The remote sensing of Case 2 water has been far less successful than that of Case 1 water, due mainly to the complex interactions among optically active substances (e.g., phytoplankton, suspended sediments, colored dissolved organic matter, and water) in the former. To address this problem, we developed a spectral decomposition algorithm (SDA), based on a spectral linear mixture modeling approach. Through a tank experiment, we found that the SDA-based models were superior to conventional empirical models (e.g. using single band, band ratio, or arithmetic calculation of band) for accurate estimates of water quality parameters. In this paper, we develop a method for applying the SDA to Landsat-5 TM data on Lake Kasumigaura, a eutrophic lake in Japan characterized by high concentrations of suspended sediment, for mapping chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) and non-phytoplankton suspended sediment (NPSS) distributions. The results show that the SDA-based estimation model can be obtained by a tank experiment. Moreover, by combining this estimation model with satellite-SRSs (standard reflectance spectra: i.e., spectral end-members) derived from bio-optical modeling, we can directly apply the model to a satellite image. The same SDA-based estimation model for Chl-a concentration was applied to two Landsat-5 TM images, one acquired in April 1994 and the other in February 2006. The average Chl-a estimation error between the two was 9.9%, a result that indicates the potential robustness of the SDA-based estimation model. The average estimation error of NPSS concentration from the 2006 Landsat-5 TM image was 15.9%. The key point for successfully applying the SDA-based estimation model to satellite data is the method used to obtain a suitable satellite-SRS for each end-member.  相似文献

Indian Remote Sensing satellite (IRS)-1B, Linear Imaging Self Scanner (LISS)-II spectral digital data was analysed to determine the feasibility of quantifying the concentration of suspended solids in the surface water of inland water body, Dal lake, in Srinagar, India. The water samples collected in concurrent with IRS-1B overpass, were analysed to determine the concentration of suspended solids. The results indicate that a positive functional relationship exist between the concentration of suspended solids and the visible wave length bands 1 and 3 and near infrared band 4. It has been observed that as the concentration of suspended solids increase, the spectral response also increases. It is concluded that IRS LISS-H data can be effectively used to quantify suspended sediment concentration in the Dal lake surface water.  相似文献

This study explores the evidence of recharge locations using hydrogeochemical and physicochemical measurements in an alkaline lake, Lake Salda, in Burdur, Turkey. In-situ measurements have been performed using a conductivity–temperature–depth device to map the physicochemical dynamic of the lake. Water and sediment samples were collected on the surface and floor of the lake. A seismic study was also carried out in order to observe the geometry of the lake floor. In addition, thermal distribution was mapped using the thermal band of Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 8 satellite images. Temperature and specific conductance measurements were mapped using a new technique, Empirical Bayesian Kriging (EBK), from the lake’s surface to the floor. According to interpolation maps obtained from the EBK, possible water inputs were observed close to a fault at the south-eastern part of the lake. The results of thermal band imaging also reveal the probability of a fault effecting the recharge on the surface. The results of water and sediment samples present a richness in Mg2+ and Fe2+ elements respectively on the floor of the lake. Finally, seismic results show some possible recharge zones on the floor of the lake, and sediment results indicate that there should be peridotite occurrence below the alluvium unit.  相似文献

In this study, we tested the utility of remotely sensed data in predicting tree species diversity in savanna woodlands. Specifically, we developed linear regression functions based on a combination of the coefficient of variation of near infrared (NIR) radiance and the soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), both derived from advanced space-borne thermal emission and reflection radiometer satellite imagery. Using the regression functions in a Geographic Information System (GIS), we predicted the spatial variations in tree species diversity. Our results showed that tree species diversity can be predicted using a combination of the coefficient of variation of NIR radiance and SAVI. We conclude that remotely sensed data can be used to spatially predict tree species diversity in savanna woodlands.  相似文献

The area around Sataun in the Sirmur district of Himachal Pradesh, India (falling between the rivers Giri and Tons; both tributaries of the Yamuna River) was studied for landslide vulnerability on behalf of the inhabitants. The study was made using extensive remote sensing data (satellite and airborne). It is well supported by field evidence, demographic and infrastructural details and aided by Geographic Information System (GIS) based techniques. Field observations testify that slope, aspect, geology, tectonic planes, drainage, and land use all influence landslides in the region. These parameters were taken into consideration using the statistical approach of landslide hazard zonation. Using the census data of 1991, vulnerability of the populace to the landslide hazard was accessed. As most of the infrastructure in the region is concentrated around population centres, population data alone was used for vulnerability studies.  相似文献

A distributed parameter model Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) has been tested on daily and monthly basis for estimating surface runoff and sediment yield from a small watershed “Chhokeranala” in eastern India using satellite data and Geographical Information System (GIS). Several maps like watershed and sub-watershed boundaries, drainage network, landuse/cover and soil texture have been generated. The SWAT model has been verified for the initial phase of monsoon season in the year 2002 using daily rainfall and air temperature. Performance of the model has been also evaluated to simulate the surface runoff and sediment yield on sub-watershed basis for two months (July-August 2002). The results show a good agreement between observed and simulated runoff and sediment yield during the study period. Capability of the model for generating rainfall has been evaluated for 10 years (1992 - 2001) period. The model simulated daily rainfall shows close agreement with the observed rainfall. The present results show that the SWAT model can be used for satisfactory simulation of daily and monthly rainfall, runoff and sediment yield.  相似文献

The opening of the Bonnet Carré spillway to prevent flood threat to New Orleans in April 2008 created a sediment plume in the Lake Pontchartrain. The nutrient rich plume triggered a massive algal bloom in the lake. In this article, we have quantified the spatio-temporal distribution of the plume (suspended solids) and the bloom (chlorophyll-a (chl-a)) in the lake using remotely-sensed data. We processed the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer satellite data for mapping the total suspended solids (TSS) and chl-a concentrations. An existing algorithm was used for estimating TSS whereas a novel slope model was developed to predict the per-pixel chl-a concentration. Both algorithms were successful in capturing the spatio-temporal trend of TSS and chl-a concentrations, respectively. Algal growth was found to be inversely related to TSS concentrations and a time lag of ~45 days existed between the spillway opening and the appearance of the first algal bloom at an observation location.  相似文献

Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems in the world and any alterations might lead to changes in their bio-physical, socio-economic and climatic conditions. Wetland dynamics as an index of land use change were studied. Satellite remote sensing was utilized to understand the periodic and seasonal dynamics of Samaspur wetlands using Landsat and RESOURCESAT-1 temporal data. Index-based (i.e., Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)) classification resulted in meaningful discrimination of wetland classes. Results indicate (i) effective water spread areas have increased to optimum capacity at 1990 due to the influence of Sharda canal, (ii) expansion of the agricultural area has led to reduction of the wetland buffer area, and (iii) increase in vegetation biomass due to pesticide-fertilizer runoff and sedimentation load. We also reiterate (i) free availability of the Landsat satellite data in public domain facilitating such monitoring studies and (ii) availability and utility of SWIR band information in wetland classification exercise. The study concludes that policy-driven measures have both long and short term impacts on land use and its natural wetland ecosystems; and the characterizing the later serves as indictor of the former and perhaps vice versa.  相似文献

Traditional approaches of image classification, such as maximum likelihood and the band thresholding method, involve the per-pixel approach to delineate the water spread area of a reservoir. One of the limitations of these approaches is that the pixels representing the reservoir border, containing a mixture of water, soil and vegetation, are classified entirely as water, thereby resulting in inaccurate estimates of the water spread area. To compute the water spread area accurately, the sub-pixel approach has been used in this study. The water spread areas extracted using per-pixel and sub-pixel approaches from IRS-1D and P6 satellite image data were in turn used to quantify the capacity of the Singoor reservoir, Andhra Pradesh, India. The estimated capacity of the reservoir using the per-pixel and sub-pixel approaches was 727.75 Mm3 and 716.11 Mm3, respectively. The validation shows that the sub-pixel approach produced much less error (1.08%) than the per-pixel based approach (3.14%).  相似文献

利用青海湖水面场FY-1C气象卫星热红外窗区通道进行绝对辐射定标,由CE312野外热红外辐射计在水面测得辐亮度经大气订正传递到卫星入瞳处,考虑到大气吸收削弱影响,同时卫星观测路径大气产生热发散,这两部分对卫星信号的贡献由探空廓线和卫星观测几何输入MODTRAN37计算出来,同时进行CE312野外辐射计与卫星通道光谱响应匹配计算,最终得到卫星入瞳处的表观亮度.这个辐亮度与卫星通道的计数值比较得到该通道绝对定标系数.结果表明利用辐射校正场辐射定标与星上定标相差5%左右,相当于3K的亮温差.  相似文献

In the present paper, various groundwater potential zones for the assessment of groundwater availability in a hard rock terrain have been delineated with the help of hydrogeological parameters using satellite IRS- 1B-LISS-II digital data. Area selected for this study is a part of Bargarh district, Orissa, India covering an area of about 680 square km. Satellite data has been used to prepare geological-cum-lineaments, geomorphological, landuse and drainage maps. The various thematic maps have been integrated with the help of Geographic Information System to demarcate the poor to excellent groundwater potential zones. Weightage has been given to various groundwater controlling factors to the total groundwater potential in each segment of study area. Subsequently, several sites were selected and pumping tests carded out in the area. The results show that among others, lineaments as well as drainage density are the most important contributory factors in the groundwater potential of various geomorphic units in the area of investigation.  相似文献

A Laboratory experiment has been conducted to establish relation between absolute percent reflectance as measured by Exotech spectro-radiometer compatible to LANDSAT MSS and corresponding known sediment concentrations in a specially designed laboratory sedimentation tank under known illumination conditions. Sediment samples are collected from the bed load deposits of JAYAKWADI reservoir by using a bed load sampler and are analysed in the laboratory for their particle size distribution. Sediment concentrations in the range of 50–1100 mg/l are used in the experiment. A multiple linear regression equation has been developed between absolute percent reflectance and sediment concentration. The results indicate that diffused absolute reflectance from water volume increases with increased sediment concentration and separability between bands is higher at higher concentrations. Exotech band 2 provides significant response from suspended sediment concentrations. There is almost one to one correspondence between predicted (from the model) suspended sediment concentrations and actual concentrations with a coefficient of determination of 0.962 and a standard eror of estimate of 56.47 mg/l. This may be due to the fact that most of the noise sources are nearly eliminated in the controlled laboratory experiment.  相似文献

Runoff modelling of a small watershed using satellite data and GIS   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This study was conducted for the Nagwan watershed of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Hazaribagh, Bihar, India. Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to extract the hydrological parameters of the watershed from the remote sensing and field data. The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) was prepared using contour map (Survey of India, 1:50000 scale) of the watershed. The EASI/PACE GIS software was used to extract the topographic features and to delineate watershed and overland flow-paths from the DEM. Land use classification were generated from data of Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-1B—LISS—II) to compute runoff Curve Number (CN). Data extracted from contour map, soil map and satellite imagery, viz. drainage basin area, basin shape, average slope of the watershed, main stream channel slope, land use, hydrological soil groups and CN were used for developing an empirical model for surface runoff prediction. It was found that the model can predict runoff reasonably well and is well suited for the Nagwan watershed. Design of conservation structures can be done and their effects on direct runoff can be evaluated using the model. In broader sense it could be concluded that model can be applied for estimating runoff and evaluating its effect on structures of the Nagwan watershed.  相似文献

水利部珠江水利委员会以卫星遥感资料为信息源对珠江河口湾──伶仃洋进行动态监测已有13a的历史, 积累的资料有:1973年至1992年25个时相的各种潮情及水情的卫星影像资料。该动态监测研究主要是进行河口湾水体悬浮泥沙含量及其分布特征研究; 岸线和近岸浅滩地形及其动态变化研究; 流场特征研究; 河(海)岸及近岸工程的现状与变化及其对河口的水动力影响等研究。采用的主要技术方法是综合运用计算机和光学图像处理技术对卫星遥感图像进行处理, 并据河口水动力学与地学理论进行分析。分析成果为伶仃洋河口治理开发规划与工程实施、滩涂资源的合理开发、航道开发与治理等提供了新的科学依据。其中一些合理建议已为生产部门所采纳。发挥了很好的经济效益和社会效益。  相似文献

通过黄河口含沙水体野外遥感光谱反射率的观测实验,探讨了黄河口水体表观光谱特性,分析了悬浮体中有机颗粒含量和悬沙粒度对光谱特性的影响。针对Landsat TM/ETM^+影像波段特性,对黄河口含沙水体在其可见光至近红外4个波段的光谱特性进行了模拟分析,并结合表观光谱观测数据建立了经验回归函数,以估测不同时相黄河口水体表层悬沙的浓度。  相似文献

Since coastal waters are one of the most vulnerable marine systems to environmental pollution, it is very important to operationally monitor coastal water quality. This study attempts to estimate two major water quality indicators, chlorophyll-a (chl-a) and suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentrations, in coastal environments on the west coast of South Korea using Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) satellite data. Three machine learning approaches including random forest, Cubist, and support vector regression (SVR) were evaluated for coastal water quality estimation. In situ measurements (63 samples) collected during four days in 2011 and 2012 were used as reference data. Due to the limited number of samples, leave-one-out cross validation (CV) was used to assess the performance of the water quality estimation models. Results show that SVR outperformed the other two machine learning approaches, yielding calibration R2 of 0.91 and CV root-mean-squared-error (RMSE) of 1.74 mg/m3 (40.7%) for chl-a, and calibration R2 of 0.98 and CV RMSE of 11.42 g/m3 (63.1%) for SPM when using GOCI-derived radiance data. Relative importance of the predictor variables was examined. When GOCI-derived radiance data were used, the ratio of band 2 to band 4 and bands 6 and 5 were the most influential input variables in predicting chl-a and SPM concentrations, respectively. Hourly available GOCI images were useful to discuss spatiotemporal distributions of the water quality parameters with tidal phases in the west coast of Korea.  相似文献

Space-borne ocean-colour remote sensor-detected radiance is heavily contaminated by solar radiation backscattered by the atmospheric air molecules and aerosols. Hence, the first step in ocean-colour data processing is the removal of this atmospheric contribution from the sensor-detected radiance to enable detection of optically active oceanic constituents e.g. chlorophyll-a, suspended sediment etc. In standard atmospheric correction procedure for OCEANSAT-1 Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) data, NIR bands centered at 765 and 865 nm wavelengths were used for aerosol characterization. Due to high absorption by water molecules, ocean surface in these two wavelengths acts as dark background, therefore, sensor detected radiance can be assumed to have major contribution from atmospheric scattering. For coastal turbid waters this assumption of dark surface fails due to the presence of highly scattering sediments which causes sufficient water-leaving radiance in NIR bands and lead to over-estimation of aerosol radiance resulting in negative water leaving radiance for λ < 700 nm. In the present study, for the turbid coastal waters in the northern Bay of Bengal, the concept of spatial homogeneity of aerosol and water leaving reflectance has been applied to perform atmospheric correction of OCAEANSAT-1 OCM data. The results of the turbid water atmospheric correction have also been validated using in-situ measured water-leaving radiance. Comparison of satellite derived water-leaving radiance for five coastal stations with in-situ measured radiance spectra, indicates an improvement over the standard atmospheric correction algorithm giving physically realistic and positive values. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) between the in-situ measured and satellite derived water leaving radiance for wavelengths 412 nm, 443 nm, 490 nm, 512 nm and 555 nm was found to be 1.11, 0.718, 0.575, 0.611 and 0.651%, respectively, using standard atmospheric correction procedure. By the use of spatial homogeneity concept, this error was reduced to 0.125, 0.173, 0.176, 0.225, and 0.290 and the correlation coefficient arrived at 0.945, which is an improvement over the standard atmospheric correction procedure.  相似文献

Conservation of wetland is considered paramount in view of its ecological significance. The availability of reliable and up-to-date data on seasonal water spread, tropic state of wetland and bio-physical parameters besides the landuse/cover of the catchment area is a prerequisite for ‘wise use’ of any wetland ecosystem. The present study is carried out to identify the above parameters of Loktak notified wetland through visual interpretation of 1RS IA/IB LISS II FCC of 1990 and 1994/95. It indicates that the water spread of the lake is showing a declining trend and an increasing trend for aquatic vegetation. In 1990 post-monsoon data water spread was 15441 ha which become 11166 ha in October 1994. The extent of water spread further decreases by pre-monsoon season and was found to be 7875 ha in the IRS LISS II data of March 1995. Like-wise area under aquatic vegetation and associated marshy/ swamps was 10499 ha in October 1990 and 13506 ha in October 1994. Catchment of Loktak lake (104872 ha) is highly degraded and forest covers only 7205 ha area. Agriculture is the main land use (35576 ha) in the catchment and substantial area is also under land with or without scrub. Thus, there is a need to rehabilitate the catchment by way of planting trees for reducing silt load in the Loktak lake and ensuring its ‘wise use’.  相似文献

湖泊是气候变化的敏感指示器,快速准确地获取湖泊水体信息对区域气候变化研究、区域生态环境保护和治理具有重要意义。本文基于高分六号(GF-6) WFV数据,以可可西里地区4个湖泊为研究对象,分别采用单波段法、波段差值法、归一化差异水体指数(NDWI)法提取了水体面积,并以目视解译所得结果作为参考标准,对不同方法的提取结果进行了精度评价。结果表明,单波段法易受浅水区水体影响,但受积雪的影响较小,而波段差值法和NDWI法受积雪影响较大;NDWI法虽能有效提取浅水区水体,但仍受一定程度湖底沉积物的影响;波段差值法与单波段法和NDWI法相比,能有效区分浅水区水体和背景地物。  相似文献

针对滇池水体污染问题,通过对滇池区域ETM+影像采用监督分类、混合像元分解等方法,得到水体的蓝藻污染、悬浮泥沙的全湖区相对丰度分布,从中确定高浓度区.达到对滇池水体监测的目的,以期对滇池水体污染进行监测、恢复区域生态脆弱区起到指导作用。  相似文献
