dam, belonging to the hydrographic basin of the Guadalquivir River (southern Spain). These marls present, as their prime characteristic, a carbonate content of the fine fraction consistently exceeding 50%, giving them special importance in the study of this phenomenon.

In this study, a direct relationship was found between the geotechnical properties of the soils studied and their degree of compaction, with the carbonate content and the type of minerals in the clay being the main factors determining the behaviour of these soils. Finally, we conclude that the percentage of carbonates should be used as a classification criterion for the soils used to construct the cores of earth-filled dams.  相似文献

以IV级围岩为参照对象,研制可用于隧道围岩稳定性物理模型试验的软弱围岩相似材料。采用的5种原材料(重晶石粉、石膏、细砂、洗衣液和水),通过直剪试验、无侧限抗压强度试验及三轴压缩试验测得所配相似材料的强度特征和物理力学参数,包括黏聚力c、内摩擦角?、单轴抗压强度Rc、弹性模量E和泊松比?。首先,通过试验分析每种原材料的不同比例对所配相似材料强度特征及物理力学参数的影响,选择适合于模拟IV级围岩相似材料的原材料配比;其次,针对优选的材料配比所配制的相似材料,开展大量的三轴压缩试验,研究在不同围压下该相似材料的强度及其破坏特征。结果表明,含水率减少或石膏含量增加导致Rc、E和c明显增大,而?降低不明显;增加砂含量可增大E 和?,但Rc值减少;石膏含量对相似材料的脆性和延性影响最明显,而含水率对相似材料的强度影响最为突出。试验结果还表明,相似材料在低围压时呈现脆性,在高围压时呈延性;就破坏准则而言,试验所得结果小于Mohr-Coulomb准则,略大于Hoek-Brown准则,但更符合Hoek-Brown准则。研制软岩相似材料的试验数据可为下一步拟开展的隧道围岩稳定性模型试验和数值模拟提供重要的参考和依据。  相似文献

In Sicily, Messinian evaporitic sedimentary deposits are developed under a wide variety of hypersaline conditions and in environments ranging from continental margin (subaerial), to basin-margin supratidal, to intertidal, to subtidal and out into the hypersaline basin proper. The actual water depth at the time of deposition is indeterminate; however, relative terms such as ‘wave base’ and ‘photic zone’ are utilized. The inter-fingering relationships of specific evaporitic facies having clear and recognizable physical characteristics are presented. These include sub-aerial deposits of nodular calcium sulphate formed displacively within clastic sediments; gypsiferous rudites, arenites and arenitic marls, all of which are reworked sediments and are mixed in varying degrees with other clastic materials (subaerial, supratidal, and intertidal to deep basinal deposits). Laminated calcium sulphate alternating with very thin carbonate interlaminae and having two different aspects; one being even and continuous and the other of a wavy, irregular appearance (subtidal, intertidal, and supratidal deposits). Nodular calcium sulphate beds, usually associated with wavy, irregular laminated beds (supratidal, sabkha deposits); very coarsely crystalline gypsum beds (selenite), associated with more even, laminated beds (subaqueous, intertidal to subtidal deposits); wavy anastomozing gypsum beds, composed of very fine, often broken crystals (subaqueous, current-swept deposits); halite having hopper and chevron structures (supratidal to intertidal); and halite, potash salts, etc. having continuous laminated structure (subaqueous, possibly basinal). Evidence for diagenetic changes is observed in the calcium sulphate deposits which apparently formed by tectonic stress and also by migrating hypersaline waters. These observations suggest that the common, massive form of alabastrine gypsum (or anhydrite, in the subsurface) may not always be ascribed to original depositional features, to syndiagenesis or to early diagenesis but may be the result of late diagenesis.  相似文献

In the Badenian (middle Miocene) basin of the Carpathian foreland of southern Poland, gypsum breccias occur associated with laminated gypsum deposits. These breccias consist of large clasts of gypsum, carbonates, marls and clay chips of variable size embedded in a gypsarenitic matrix. Constituent gypsum grains and clasts commonly appear to be mechanically abraded and chemically corroded crystals or fragments of selenitic, laminated and alabastrine gypsum. Gypsorudites are commonly accompanied by laminated gypsarenites and gypsolutites which show graded bedding; a vertical sequence of graded gypsum beds showing Bouma sequences may be recognized in borehole sections. Microfolding is common within the folded laminated gypsum, and is closely associated with expressions of extensional strain. Both are accompanied by pervasive microfaulting, suggesting a semi-coherent downslope mass movement. The stratiform geometry of the breccias, together with the intensity of slumping relatively independent of the palaeoslope, suggest earthquake shocks as the initial, main cause. Gypsum deposits form a constant, laterally extensive sequence of different lithofacies. The occurrence of the same lithologies and shallowing-up cycles over a wide area reflects thrusting of the Carpathians over the Carpathian foredeep. Local tectonism has also played a significant role. The tectonic framework favoured activation of dip-slip faults promoting shallow-focus earthquakes. These in turn resulted in the resedimentation of gypsum by slumps, debris flows and turbidites. A similar basinward resedimentation of clastic material by gravity flows initiated by fault-induced earthquakes could be of great importance in the foreland geological setting, and may explain some phenomena observed in other evaporite formations from different geological settings, especially of rift type.  相似文献

The flooding of the abandoned iron mines of Lorraine leads to a degradation of the groundwater quality. Laboratory experiments allowed us to build a kinetic chemical model based on simple chemical mechanisms. During mining operations, pyrite oxidation and carbonate dissolution lead to the precipitation of gypsum. The local decrease of pH favours local dissolutions of minerals and releases ions that are fixed on cationic exchange sites. During the flooding of the mine workings, the dissolution of the newly precipitated gypsum, the precipitation of carbonates and cationic exchange reactions are responsible for the increase of the concentrations of sulphate, magnesium, sodium, potassium and strontium in water.
