Spatial analysis, including viewshed analysis, is an important aspect of the Digital Earth system. Viewshed analysis is usually performed on a large scale, so efficiency is important in any Digital Earth application making these calculations. In this paper, a real-time algorithm for viewshed analysis in 3D scenes is presented by using the parallel computing capabilities of a graphics processing unit (GPU). In contrast to traditional algorithms based on line-of-sight, this algorithm runs completely within the programmable 3D visualization pipeline to render 3D terrains with viewshed analysis. The most important difference is its integration of the viewshed calculation with the rendering module. Invisible areas are rendered as shadows in the 3D scene. The algorithm process is paralleled by rasterizer units in the graphics card and by vertex and pixel shaders executed on the GPU. We have implemented this method in our 3D Digital Earth system with the DirectX 9.0c API and tested on some consumer-level PC platforms with interactive frame-rates and high image quality. 软件接收机在数据后处理、算法设计与分析等方面发挥着重要的作用。由于传统的软件接收机均是由CPU 处理器实现,处理效率低下。图像处理单元是高度并行化的处理器,将导航信号处理中并行程度高且对时间要求最为严格的跟踪环节与GPU 的并行处理结构有机结合,能大大提升程序的效率。本文解决了采用GPU实现信号跟踪的关键技术,给出了相关的设计方案,并实现。试验结果表明:采用GPU 实现信号的跟踪,其效率提升了112.5倍。  相似文献

The quality and accuracy of remote sensing instruments have been improved significantly, however, rapid processing of large-scale remote sensing data becomes the bottleneck for remote sensing quantitative retrieval applications. The remote sensing quantitative retrieval is a data-intensive computation application, which is one of the research issues of high throughput computation. The remote sensing quantitative retrieval Grid workflow is a high-level core component of remote sensing Grid, which is used to support the modeling, reconstruction and implementation of large-scale complex applications of remote sensing science. In this paper, we intend to study middleware components of the remote sensing Grid – the dynamic Grid workflow based on the remote sensing quantitative retrieval application on Grid platform. We designed a novel architecture for the remote sensing Grid workflow. According to this architecture, we constructed the Remote Sensing Information Service Grid Node (RSSN) with Condor. We developed a graphic user interface (GUI) tools to compose remote sensing processing Grid workflows, and took the aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrieval as an example. The case study showed that significant improvement in the system performance could be achieved with this implementation. The results also give a perspective on the potential of applying Grid workflow practices to remote sensing quantitative retrieval problems using commodity class PCs.  相似文献

Geospatial Semantic Web promises better retrieval geospatial information for Digital Earth systems by explicitly representing the semantics of data through ontologies. It also promotes sharing and reuse of geospatial data by encoding it in Semantic Web languages, such as RDF, to form geospatial knowledge base. For many applications, rapid retrieval of spatial data from the knowledge base is critical. However, spatial data retrieval using the standard Semantic Web query language – Geo-SPARQL – can be very inefficient because the data in the knowledge base are no longer indexed to support efficient spatial queries. While recent research has been devoted to improving query performance on general knowledge base, it is still challenging to support efficient query of the spatial data with complex topological relationships. This research introduces a query strategy to improve the query performance of geospatial knowledge base by creating spatial indexing on-the-fly to prune the search space for spatial queries and by parallelizing the spatial join computations within the queries. We focus on improving the performance of Geo-SPARQL queries on knowledge bases encoded in RDF. Our initial experiments show that the proposed strategy can greatly reduce the runtime costs of Geo-SPARQL query through on-the-fly spatial indexing and parallel execution.  相似文献

暗目标法的Himawari-8静止卫星数据气溶胶反演   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Himawari-8(H8)是由日本气象厅发射的新一代静止气象卫星,可实现10 min/次的高频次对地观测,搭载的AHI(Advanced Himawari Imager)传感器设置有与MODIS暗目标气溶胶反演算法所需的类似波段。本文参考暗目标算法构建了针对该卫星传感器的陆地气溶胶反演算法:首先,通过基于地基站点观测数据的精确大气校正,统计得到短波红外与可见光波段的地表反射率比值关系,将此作为先验知识用于地—气解耦时的反射率估计;然后,初步假设大陆型气溶胶类型,利用辐射传输模型建立查找表;最后,通过模拟与卫星观测的表观反射率误差最小实现气溶胶光学厚度反演解算。选取2016年5月覆盖京津冀地区的观测数据进行测试,将反演结果与对应时间的MODIS气溶胶光学厚度产品进行对比验证,空间分布趋势一致、相关性较高,相关系数R达到0.852;通过与地基观测网AERONET站点实测数据对比验证,所有站点的相关系数R~2均大于0.88,精度较高。利用反演的高时间分辨率产品,分析了京津冀地区的大气空间分布和日变化情况,结果表明:采用暗目标法对H8静止卫星陆地气溶胶光学厚度反演具有一定的潜力和可行性,能反映气溶胶的高时间变化信息,有望成为大气环境污染变化监测新的重要手段。  相似文献

多核处理器已成为当前通用计算机体系架构的主流,相应的多核并行计算技术及其应用引起了越来越多的重视,而传统的GNSS数据处理程序都是针对单处理器体系架构编写的。本文对当前多核环境下多时段或者多测站的GNSS数据处理所涉及的计算密集型任务并行算法进行研究,分析了GNSS数据处理涉及的热点计算任务,提出基于分块理论的矩阵乘法运算、矩阵分解运算等数值计算并行方法,对比了单核和多核环境下的计算时间。通过多个算例验证多核并行设计方法的有效性,利用.NET4.0框架下的Parallel Extensions实现相关并行设计。实验结果表明,GNSS数据处理的多核并行计算能充分发挥多核体系带来的性能优势,极大提高资源利用效率和GNSS数据处理效率。  相似文献

Abstract

Geospatial simulation models can help us understand the dynamic aspects of Digital Earth. To implement high-performance simulation models for complex geospatial problems, grid computing and cloud computing are two promising computational frameworks. This research compares the benefits and drawbacks of both in Web-based frameworks by testing a parallel Geographic Information System (GIS) simulation model (Schelling's residential segregation model). The parallel GIS simulation model was tested on XSEDE (a representative grid computing platform) and Amazon EC2 (a representative cloud computing platform). The test results demonstrate that cloud computing platforms can provide almost the same parallel computing capability as high-end grid computing frameworks. However, cloud computing resources are more accessible to individual scientists, easier to request and set up, and have more scalable software architecture for on-demand and dedicated Web services. These advantages may attract more geospatial scientists to utilize cloud computing for the development of Digital Earth simulation models in the future.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Digital Earth has seen great progress during the last 19 years. When it entered into the era of big data, Digital Earth developed into a new stage, namely one characterized by ‘Big Earth Data’, confronting new challenges and opportunities. In this paper we give an overview of the development of Digital Earth by summarizing research achievements and marking the milestones of Digital Earth’s development. Then, the opportunities and challenges that Big Earth Data faces are discussed. As a data-intensive scientific research approach, Big Earth Data provides a new vision and methodology to Earth sciences, and the paper identifies the advantages of Big Earth Data to scientific research, especially in knowledge discovery and global change research. We believe that Big Earth Data will advance and promote the development of Digital Earth.  相似文献

Aerosol and water vapour are very important element in the Earth’s climate system which has direct role in the Earth’s radiation budget. In this paper the seasonality, latitudinal distribution and the relationship of aerosol optical thickness (AOD) and water vapour (WV) using MODIS Level 3 monthly data from 2001 to 2008 are analysed. The analysis shows that AOD (0.55 μm) values reach maximum during southwest monsoon and remain minimum during northeast monsoon period. The Equatorial Indian Ocean shows minimum AOD (0.115 to 0.153) throughout the year compared to Arabian Sea (0.208 to 0.613) and Bay of Bengal (0.214 to 0.351). Arabian Sea shows high variation and maximum value of AOD compared to Bay of Bengal and Equatorial Indian Ocean. During southwest monsoon WV over Bay of Bengal was found higher in concentration compared to Arabian Sea and Equitorial Indian Ocean throughout the study period. Comparison between Arabian Sea (2.98 cm to 5.07 cm) and Bay of Bengal (3.49 cm to 5.94 cm) shows that WV concentration is less in Arabian Sea throughout the year. The analysis of correlation between WV and AOD was found to be inconsistent. However, AOD and WV shows a strong positive correlation for whole year (Mean R2 =0.90) in the Equitorial Indian Ocean region except in the months of January, February and March. In general, the correlation between WV and AOD is found to be strongly positive for oceanic aerosol (sea salt) in low water vapour condition.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Based on the experience of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), this paper describes some challenges foreseen in order to develop a Digital Earth platform that can support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The use of ready-to-use derived geospatial information is essential. Future Earth’s methodology of ‘co-design’ aims to bring together natural, social scientists and decision makers to plan and carry out research for sustainability. Sustainability implies transdisciplinary research, but in order for scientists of different disciplines to work together, they will need to be able to share, access and use common data. This is by far not simple! While the good will to share data might exist, the associated technological, ethical and privacy issues are difficult to solve. An adequate e-infrastructure will be required. ISDE could consider to use the SDGs is the basis to develop the desired Digital Earth platform. This paper, by no means, covers everything for a Digital Earth platform, it aims to trigger research discussions and to have a good view about a starting point.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Since Al Gore created the vision for Digital Earth in 1998, a wide range of research in this field has been published in journals. However, little attention has been paid to bibliometric analysis of the literature on Digital Earth. This study uses a bibliometric analysis methodology to study the publications related to Digital Earth in the Science Citation Index database and Social Science Citation Index database (via the Web of Science online services) during the period from 1998 to 2015. In this paper, we developed a novel keyword set for ‘Digital Earth’. Using this keyword set, 11,061 scientific articles from 23 subject categories were retrieved. Based on the searched articles, we analyzed the spatiotemporal characteristics of publication outputs, the subject categories and the major journals. Then, authors’ performance, affiliations, cooperation, and funding institutes were evaluated. Finally, keywords were examined. Through keyword clustering, research hotspots in the field of Digital Earth were detected. We assume that the results coincide well with the position of Digital Earth research in the context of big data.  相似文献

遥感影像CVA变化检测的CUDA并行算法设计   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
随着遥感影像数据量以及复杂程度的日益增加,遥感图像的快速处理成为实际应用过程中亟需解决的问题。为了实现遥感影像的实时变化检测,针对基于变化矢量分析CVA的变化检测算法,设计了一种基于统一计算设备构架CUDA的并行处理模型。首先利用地理空间数据提取库GDAL实现大数据量遥感影像的分块读取、操作和保存;其次将基于变化矢量分析的变化检测过程分为变化强度检测、映射表构建和变化方向检测,并借助CUDA C将变化矢量分析算法的3个步骤嵌入到CPU和GPU组成的异构平台上进行实验;最后利用该模型对不同数据量的遥感影像进行CVA变化检测并作对比分析。实验结果表明:与CPU串行相比,基于GPU/CUDA的遥感影像CVA的变化检测速度提高了10倍左右;在一定程度上,达到了实时变化检测的效果。  相似文献

Abstract

While significant progress has been made to implement the Digital Earth vision, current implementation only makes it easy to integrate and share spatial data from distributed sources and has limited capabilities to integrate data and models for simulating social and physical processes. To achieve effectiveness of decision-making using Digital Earth for understanding the Earth and its systems, new infrastructures that provide capabilities of computational simulation are needed. This paper proposed a framework of geospatial semantic web-based interoperable spatial decision support systems (SDSSs) to expand capabilities of the currently implemented infrastructure of Digital Earth. Main technologies applied in the framework such as heterogeneous ontology integration, ontology-based catalog service, and web service composition were introduced. We proposed a partition-refinement algorithm for ontology matching and integration, and an algorithm for web service discovery and composition. The proposed interoperable SDSS enables decision-makers to reuse and integrate geospatial data and geoprocessing resources from heterogeneous sources across the Internet. Based on the proposed framework, a prototype to assist in protective boundary delimitation for Lunan Stone Forest conservation was implemented to demonstrate how ontology-based web services and the services-oriented architecture can contribute to the development of interoperable SDSSs in support of Digital Earth for decision-making.  相似文献

This research develops a parallel scheme to adopt multiple graphics processing units (GPUs) to accelerate large‐scale polygon rasterization. Three new parallel strategies are proposed. First, a decomposition strategy considering the calculation complexity of polygons and limited GPU memory is developed to achieve balanced workloads among multiple GPUs. Second, a parallel CPU/GPU scheduling strategy is proposed to conceal the data read/write times. The CPU is engaged with data reads/writes while the GPU rasterizes the polygons in parallel. This strategy can save considerable time spent in reading and writing, further improving the parallel efficiency. Third, a strategy for utilizing the GPU's internal memory and cache is proposed to reduce the time required to access the data. The parallel boundary algebra filling (BAF) algorithm is implemented using the programming models of compute unified device architecture (CUDA), message passing interface (MPI), and open multi‐processing (OpenMP). Experimental results confirm that the implemented parallel algorithm delivers apparent acceleration when a massive dataset is addressed (50.32 GB with approximately 1.3 × 108 polygons), reducing conversion time from 25.43 to 0.69 h, and obtaining a speedup ratio of 36.91. The proposed parallel strategies outperform the conventional method and can be effectively extended to a CPU‐based environment.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the service-oriented infrastructure within the Wide Area Grid project that was carried out within the Working Group on Information Systems and Services of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites. The developed infrastructure integrates services and computational resources of several regional and national Grid systems: Ukrainian Academician Grid (with satellite data processing Grid segment, UASpaceGrid) and Grid system at the Center on Earth Observation and Digital Earth of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The study focuses on integrating geo-information services on flood mapping provided by Ukrainian and Chinese entities to benefit from information acquired from multiple sources. We also describe services for workflow automation and management in Grid environment and provide an example of workflow automation for generating flood maps from optical and synthetic-aperture radar satellite imagery. We also discuss issues of enabling trust for the infrastructure using certificates and reputation-based model. Applications of utilizing the developed infrastructure for operational flood mapping in Ukraine and China are given as well.  相似文献

气候模式对气溶胶光学厚度AOD的合理模拟,是模拟研究气溶胶气候效应的前提。利用在线耦合的区域气候—大气化学—气溶胶耦合模式系统RIEMS-Chem,模拟研究了2010年中国东部地区AOD的季节变化情况。模拟结果与卫星搭载的中分辨率成像光谱仪(MODIS)的反演资料和地基气溶胶观测网(AERONET)的站点观测资料分别进行了一年四季的详细对比,检验结果显示尽管模拟值有所低估,模式仍然能够合理地反映AOD的季节变化情况和空间分布特征,与AERONET站点观测值相比,整体相关系数为0.6。MODIS反演和相应模拟结果均显示,中国东部地区AOD整体水平夏季最大,春季次之,秋、冬季最小,华北平原、四川盆地和华中地区是AOD的主要大值区。只考虑日间AOD时,其季节分布特征略有不同,在华北平原地区,日间AOD夏季最大(1.1—1.5),在长江中下游流域地区,日间AOD则在春季最大(1.1—1.7);在中国东部,日间AOD的大值在夏、冬两季分别主要分布在长江以北、以南地区,而在春、秋两季则主要位于长江中下游流域。  相似文献

Abstract

Digital Earth's framework can be traced to evolutionary threads with historic foundations that fostered the fertile conceptual and technological incubation. These threads incorporate writings, such as those of the visionary engineering-genius, Buckminster Fuller, in conjunction with an array of space age developments in computers, internet and communications, satellites, and education. In 1998, when Vice President Al Gore articulated the Digital Earth Vision, he portrayed the vision based upon myriad technology factors for the intellectual foundation and sparked a worldwide phenomenon that fortuitously included the Chinese leadership's recognition and acceptance. The Beijing Declaration is recognised for its role promulgating the International Digital Earth Symposium series to promote better understanding of the impacts of Digital Earth technology and applications on behalf of all humankind. Combinations of industrial, academic, and government organisations have advanced the technological components necessary for implementing the Digital Earth Vision at a prodigious rate. Commercial leaders, such as Google, have accelerated the influence of large segments of society towards components of the Digital Earth Vision. However, challenges still remain regarding requisite collaboration on international standards for metadata, interoperability, and data formats for space and time that will affect Digital Earth implementation scenarios. Functional requirements for the model Digital Earth geobrowser remain to be fully articulated. The current paper presents an overview of the historical components, the key players on the international scene, the catalytic technological advances, and the societal response to the growth of the Digital Earth community.  相似文献
