It is seen that the apparent chargeability (Ma)L anomaly over a 2D graphite body splits into two distinct (Vs)L anomalies which closely follow the apparent resistivity profile. This suggests that the electric field amplitude is distorted due to a superficial inhomogeneity creating a (Vs)L anomaly, which bears no relation to the polarized body. The target depth obtained by continuation of such a profile is therefore, not acceptable.  相似文献

Regional seismic characteristics in northeastern and southwestern China are quite different. Earthquakes are more frequent in SW China than in NE China and intensity attenuates faster in SW China than in NE China. Through regression analyses of data from these two regions we have found the attenuation of peak horizontal accelerations also to be noticeably different. For northeastern China the regression is log10(a) = ?0.474 + 0.613M ? 0.873 log10 (R) ?0.00206R and for southwestern China, the regression is log10 (a) = 0.437 + 0.454M ? 0.739 log10 (R) ?0.00279R where a is acceleration in cm/sec2, M is the Chinese surface wave magnitude (Institute of Geophysics, State Seismological Bureau), and R is the distance in kilometres. The formula for northeastern China has distance coefficients similar to those for Central United States as derived by Nuttli and Herrmann14.  相似文献

In order to locate relatively optimum sites for drilling exploratory holes for fresh water, an electrical resistivity survey was conducted along the new Mahukona-Kawaihae Road on the west flank of the Kohala Mountain. Two resistivity soundings made at the same stations, using the Schlumberger electrode configuration, determined an a spacing of 275 feet for horizontal profiling with the Wenner array. The correlation coefficient of the elevation to profile data was 0.41. A procedure for removing elevation effect from observed apparent resistivity was developed. Based on the reduced resistivity profile, four relatively optimum sites for additional exploration, such as by drilling, are specified. There is no specific interpretation of the data that can definitely indicate the occurrence of large underground reservoirs of fresh water anywhere along the profile. This is because the interpretation of horizontal profiling data is essentially relative and not absolute.  相似文献

Assuming the minimum detectable anomaly to be 10%, depths of detection of a 2D vertical resistive sheet of thickness t are found to be 4.0t, 3.0t, 4.0t and 4.0t with Wenner, two-electrode, three-electrode and dipole-dipole (β-Wenner) arrays, respectively, when the array spread is in-line. On the other hand, the depths of detection obtained with a broadside spread of the arrays right over the sheet are much less and are correspondingly 2.5t, 2.0t, 2.5t and 2.5t. An increase in the depth extent W of the sheet from 10t to 20t does not increase its depth of detection with the arrays. The depths of detection of an infinitely resistive horizontal cylinder of radius R are respectively 1.5R, 1.8R, 2.0R and 2.0R with the above-listed arrays when the array spread is in-line. With broadside spread of any of the arrays, the depth of detection is seen to be 2.5R. In the case of a spherical target of radius R, the detection depths of any of the arrays are found to be small and to vary between 0.8R and 1.1R. Comparatively, the detection depths of resistive targets are much lower than those of conductive targets of the same size and shape, with any electrode array. Among all the arrays studied, the two-electrode array performs worst in the detection of resistive targets while it performs best in detecting conducting targets of limited lateral extent. In the case of a spherical target, either resistive or conductive, there is no distinct change in its detection depth with array.  相似文献

In a previous paper it has been shown that we can relate the transient IP electric field Ep , existing in a rock after a step wave of polarizing current, with the steady-state current density Jss during the current step wave as follows: Ep =ρ' Jss . This relation may be interpreted as a generalized Ohm's law, valid in linear cases, in which ρ’(fictitious resistivity) is defined as the product of the true resistivity ρ with the chargeability m. Supposing E p=— grad Up and applying the divergence condition div Jss = o, one can, for a layered earth, obtain a general expression for the depolarization potential Up as a solution of Laplace's equation ?2Up= o. Since the mathematical procedure for the solution of this last equation is identical to that used in resistivity problems, we propose now the introduction of an apparent fictitious resistivity ρ'a (defined as the product of the apparent resistivity ρa with the apparent chargeability ma) as a new parameter for the interpretations of IP soundings carried out over layered structures with a common electrode array. The most general expression of ρ'a as a function of the electrode distance turns out to be mathematically identical to the general expression of ρ'a. Therefore it is possible to interpret a ρ'a field curve using the same standard graphs for resistivity prospecting with the usual method of complete curve matching. In this manner a great deal of work is saved since there is no need to construct proper ma graphs for the interpretation of IP soundings, as it has been done up to now. A complex transfer function c (or generalized skin depth) can be derived from data for the secondary magnetic field measured by a dipole system with small coil spacing at height h above the ground. This function has a useful property: For a uniform or layered ground, the real part of c yields the‘ centroid depth’z* of the in-phase current system as a function of frequency. This parameter can be combined with the apparent resistivity ρa derived by conventional methods. The function ρa(z*), if known over a broad frequency range, yields a smoothed approximation of the true distribution ρ(z) without an initial model. The relations between ρa(z*) and ρ(z) are studied for a number of multilayer models. An example of the application of the ρa*) algorithm to data from a groundwater survey is given.  相似文献

Magnetotelluric response is studied for an inhomogeneous medium having conductivity varying linearly with depth as σ(z) =σ1z. For a medium having conductivity increasing linearly with depth, the phase of the impedance approaches 60° at long periods and the apparent resistivity becomes log (ρa) = 2 log (1.36/α1/3) — 1/3 log (T'). The asymptote of log (ρa, T'→∞) when plotted against log (T') has a constant gradient —1/3 and has an intercept on the log (T') axis, which equals 6 log (1.36/α1/3). When a homogeneous layer with a moderate thickness overlies an inhomogeneous half-space, this layer does not affect the asymptote, but it affects the cut-off period and pushes this toward the long period direction. For a medium having conductivity decreasing linearly with depth, the impedance is equivalent to that of a Cagniard two-layer model; the intercept period related to the thickness is T'01(h2/2)2. Homogeneous multilayer approximations to an inhomogeneous layer are also investigated, and it is shown that the fit to the model variation depends on the number of layers and the layer parameters chosen.  相似文献

The possibility-probability risk calculated using the interior-outer set model is referred to as fuzzy risk. A fuzzy expected value of the possibility-probability distribution is a set with E α(x) and [`(E)]a\bar E_\alpha (x) as its boundaries. The fuzzy expected values E α(x) and [`(E)]a\bar E_\alpha (x) of a possibility-probability distribution represent the fuzzy risk values being calculated. Under such an α level, three risk values can be calculated: conservative risk value, venture risk value and maximum probability risk value. As α adopts all values throughout the set [0, 1], it is possible to obtain a series of risk values. Therefore, the fuzzy risk can be a multi-valued risk or set-valued risk. Calculation of the fuzzy expected value of Yiwu city’s water resource risk has been performed based on the interior-outer set model. We can get a conservative risk value (R C ) of 800 mm for Yiwu city’s water resource risk, a venture risk value (R V ) of 1020 mm, and a maximum probability risk value (R M ) of 988 mm for the α = 0.1 level cut set.  相似文献

In this study, the removal of nitrate ions from aqueous solutions with liquid membrane technique has been investigated for different organic solvent types in which solubilized tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (TDTMABr) as carrier. n-butyl alcohol, chloroform, and mixture of chloroform + n-hexane (n-hexane 85% + chloroform 15%) were used as organic solvent. Kinetic parameters (k 1d, k 2m, k 2a, t max, R mmax, J mmax, J amax) were calculated from obtained data. time R a values of mixture, butyl alcohol, and chloroform are 0.81, 0.78, and 0.55, respectively. Similarly R d, R m, and t max values of the mixture equal to 0.14, 0.04, and 87.92 min, respectively. This behavior of the system shows the organic solvent type is an effective parameter on separation yield. It can be concluded that the mixture is the most effective organic solvent type among the investigated ones, because liquid membrane systems should be operated within the range of having the R m, R d, and t max values are minimum while R a values are maximum.  相似文献

Pan evaporation (Ep) is an important indicator of water and energy and the decline of Ep has been reported in many regions over the last decades. The climate and Ep are dependent on each other. In this study, the temporal trends of Ep and main Ep drivers, namely mean air temperature (Ta), wind speed (u), global solar radiation (Rs), net long‐wave radiation(Rnl) and vapour pressure deficit (D) from 1970 to 2012, were calculated on the basis of 26 meteorological stations on the Tibetan Plateau. The arithmetic average of Ep from 26 stations decreased with the rate of ?11.91 mm a?2; the trends of Rs, Rnl, Ta, u and D were ?1.434 w m?2 decade?1, 0.2511 w m?2 decade?1, 0.3590°C decade?1, ?0.2376 m s?1 decade?1 and 9.523 Pa decade?1, respectively. The diffuse irradiance is an essential parameter to model Ep and quantify the contribution of climatic factors to changing Ep. 60 724 observations of Rs and diffuse solar irradiance (Rd) from seven of the 26 stations were used to develop the correlation between the diffuse fraction (Rd/Rs), and the clearness index (Rs/Ro). On the basis of the estimation of the diffuse component of Rs and climatic data, we modified the PenPan model to estimate Chinese micro‐pan evaporation (Ep) and assess the attribution of Ep dynamics using partial derivatives. The results showed that there was a good agreement between the observed and calculated daily Ep values. The observed decrease in Ep was mostly due to declining wind speed (?13.7 mm a?2) with some contributions from decreasing solar irradiance (?3.1 mm a?2); and the increase of temperature had a large positive effect (4.55 mm a?2) in total whilst the increase of Rnl had insignificant effect (0.35 mm a?2) on Ep rates. Abstract

Numerical simulations of thermal convection in a rapidly rotating spherical fluid shell heated from below and within have been carried out with a nonlinear, three-dimensional, time-dependent pseudospectral code. The investigated phenomena include the sequence of transitions to chaos and the differential mean zonal rotation. At the fixed Taylor number T a =106 and Prandtl number Pr=1 and with increasing Rayleigh number R, convection undergoes a series of bifurcations from onset of steadily propagating motions SP at R=R c = 13050, to a periodic state P, and thence to a quasi-periodic state QP and a non-periodic or chaotic state NP. Examples of SP, P, QP, and NP solutions are obtained at R = 1.3R c , R = 1.7 R c , R = 2R c , and R = 5 R c , respectively. In the SP state, convection rolls propagate at a constant longitudinal phase velocity that is slower than that obtained from the linear calculation at the onset of instability. The P state, characterized by a single frequency and its harmonics, has a two-layer cellular structure in radius. Convection rolls near the upper and lower surfaces of the spherical shell both propagate in a prograde sense with respect to the rotation of the reference frame. The outer convection rolls propagate faster than those near the inner shell. The physical mechanism responsible for the time-periodic oscillations is the differential shear of the convection cells due to the mean zonal flow. Meridional transport of zonal momentum by the convection cells in turn supports the mean zonal differential rotation. In the QP state, the longitudinal wave number m of the convection pattern oscillates among m = 3,4,5, and 6; the convection pattern near the outer shell has larger m than that near the inner shell. Radial motions are very weak in the polar regions. The convection pattern also shifts in m for the NP state at R = 5R c , whose power spectrum is characterized by broadened peaks and broadband background noise. The convection pattern near the outer shell propagates prograde, while the pattern near the inner shell propagates retrograde with respect to the basic rotation. Convection cells exist in polar regions. There is a large variation in the vigor of individual convection cells. An example of a more vigorously convecting chaotic state is obtained at R = 50R c . At this Rayleigh number some of the convection rolls have axes perpendicular to the axis of the basic rotation, indicating a partial relaxation of the rotational constraint. There are strong convective motions in the polar regions. The longitudinally averaged mean zonal flow has an equatorial superrotation and a high latitude subrotation for all cases except R = 50R c , at this highest Rayleigh number, the mean zonal flow pattern is completely reversed, opposite to the solar differential rotation pattern.  相似文献

Mathematical relationships have been developed for reaeration rate coefficient (Ka) by various researchers. These relationships have a number of variables such as depth, velocity, width, slope, Froud number, molecular diffusion coefficient, kinematic viscosity and the gas‐transfer Reynolds number. From these variables, 29 relations have been developed and divided into four groups. To evaluate their predictive capability for highly variable flow rivers receiving high pollution loads form large cities, these relationships have been used to model dissolved oxygen (DO) in the River Ravi. Such rivers are either saturated with DO during high flows or anaerobic during critical low‐flow conditions. The evaluation is based on the agreement between model DO values calculated using Ka obtained from the available equations and the measured DO concentrations in the river samples in terms of sum of square of residuals (SSR) and coefficient of determination (R2). It has been found that in general, the group of equations containing depth and velocity as the only two variables affecting Ka performed better than the equations in other groups as reflected by lower SSR and higher R2 values. The study results also reveal that the turbulence‐based reaeration rate coefficient equation containing additional variables also resulted in close agreement between DO model results and the measured values. The study results identify the most important parameters affecting the reaeration rate coefficient and the suitability of various Ka relationships as well for rivers with highly variable flows. Accurately estimated reference evapotranspiration (ET0) is essential to regional water management. The FAO recommends coupling the Penman–Monteith (P-M) model with the Ångström–Prescott (A-P) formula as the standard method for ET0 estimation with missing Rs measurements. However, its application is usually restricted by the two fundamental coefficients (a and b) of the A-P formula. This paper proposes a new method for estimating ET0 with missing Rs by combining machine learning with physical-based P-M models (PM-ET0). The benchmark values of the A-P coefficients were first determined at the daily, monthly, and yearly scales, and further evaluated in Rs and ET0 estimates at 80 national Rs measuring stations. Then, three empirical models and four machine-learning methods were evaluated in estimating the A-P coefficients. Machine learning methods were also used to estimate ET0 (ML-ET0) to compare with the PM-ET0. Finally, the optimal estimation method was used to estimate the A-P coefficients for the 839 regular weather stations for ET0 estimation without Rs measurement for China. The results demonstrated a descending trend for coefficient a from northwest to southeast China, with larger values in cold seasons. However, coefficient b showed the opposite distribution as the coefficient a. The FAO has recommended a larger a but a smaller b for southeast China, which produced the region's largest Rs and ET0 estimation errors. Additionally, the A-P coefficients calibrated at the daily scale obtained the best estimation accuracy for both Rs and ET0, and slightly outperformed the monthly and yearly coefficients without significant difference in most cases. The machine learning methods outperformed the empirical methods for estimating the A-P coefficients, especially for the sites with extreme values. Further, ML-ET0 outperformed the PM-ET0 with yearly A-P coefficients but underperformed those with daily and monthly ones. This study indicates an exciting potential for combining machine learning with physical models for estimating ET0. However, we found that using the A-P coefficients with finer time scales is unnecessary to deal with the missing Rs measurements.  相似文献

Evapotranspiration is an important component of the water and energy balance. It is dependent on climate. Precipitation, solar radiation, temperature, humidity, and wind all contribute to the rate of evapotranspiration. In this study, the temporal trends of reference evapotranspiration (ETref) and four main ETref drivers, namely, mean air temperature (Ta), wind speed (u2), net radiation (Rn) and actual vapour pressure (ea) from 1970 to 2009, were calculated based on 75 meteorological stations on the Tibetan Plateau. The results showed that the ETref on the Tibetan Plateau decreased on average by 0.6909 mm a‐1a‐1 from 1970 to 2009. Ta and ea showed an increasing trend, whereas u2 and Rn exhibited a decreasing trend. To explore the underlying causes of the ETref variation, an attribution analysis was performed to quantify the contribution of Ta, u2, Rn and ea, which showed that the changes in u2, Rn and ea produced the negative effect, whereas Ta produced the positive effect on ETref rates. The changes in u2 were found to produce the largest decrease (?0.7 mm) in ETref, followed by ea (?0.4 mm) and Rn (?0.1 mm). Although the significant increase in Ta had a large positive effect (0.51 mm) on ETref rates, changes in the other three variables each reduced ETref rates, resulting in an overall negative trend in ETref. This paper presents some results on the following subjects obtained from in-situ forced vibration tests and earthquake observations. (1) The characteristics of the radiation damping of soil-foundation interaction systems vs. non-dimensional frequency a0 (=ωr/Vs) were experimentally estimated by the equivalent damping ratios hH ( = KH/2KH) and hR ( = KR/2KR), which were defined by complex stiffnesses 1KH (= KH + iKH) and 1KR (= KR + iKR) of soil. The results for hH and hR of base rock were compared with those of soft soil. (2) A comparative study of experimental and theoretical results was made. The theoretical results were obtained from elastic half-space theory. (3) A semi-empirical equation to estimate the equivalent S-wave velocity for the elastic half-space model is proposed here, considering the effects of layered media. (4) Various comparisons of the results of 1 KH, 1 KR, hH and hR of forced vibration tests and earthquake observations were made.  相似文献

Following a brief overview of the history and the development of the Surface Wave Method—with a focus on techniques for processing and inverting field data—a Simplified Inversion Method (SIM) is described, which constitutes an improvement of the Satoh et al. (1991) [1] method. The SIM is a direct inversion method of surface wave dispersion data, making use of a penetration depth coefficient, aR, whose value is a function of Poisson's ratio and the overall shape of the dispersion curve. In the present study the coefficient aR has been evaluated using data from (a) an extensive database compiled from the technical literature and containing results of inverted surface wave measurements and nearby cross-hole/down-hole measurements, (b) results of side by side surface wave and cross-hole measurements, performed at five sites in the course of this study, (c) finite element analyses simulating the performance of surface wave measurements and thus providing “virtual” data, and (d) applying a current advanced inversion code, available on the Web. Based on all the above data, optimum values of aR (and of the corresponding uncertainty of the derived Vso vs. depth profile) have been estimated. These values were found to be independent of depth from ground surface. The results of all analyses and comparisons indicate that for the majority of realistic soil profiles (including cases of normal and inverse dispersion conditions) the proposed SIM provides very reliable Vso vs. depth profiles when a value of aR=0.63–0.67 is used in the inversion process. It is concluded that the SIM can be used with confidence as a direct inversion method of surface wave dispersion data.  相似文献

借助微氧电极测试技术对太湖贡湖湾试验区疏浚后的新生界面溶解氧动态进行一年的跟踪调研,分析溶解氧在新生微米级界面的分布特征、扩散通量以及界面附近有机质矿化速率.结果表明疏浚后半年内,溶解氧在表层沉积物的侵蚀深度增大,氧化层明显加厚.氧气在新生界面表层沉积物中呈指数下降,但衰减相对较缓.在连续一年的跟踪调查中发现,仅秋季新生界面附近溶解氧浓度明显高于对照,而在其他月份无差异.污染底泥疏浚后一个月内氧扩散通量及有机碳矿化速率下降最为明显,仅为疏浚前的13%,其他月份沉积物-水界面氧的扩散通量、氧气的消耗速率、有机碳的降解速率均有不同程度下降,疏浚后新生界面氧气交换速率下降以及由此导致的有机碳矿化过程变缓可能深刻影响界面生源要素的迁移过程.  相似文献

Based on data of earthquake sequences with MS≥5.0 in Chinese mainland from 1970 to 2004,for different se-quence types and different rupture modes of the main shock,the relationship between aftershock distribution size Rand the magnitude of the main shock M0 has been studied statistically.Considering the rupture mode of the mainshock,we give the quantitative statistical relationships between R and M0 under 95%confidence level for differentsequence types.Qualitatively,lgR,the logarithm of the aftershock distribution size,is positively correlative to theM0,but the data distribution is dispersed.Viewing from different sequence types,the correlation between R and M0is very weak for isolated earthquake type(IET)sequence,R distributes in the range from 5 to 60 km;For main-shock-aftershock type(MAT),lgR is positively correlative to M0;For multiple main shock type(MMT),the core-lation between lgR and M0 is not very obvious when M0≤6.2 and R distributes in the range from 5 to 70 km,whileit shows a linear correlation when M0≥6.3.The statistical results also show that the occupational ratios of differentsequence types for strike-slip and oblique slip are almost the same.But for dip-slip(mostly are thrust mechanisms),the ratio of MAT is higher than that of IET and MMT.Comparing with previous results,it indicates that,when M0is large enough,R is mainly determined by M0 and there is almost no relationship with the rupture mode of themain shock.  相似文献
