A range of evidence from the Lachlan valley in the southeast Australian highlands is consistent with Neogene isostatic rebound in response to denudational unloading. This evidence is found along the inland edge of the highlands in the transition zone between the highlands proper and the Lachlan's inland alluviated valley and the intracratonic Murray Basin. The amounts and rates of uplift indicated by offsets of suballuvium bedrock profiles and the long profiles of Tertiary valley-filling basalts are consistent with modelling of denudational rebound using known rates of highland denudation and basinal sedimentation, and reasonable crustal properties. The modelling shows that weak to moderately strong strong lithosphere (effective elastic thickness, Te = 1-25 km) and strong lithosphere (Te = 100 km) are all consistent with the observed amounts of rebound. Strong lithosphere must be broken, however, to be consistent with the field data. Even in the Australian setting, which is characterized by very low rates of denudation, isostatic rebound in response to denudational unloading must be a significant factor in maintaining highland elevation and must be incorporated in models of long-term landscape evolution. It would be expected that denudational isostatic rebound would be an even more significant component of long-term landscape evolution in areas of higher denudation rates.  相似文献

The paper presents a denudational rift flank uplift model of the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India. The Cenozoic denudation of the Deccan plateau was constrained by relative dating of regional planation surface levels, in combination with preliminary apatite fission track results. The denudational history of the Western Ghats escarpment coastal foreland was constrained both by onshore fission track and offshore sediment data. Methods are briefly described. Results were used as reference data to elaborate a computer simulation model of both flexural rift flank upwarp and escarpment retreat from the K/T boundary to the present. Depending on the assumptions concerning the attributes of the thin elastic lithospheric sheet (infinite or semi-infinite), the shape and elevation of the initial Deccan topography (flat-lying, or affected by lithospheric updoming due to the Reunion mantle plume) and the position of the continental divide upon rifting, the flexural response to denudational unloading is shown to yield either a concave-up flexure of the Dharwar craton, or a convex, monoclinal downwarp of the margin. The relative merits of each model are discussed in the light of auxiliary field evidence, particularly from the neighbouring Deccan traps. On the basis of the reality of recent tectonic movement and discarding such a viewpoint that the isostatic adjust-ment only results from excessive or insufficient compensation,we have discussed the tectonic stress causing ine-auality and regarded the isostatic anomaly as a load on the earth‘s interior,thus the earth‘s inner stress can be cal-culated.The research results show that in the East China Sea and its eastern marginal seas the change of the verti-cal stress derived from the isostatic gravity anomaly is more marked than that of the horizontal stress.Along the Ryukyu trench there is an enhancement of vertical stress by 5MPa,which evidently reflects the effect of plate subduction.On contrary,along the island are to the northwest of the trench the vertical stress weakens by about5MPa.The horizontal stresses in eastern and western parts are obviously different,the east westward stress on the oceanic crust σx is negative(while the pressure is positive)but on the continental crust in positive.These facts indicate the effect of compression between plates.  相似文献

内蒙古大青山及其毗邻的呼和浩特断陷盆地是研究剥蚀和地壳均衡隆起的理想地区。本文提供了大青山新生代等高峰顶面和晚第四纪河流阶地拱曲变形的证据 ;依据呼和浩特盆地的地震探测获得的沉积厚度 ,计算出大青山的剥蚀和地壳均衡隆起量 ;提出地壳均衡隆起是大青山晚第三纪以来主要的区域变形机制 ;指出由於地壳均衡隆起 ,剥蚀作用最终只是使大青山高度略微降低 ;同时复原了大青山新生代景观演化历史。本文还讨论了剥蚀和地壳均衡隆起之间的耦合关系以及断裂作用在其中的地位 ,认为大青山新生代景观演化是在剥蚀去荷失去重力平衡和均衡隆起恢复重力平衡的长期自身耦合作用中进行的 ,在此过程中断层的下降盘由主动盘变成被动盘  相似文献

A south to north gradient of increasing marine isotope substage (MIS) 5a (∼80 ka BP) sea level has been recorded across the Caribbean and surrounding region. Relative to present, MIS-5a sea levels range from −19 m to more than +3 m between Barbados, Haiti, the Bahamas, Florida, Bermuda and the US Atlantic Coast. In contrast, no gradient in sea level is observed for the last interglacial period MIS-5e (∼128–118 ka BP) at tectonically stable localities in the same region, with deposits generally lying several metres above present. We demonstrate here that these controversial observations are reconciled by taking into account the isostatic response of the Earth to glacial loading and unloading – a fundamental effect that is commonly overlooked in the interpretation of sea-level observations from different locations to define a ‘global sea-level curve’. Furthermore, the observed gradient can be used to place constraints on Earth rheology and is an important indicator of the behaviour of the North American ice sheets during the last glacial cycle.  相似文献

The Southern Granulite Terrain of India, formed through an ancient continental collision and uplift of the earth’s surface, was accompanied by thickening of the crust. Once the active tectonism ceased, the buoyancy of these deep crustal roots must have supported the Nilgiri and Palani-Cardamom hills. Here, the gravity field has been utilized to provide new constraints on how the force of buoyancy maintains the state of isostasy in the Southern Granulite Terrain. Isostatic calculations show that the seismically derived crustal thickness of 43–44 km in the Southern Granulite Terrain is on average 7–8 km more than that required to isostatically balance the present-day topography. This difference cannot be solely explained applying a constant shift in the mean sea level crustal thickness of 32 km. The isostatic analysis thus indicates that the current topography of the Southern Granulite Terrain is overcompensated, and about 1.0 km of the topographic load must have been eroded from this region without any isostatic readjustment. The observed gravity anomaly, an order of magnitude lower than that expected (−125 mGal), however, shows that there is no such overcompensation. Thermal perturbations up to Pan-African, present-day high mantle heat flow and low Te together negate the possible resistance of the lithosphere to rebound in response to erosional unloading. To isostatically compensate the crustal root, compatible to seismic Moho, a band of high density (2,930 kg m−3) in the lower crust and low density (3,210 kg m−3) in the lithospheric mantle below the Southern Granulite Terrain is needed. A relatively denser crust due to two distinct episodes of metamorphic phase transitions at 2.5 Ga and 550 Ma and highly mobilized upper mantle during Pan-African thermal perturbation reduced significantly the root buoyancy that kept the crust pulled downward in response to the eroded topography.  相似文献

为提高混凝土剪力墙受弯性能计算的准确度,开展强震下混凝土剪力墙受弯性能试验研究。选取1个混凝土剪力墙对比试件和3个测试试件作为研究对象,对试件施加垂直荷载和水平荷载,模拟强烈地震作用力。试验前期准备工作完成后,建立分离式有限元模型,通过计算混凝土在受压和受拉状态下的损伤弹塑性刚度,完成对有限元模型中混凝土塑性损伤分析,在此基础上,计算混凝土剪力墙受弯承载力。利用有限元模型对3个测试试件进行模拟试验,结果表明,强烈地震后3个试件的荷载-位移曲线均与实际位移值接近,且混凝土剪力墙受弯承载力试验结果与实际值的误差在2%以内,表明试验研究方法具有一定的可行性,数值模拟结果较为准确。  相似文献

The presence of Cenozoic deposits along the Norwegian Atlantic margin required extensive erosion of the Scandinavian Mountains in a generally cooling climate from the Oligocene to the present. The volume of the deposits implies that the transfer of mass from the inland area to the offshore shelf induced isostatic displacements on a kilometer scale. However, except for glacial excavation of the deep fjords, little is known about the distribution of Cenozoic inland erosion. A long-lasting paradigm incorporates remnants of peneplains at high elevation and assumes very little Cenozoic erosion on these surfaces through time. This scenario has recently been challenged by quantitative geomorphological studies indicating that the matrix of Cenozoic sediments deposited offshore must have been sourced from these surfaces. An alternative explanation for the present-day high-elevation low-relief surfaces is therefore that they evolved throughout the Cenozoic because of glacial and periglacial erosion processes that are known to vary strongly with altitude. Here we explore the implications of the latter scenario by reconstructing a pre-Cenozoic fluvial landscape without elevated low-relief surfaces. We use the present-day offshore sediment volumes for constraining the total Cenozoic erosion, and we find that a likely pre-Cenozoic fluvial landscape is only in few places more than 1 km higher than today. The rock mass of the offshore sediments is generally used for filling the fjords created during the Quaternary glaciations and for restoring concave river profiles from sea level to the peaks. Our reconstruction is based on a fluvial landscape algorithm and considers the isostatic response to the transfer of rock mass – from the basins onto the onshore area. A comparison between the reconstructed and the present-day topography demonstrates that offshore tilting of pre-Cenozoic strata can be partly explained by flexural isostatic compensation in response to the Cenozoic erosion and deposition. Locations of future thermochronometry studies for testing Scandinavian landscape evolution models are suggested based on temperature estimates of the present-day surface buried beneath the erosion products restored from the offshore basins.  相似文献

加卸载响应比(LURR)方法是通过固体潮加卸载过程中的某一物理参数的响应差异探查区域应力场演化。本文将这一方法应用于2019年6月17日四川长宁MS6.0地震,根据LURR时序演化探查震源区介质的应力状态变化,提取可能的震前异常信息。首先采用贝尼奥夫应变作为响应量计算LURR,通过固体潮在地震断层面的最优滑动方向上引起的库仑破坏应力变化来判断加载还是卸载,结果显示LURR值自2018年年初开始快速增加并在2018年年中达到峰值,此后异常持续至地震。在此基础上对该地区的大地形变和地下井水位资料进行了LURR分析,发现水富水平摆倾斜仪的东西和南北分量在LURR出现异常的同期发生明显偏转,而地震周边的地下井水位高值变化过程与长宁地震也有较好的对应关系。研究表明在长宁地震发生前,存在地震活动和地下水位的LURR异常,且异常时间与水富倾斜同步,暗示震源区介质存在明显的应力积累过程。  相似文献

A new smooth hysteretic model is proposed for ductile, flexural‐dominated reinforced concrete bridge columns. Four columns designed per modern seismic codes were tested using monotonically increasing and variable‐amplitude cyclic loading protocols and ground motion loading to develop the model. Based on the test results, hysteretic rules for damage accumulation and path dependence of reloading were constructed. For damage accumulation, unloading stiffness degradation is correlated with the maximum displacement and hysteretic energy dissipation, while reloading stiffness degradation is set equal to the unloading stiffness degradation. Pinching severity is related to the residual displacement in the direction opposite to the loading direction. Strength deterioration is correlated with the damage index and does not occur until the damage index reaches a threshold, after which the deterioration is proportional to the increase of the damage index. For path dependence of reloading, reloading paths are classified into primary paths and associate paths. The primary paths are those that start from a residual displacement that is equal to or larger than the previous maximum one. The associate paths are those that do not belong to primary paths and tend to be directed towards certain points. Reloading without load reversal is assumed to be linear. Comparison with the results of pseudo‐dynamic tests using three consecutive ground motions showed that the proposed model closely matched the test results. An unconventional scheme is used to estimate the flexural rigidity, or equivalently the elastic thickness of the lithosphere, given the topography and gravity data. The flexural rigidity is the parameter that governs the flexural response of the lithosphere in the frame of the thin plate flexure model. The scheme is an alternative to the widely used calculation of admittance of topography (sea-floor or continental topography) and gravity, bearing some advantages which are explained in the paper. The scheme involves the inversion of the gravity data in order to formulate a model of the crust-mantle interface (CMI) undulations. In a second step the flexure parameter is then evaluated from the relation between topography and CMI variations. Instead of calculating the admittance function using a spectral analysis, a set of point-load response functions are used in order to retrieve the optimal flexure parameter. This has two main advantages: instabilities of the numerical admittance evaluation at wavenumbers with low spectral energy in the topography are overcome and the analysis can be made over an area which is not necessarily rectangular, as required for the spectral analysis. The proposed method allows a higher space resolution of elastic thickness than any spectral method. For validation, the numerical strategy is applied to the situation of a realistic synthetic model, where all inputs and outputs are known a priori. Finally the spatial variations of the elastic thickness are studied in an area across the Eastern Alps.  相似文献

Chemical and age data led Turner, Jarrard and Forbes to conclude that the origin of the Pratt-Welker seamount chain in the Gulf of Alaska cannot be attributed to a single cause. They argued instead that some seamounts in the chain formed over a hotspot, away from a ridge, while others formed near a ridge. They also noted that the latter group of guyots were generally deeper than the former and they used this observation to predict the origin of the unsampled seamounts in the chain. A second geophysical test of the origin hypothesis is to examine the degree of isostatic compensation of the guyots; seamounts formed near a ridge should be in a state of local isostatic compensation, while seamounts formed away from a ridge should be regionally compensated. This test has been carried out using GEOS 3 and SEASAT altimeter data. The effective flexural rigidity of the lithosphere below all seamounts is found to be less than about 1020 Nm, such that the isostatic state is nearly local, rather than regional. This may be a consequence of all the seamounts having formed on an initially weak lithosphere, of stress relaxation subsequant to their formation away from the ridge, or both. If the seamounts from Giacomini to Durgin formed away from the ridge then these results point to an effective flexural rigidity at the time of loading of about 3 × 1021 Nm and to a stress-relaxation time of about 106 years. These values are for an ocean lithosphere that was about 20–22 my old when loaded. Corresponding values for 60 my old lithosphere in the southern Pacific were previously found to be about 3 × 1022 Nm and 5 × 106 years. This comparison suggests that both the initial elastic response and the rate of stress relaxation are functions of the age of the lithosphere. The subsidence of guyots is due to numerous factors including thermal contraction of the seafloor, sediment loading, the flexure of the lithosphere prior to its subduction along the Aleutian Trench and, in view of the above short stress relaxation time, stress relaxation. A principal uncertainty in evaluating the subsidence that has occurred subsequent to the seamount having been eroded to sealevel is the erosion time interval. The comparison of the predicted subsidence with observed depths points to an erosion time constant of the order of 5 my and which is a function of seamount size. The conclusions from the flexure and subsidence analysis as to where the various seamounts formed are in agreement with those of Turner et al. Giacomini, Quinn, Surveyor, Pratt and Durgin formed away from a ridge and are consistent with a fixed hotspot and uniform spreading rate model. The geophysical information for Denson, Davidson and Hodgkins is consistent with the hypothesis that these guyots formed near or on a ridge. The case for Welker seamount is ambiguous, and this guyot may have formed over a second hotspot, located at an intermediate distance between the first and the ridge. The geophysical evidence for Bowie seamount is also ambiguous. Possibly it has a similar source to Welker, suggesting that there may actually be three different origin mechanisms that led to the chain.  相似文献

定量研究地震滑坡物质河流卸载时间对理解地震与造山带地貌演化之间的关系有着十分重要的意义.本文以青藏高原东缘龙门山构造带内岷江流域为例,定量估算了2008年汶川大地震滑坡物质的河流卸载时间.研究结果表明,如果以位于龙门山构造带内的岷江河段现有搬运能力计算,并且岷江可以有效地搬运汶川地震滑坡物质,地震滑坡物质至少在3100 yr内被岷江卸载出龙门山.而龙门山构造带中段类似2008年汶川Ms8.0级大地震的复发周期约为3000 yr左右,暗示大地震所产生的滑坡物质量可以在大地震复发周期内基本上被侵蚀和剥蚀所平衡,并被卸载出龙门山构造带. 因此,我们推断:除了周期性大地震造成的地表抬升的累积外,龙门山地区地震及其它地表过程所产生的剥蚀物质通过河流快速卸载驱动了地壳均衡反弹和深部物质上涌,形成了青藏高原东缘的高陡地形梯度带. 相关的地球物理证据表明在青藏高原东缘可能存在由地表快速剥蚀(或侵蚀)所引发的地球深部地幔软流圈物质上涌.  相似文献

目前固井质量评价主要是利用套管中模式波的幅度或衰减变化判断套管与水泥间的胶结状况.在超声测量频段(70~500 kHz),现有声波测井仪器工作时在套管中激发的模式波类似薄板中的对称兰姆波(拉伸波)或反对称兰姆波(弯曲型兰姆波).本文将黏弹滑移界面理论应用到套管和水泥的耦合界面,探讨了套管中的准兰姆波(包括拉伸波和弯曲型兰姆波)与套管后物质的耦合方式,拉伸波与套后物质主要以剪切刚度耦合,即便是0.01 mm的微环也会使得拉伸波的衰减明显降低,接近套后是流体时的响应特征;而弯曲型兰姆波与套管后物质主要以法向刚度耦合,这使得在套后胶结轻质水泥时弯曲型兰姆波对微环不敏感,在套后耦合常规水泥时微环的存在又会使得弯曲型兰姆波的衰减明显增强,衰减的增加说明其与套后物质的声耦合更紧密,也表明微环与常规水泥的等效声阻抗适当降低,更有利于弯曲型兰姆波传播时与套后介质实现法向刚度的匹配.拉伸波和弯曲型兰姆波对同一胶结状况的不同响应特征也为固井质量综合评价时区分不同的水泥胶结状况提供了可能.  相似文献

Reinforced concrete columns with insufficient transverse reinforcement and non‐seismic reinforcement details are vulnerable to brittle shear failure and to loss of axial load carrying capacity in the event of a strong earthquake. In this paper, a procedure is presented after examining the application of two macro models for displacement‐based analysis of reinforced concrete columns subjected to lateral loads. In the proposed model, lateral load‐deformation response of the column is simulated by estimating flexural and shear deformation components separately while considering their interaction and then combining these together according to a set of rules depending upon column's yield, flexural and shear strengths. In addition, lateral deformation caused by reinforcement slip in beam–column joint regions and buckling of compression bars are taken into account and considered in the analysis. Denudation mechanisms differ fundamentally between limestone and silicate rock types, which are subject to very different rate thresholds and enhancers/inhibitors. Silicates are removed largely by erosion, the mechanical entrainment and transport of particles. This is a relatively high energy, and highly episodic, process which occurs only when a minimum threshold ?ow velocity is exceeded; it is inhibited by vegetation cover and favoured by strongly seasonal runoff. Limestone is removed largely by chemical dissolution at a rate directly proportional to runoff. Dissolution is a relatively low energy process that can occur at any ?ow velocity or in static water; in general it is enhanced by vegetation cover and non‐seasonality of runoff. These contrasting factors in the denudation of silicates versus limestone can produce strikingly uneven rates of surface lowering across a landscape, sometimes akin to the well known ‘tortoise and hare race’, where the slow and steady denudation of limestones may in the long term exceed the sometimes rapid, but often localized and episodic, erosion of silicates. Prolonged exposure of limestone to a humid temperate climate in a tectonically stable environment produces low‐relief corrosion plains in which limestone uplands are anomalous and, in most instances, due to recent unroo?ng from beneath a siliciclastic cover. In a highly seasonal or semi‐arid climate almost the exact inverse may develop, with ‘?ashy’ runoff and sparse vegetation favouring erosion rather than dissolution. Even under a constant humid climate progressive unroo?ng of a thick limestone unit within folded siliciclastics may lead to a topographic inversion over time, with the limestone outcrop always forming a topographic low ?anked by siliciclastic uplands. Valleys will be initiated on anticlinal crests, where the limestone is ?rst unroofed, but progressive lowering of the limestone causes these valleys to migrate to their ?nal position in the synclinal troughs. In humid climates isostatic compensation in response to slow, but continuous, denudation of extensive limestone outcrops may be a signi?cant factor in the development of relief on adjacent, more slowly eroding, silicate outcrops. The Load/Unload Response Ratio (LURR) method is proposed for prediction of the failure of brittle heterogeneous materials. Application of the method typically involves evaluating the external load on materials or structures, differentiating between loading and unloading periods, determining the failure response during both periods from data input, and calculating the ratio between the two response rates. According to the method, the LURR time series usually climbs to an anomalously high peak prior to the macro-fracture. To show the validity of the approach in engineering practice, we applied it to the loading and unloading experimental data associated with a two-floor concrete-brick structure. Results show that the LURR time series of the two floors consists of the damage evolution of the structure: they are at low level for most of the time, and reach the maxima prior to the final fracture. We then attempt to combine the LURR values with damage variable (D) to provide the health assessment of the structure. The relationship between LURR and D, defined as a function of Weibull stochastic distribution, is set up to provide more detailed underlying physical means to study damage evolution of the structure. The fact that the damage evolution of the structure correlates well with the variation of LURR time series may suggest that the LURR approach can be severed as a useful tool to provide the health assessment to big scale structures or ancient buildings.  相似文献
