A new analysis of the Johnstown meteorite, a hypersthene achondrite, gives the following results (weight percent): SiO2 53.48, TiO2 0.12, Al2O3 1.43, Cr2O3 0.83, FeO 15.63, MnO 0.54, MgO 25.87, CaO 1.40, Na2O 0.04, K2O 0.00, P2O5 0.00, H2O+ <0.1, H2O- 0.05, Ni <0.05, Co <0.01, FeS 1.18, sum 100.57. Published and unpublished data on minor and trace elements in the bulk meteorite and in the pyroxene are presented in tabular form.  相似文献

The Alta'ameem hypersthene chondrite is a light gray brecciated and metamorphosed meteorite composed mainly of olivine (27% Fa), orthopyroxene (24.5% Fs) and plagioclase (An10). Other minerals include troilite, kamacite, taenite, chromite, ilmenite, clinopyroxene, chalcopyrite, and apatite or merrillite. The mineralogical and chemical analyses suggest that the Alta'ameem meteorite belongs to the amphoterite group of chondrites. The chemical composition includes the following: Fe 3.39, Ni 1.13, Co 0.05, Cu 0.01, FeS 6.48, SiO2 39.48, TiO2 0.28, Al2O3 2.25, FeO 16.46, MnO 0.40, MgO 25.66, CaO 1.47, Na2O 1.05, K2O 0.15, P2O5 0.47, Cr2O3 0.45; total 99.18.  相似文献

The FeOOH phase in Apollo 16 rocks is akaganéite. Other polymorphs of FeOOH, i.e. geothite and lepidocrocite, may exist but have not been identified by X-ray diffraction. Experiments performed during this study using akaganéite, geothite, and lepidocrocite placed at 135°C and under a pumping vacuum of 10?2 torr, demonstrate that these forms of FeOOH are not stable on the surface of the Moon, where daytime temperatures are about 140°C and pressures are about 10?7 torr. The effect of the vacuum is to strip off the water, and the temperature speeds up this dehydration process. These data lend support to the contention of Taylor et al. (1973) that the FeOOH in lunar rocks formed by the oxyhydration of lawrencite, FeCl2, due to contamination by terrestrial water vapor.  相似文献

A meteorite which fell at Lahrauli, district Basti, U.P. (India) in 1955 has been examined for mineralogical, chemical and cosmogenic characteristics. It contains pigeonite Wo7.7Fs18 (with Cr2O3 = 1.2% and Al2O3 = 0.4%), olivine Fo79 (with CaO = 0.3% and Cr2O3 = 0.7%) and diamond. The basic similarities of this meteorite to Goalpara, Dyalpur, Havero and Novo Urei indicate that it is a ureilite. Cosmic ray tracks have been measured in the olivine and pyroxene grains. Track density of 2.3 × 106 per cm2 in olivines and VVH/VH ratio of 10?3 is similar to that observed in other meteorites.  相似文献

本文对中国正史记载的八世纪前的34次纪时日食观测作了分析,指出其中两次日食记载有重复,另一次纪日不确。对32次日食观测记录的14个食分和45个见食时刻作了考查,其中除一次食甚时刻误差较大(约1^h)外,余皆准确可靠。本文据此对地球自转速率的长期变化趋势作了探讨。  相似文献

Jurkevich方法通常用来发现光变曲线的周期 ,并且根据V2 m 极小值的大小来验证所发现的光变周期可靠性。但是 ,这种验证方法又带有一定的不确定性 ,最佳的方法是把所发现的周期与观测光变曲线拟合 ,得出每一个周期的振幅 ,以振幅大小来验证所发现的光变周期的可靠性。将此方法用于OJ2 87的历史光变曲线 ,得到其最主要的周期为 11.9年 ,与其它结果相符合。  相似文献

抽样选取了 2 7次上海天文台佘山站参与的天测与测地VLBI实验 ,分别进行了单次解算。通过分析解算参数随剩余钟行为和剩余大气效应分段拟合长度的变化 ,得到以下初步结论 :(1)选取不同分段拟合长度时 ,站坐标解算结果和时延残差加权均方根存在差异 ,最大分别至厘米级和数十皮秒 ,因而分段拟合长度不能随意选取。 (2 )分段拟合时段长度存在某一合理取值范围 ,它不宜过长 ,否则钟和大气的剩余效应短周期变化不能很好地模型化。为了保证待估参数解算时有足够的自由度 ,拟合时段不宜过短 ,否则将导致法方程近于或出现奇异 ,达不到较好控制噪声的效果。 (3)由于各次实验、同一次实验中的不同台站相应的钟和大气条件存在差异 ,有必要对每次实验以及每次实验中的各观测台站分别分析 ,寻找合适的分段拟合长度。这在实际操作中显然相当烦琐。 (4)一般而言 ,在剩余钟行为拟合长度缺省值 6 0min情况下 ,剩余大气效应分段拟合长度以介于 10min至 4 0min为宜 ;在剩余大气效应分段拟合长度缺省值 2 0min情况下 ,剩余钟行为分段拟合长度以介于 2 0min至 10 0min为宜  相似文献

Atlanta is the fifth known brecciated enstatite chondrite. It contains a centimeter-sized troilite-rich clast, similar to those that occur in Blithfield. All of these clasts probably formed in the solar nebula under high pS2/pO2 conditions in a gas of non-cosmic composition. The absence of ordinary or carbonaceous chondrite clasts in any of the enstatite chondrite breccias and absence of enstatite chondrite clasts or materials formed at high pS2/pO2 ratios in ordinary and carbonaceous chondrite breccias support the model that enstatite chondrites were formed at a location distant from those of the other chondritic groups.  相似文献

The Homewood meteorite is a slightly weathered find of 325 grams discovered in 1970 about 64 km southwest of Winnipeg, Manitoba. It consists of olivine (Fa25.4; 43.8 normative wt. percent), orthopyroxene (Fs23.3; 28.5 percent), kamacite and taenite (7.5 percent), troilite (5.6 percent), maskelynite (8.3 percent), chromite (1.0 percent), whitlockite (0.7 percent) and minor patchy Ca pyroxene. Bulk chemical analysis yielded Fetotal 21.60 wt. percent, Fe/SiO20.55, SiO2/MgO 1.53 and FeO/Fetotal 0.29. Barred olivine, radiating pyroxene and porphyritic chondrules, all with ill-defined outlines, occur in the meteorite. Most chemical and mineralogical features characterize the Homewood meteorite as an L6 (hypersthene) chondrite. The presence of maskelynite, the undulatory extinction, extensive fracturing and pervasive mosaicism of olivine, and the poor definition of chondrule outlines suggest that the Homewood meteorite has been shocked in the range of 300–350 kbar.  相似文献

In this article we treat the 'Extended Sitnikov Problem' where three bodies of equal masses stay always in the Sitnikov configuration. One of the bodies is confined to a motion perpendicular to the instantaneous plane of motion of the two other bodies (called the primaries), which are always equally far away from the barycenter of the system (and from the third body). In contrary to the Sitnikov Problem with one mass less body the primaries are not moving on Keplerian orbits. After a qualitative analysis of possible motions in the 'Extended Sitnikov Problem' we explore the structure of phase space with the aid of properly chosen surfaces of section. It turns out that for very small energies H the motion is possible only in small region of phase space and only thin layers of chaos appear in this region of mostly regular motion. We have chosen the plane ( ) as surface of section, where r is the distance between the primaries; we plot the respective points when the three bodies are 'aligned'. The fixed point which corresponds to the 1 : 2 resonant orbit between the primaries' period and the period of motion of the third mass is in the middle of the region of motion. For low energies this fixed point is stable, then for an increased value of the energy splits into an unstable and two stable fixed points. The unstable fixed point splits again for larger energies into a stable and two unstable ones. For energies close toH = 0 the stable center splits one more time into an unstable and two stable ones. With increasing energy more and more of the phase space is filled with chaotic orbits with very long intermediate time intervals in between two crossings of the surface of section. Individual and splinter specimens of the iron meteorite shower of Sikhote-Alin and rock samples from impact craters have been studied magnetically. The results indicate that: 1) Histograms for the distribution of natural remanent magnetization Jn of individual and splinter specimens are characterized by a high correlation coefficient (0.82 ± 0.06). For the splinter specimens, a trend to an increase in number of specimens with anomalously high Jn values is observed; 2) the Earth's magnetic field did not greatly affect the magnetic properties of this iron meteorite; and 3) for rock samples taken from different craters, there was found to be a relation between the natural remanent magnetization and the energy conditions of the crater formation.  相似文献

The Seoni (India) chondrite is an H6 group ordinary chondrite that contains olivine (Fa, 19.7 mole%), orthopyroxene (Fs, 15.9 mole%), clinopyroxene, plagioclase (An, 10.3; Or, 5.6 mole%), together with chromite, troilite, kamacite, taenite, chlorapatite, and whitlockite. Recrystallization has been quite extensive as indicated by the presence of few remnant chondrules, low abundance of clinopyroxene and relatively high abundance of well formed plagioclase. Treatment of Fe2+ and Mg partitioning between clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene and between olivine and chromite indicates equilibration temperatures of between 875–920 °C.  相似文献

The Gujargaon meteorite was observed to fall on a cotton field at Gujargaon in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, India, on the afternoon of the 4th of September, 1982. It is an oriented stone with a saucer-shaped front and regmaglypted rear with surfaces of more than one generation, and is entirely covered by fusion crust. Gujargaon is an H5 chondrite with rare chondrules integrated with the matrix. Intense fracturing with fractures filled by glassy veins, and undulose extinction and deformation-twin lamellae in troilite bear evidences of shock. Compared to average H-group chondrites Gujargaon appears to have higher contents of SiO2and normative pyroxene.  相似文献

Knudsen cell-quadrupole mass spectrometry has been used to quantitatively determine the composition of the vapor phase produced by heating samples of the Holbrook chondrite to 1300 °C. Maximum observed vapor pressures (atm) of metals are 10?5.3 ± 0.3 Na, 10?5.8 ± 0.3 K, 10?5.3 ± 0.3 Fe, and 10?6.6 ± 0.3 Ni at 1200 °C. S2 (with minor SO2), H2O, and CO2 were also observed in the high-temperature gas phase. Release of intrinsically derived volatiles produced abundant vesicles in the heated sample residues. Pieces of high-silica, natural glass (Libyan Desert Glass), found on the desert surface of western Egypt, have been treated as an enigma for 50 years although it is virtually certain they are similar to tektites in being impact-derived products. New major element analyses of four Libyan Desert Glass specimens agree extremely well with the only other recent analysis and demonstrate that the original bulk analyses reported by Spencer (1939) are in error. The five modern analyses define a very tight chemical range for SiO2 (97.38–98.25 wt %), Al2O3 (1.16–2.26 wt %), total Fe (0.15–0.60 wt % as Fe2O3) and TiO2 (0.13–0.19 wt %). Measurable MgO (0.04–0.20 wt %) was found in one specimen. No other elements are present in greater than trace amounts. Microprobe analyses show that Al, Fe and Ti are all positively correlated with one another and are almost ubiquitously distributed throughout the glass. They must also have been so distributed in the LDG precursor material as mechanical mixing and elemental diffusion in the short-lived melt were limited. In contrast, Mg is sharply restricted in occurrence and correlates only with Fe, strongly suggesting a precursor Mg-Fe oxide or silicate mineral present as rare, discrete grains. Aside from rare accessory minerals, the parent material was a sand or sandstone composed of quartz grains coated with a mixture of kaolinite, hematite and anatase. This conclusion is based solely on the elemental distribution in the glass but is buttressed by the occurrence of both sand and sandstone, in southwestern Egypt, with the requisite mineralogy. However, mineralogic identity need not, in general, translate to a chemical match and it is entirely possible that the specific sand or sandstone facies involved in the glass formation no longer exists after 28 million years. Consequently, it may well be that evidence other than chemical comparisons will be needed to identify the presently unknown parent crater.  相似文献
