The Tianqiao Pb–Zn deposit in the western Yangtze Block, southwest China, is part of the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou (SYG) Pb–Zn metallogenic province. Ore bodies are hosted in Devonian and Carboniferous carbonate rocks, structurally controlled by a thrust fault and anticline, and carried about 0.38 million tons Pb and Zn metals grading > 15% Pb + Zn. Both massive and disseminated Pb–Zn ores occur either as veinlets or disseminations in dolomitic rocks. They are composed of ore minerals, pyrite, sphalerite and galena, and gangue minerals, calcite and dolomite. δ34S values of sulfide minerals range from + 8.4 to + 14.4‰ and display a decreasing trend from pyrite, sphalerite to galena (δ34Spyrite > δ34Ssphalerite > δ34Sgalena). We interpret that reduced sulfur derived from sedimentary sulfate (gypsum and barite) of the host Devonian to Carboniferous carbonate rocks by thermal–chemical sulfate reduction (TSR). δ13CPDB and δ18OSMOW values of hydrothermal calcite range from –5.3 to –3.4‰ and + 14.9 to + 19.6‰, respectively, and fall in the field between mantle and marine carbonate rocks. They display a negative correlation, suggesting that CO2 in the hydrothermal fluid was a mixture origin of mantle, marine carbonate rocks and sedimentary organic matter. Sulfide minerals have homogeneous and low radiogenic Pb isotope compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.378 to 18.601, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.519 to 15.811 and 208Pb/204Pb = 38.666 to 39.571) that are plotted in the upper crust Pb evolution curve and overlap with that of Devonian to Carboniferous carbonate rocks and Proterozoic basement rocks in the SYG province. Pb isotope compositions suggest derivation of Pb metal from mixed sources. Sulfide minerals have 87Sr/86Sr ratios ranging from 0.7125 to 0.7167, higher than Sinian to Permian sedimentary rocks and Permian Emeishan flood basalts, but lower than basement rocks. Again, Sr isotope compositions are supportive of a mixture origin of Sr. They have an Rb–Sr isotopic age of 191.9 ± 6.9Ma, possibly reflecting the timing of Pb–Zn mineralization. C–O–S–Pb–Sr isotope compositions of the Tianqiao Pb–Zn deposit indicate a mixed origin of ore-forming fluids, which have Pb–Sr isotope homogenized before the mineralization. The Permian flood basalts acted as an impermeable layer for the Pb–Zn mineralization hosted in the Devonian–Carboniferous carbonate rocks.  相似文献

Carbon (δ13CPDB) and oxygen (δ18OSMOW) isotopic compositions of auriferous quartz-carbonate veins (QCVs) of gold deposits from Sangli, Kabuliyatkatti, Nagavi, Nabapur and Mysore mining areas developed on the Central Lode system of the Gadag Gold Field (GGF) in the Neoarchaean Gadag schist belt of the Dharwar Craton, southern India have been examined for the first time to understand the origin of the mineralising fluids. In majority of the samples (46 out of 49), δ13Cpdb of carbonates of the QCVs fall in the range from − 2.2‰ to − 9.7‰ and the δ18O values range from 12.0‰ to 30.5‰ SMOW. The calculated fluid δ13C C compositions for these deposits range from − 2.1‰ to − 9.6‰ and δ18OH2O from 6.8‰ to 25.9‰, respectively. Carbonate δ13C and fluid δ13C C compositions of the carbonates of the QCVs of the GGF are not only distinct from the carbon isotope range of marine carbonates or meta-sedimentary carbonates of the Chitradurga schist belt, but are consistent with C-isotope values of magmatic (− 5 ± 3‰, Burrows et al., 1986) and/or mantle (− 6 ± 2‰, Ohmoto, 1986) carbonates. As dissolution/decarbonation reactions during metamorphism of pre-existing carbonate/carbonated rocks produce CO2 with δ13C values similar to or more enriched than parent rock, the carbonate or fluid δ13C ratios of the QCVs (which fall in the compositional range of mantle/magmatic derived CO2 or carbonates) obtained in this work cannot be the result of metamorphism. The present study corroborates our previous reports from Ajjanahalli and G.R. Halli gold deposits (Sarangi et al., 2012) occurring in the vicinity of the southern extension of the same crustal scale shear zone on which all the GGF deposits are located. The age of gold mineralisation in this area has been reported to be 2522 ± 6 Ma by Sarma et al., 2011. Chardon et al. (2011) have proposed large-scale remobilization of the older gneissic basement, as well as, emplacement of juvenile granites between 2559 Ma and 2507 Ma, close to the crustal scale shear zone along the eastern margin of the Chitradurga schist belt. Based on these observations and our isotope studies, it is proposed that gold mineralising fluids were derived from mantle/juvenile magmatic melts and were channelled through crustal scale shear zones to give rise to the gold deposits in the GGF.  相似文献

The Shanshulin Pb–Zn deposit occurs in Upper Carboniferous Huanglong Formation dolomitic limestone and dolostone, and is located in the western Yangtze Block, about 270 km west of Guiyang city in southwest China. Ore bodies occur along high angle thrust faults affiliated to the Weishui regional fault zone and within the northwestern part of the Guanyinshan anticline. Sulfide ores are composed of sphalerite, pyrite, and galena that are accompanied by calcite and subordinate dolomite. Twenty-two ore bodies have been found in the Shanshulin deposit area, with a combined 2.7 million tonnes of sulfide ores grading 0.54 to 8.94 wt.% Pb and 1.09 to 26.64 wt.% Zn. Calcite samples have δ13CPDB and δ18OSMOW values ranging from − 3.1 to + 2.5‰ and + 18.8 to + 26.5‰, respectively. These values are higher than mantle and sedimentary organic matter, but are similar to marine carbonate rocks in a δ13CPDB vs. δ18OSMOW diagram, suggesting that carbon in the hydrothermal fluid was most likely derived from the carbonate country rocks. The δ34SCDT values of sphalerite and galena samples range from + 18.9 to + 20.3‰ and + 15.6 to + 17.1‰, respectively. These values suggest that evaporites are the most probable source of sulfur. The δ34SCDT values of symbiotic sphalerite–galena mineral pairs indicate that deposition of sulfides took place under chemical equilibrium conditions. Calculated temperatures of S isotope thermodynamic equilibrium fractionation based on sphalerite–galena mineral pairs range from 135 to 292 °C, consistent with previous fluid inclusion studies. Temperatures above 100 °C preclude derivation of sulfur through bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR) and suggest that reduced sulfur in the hydrothermal fluid was most likely supplied through thermo-chemical sulfate reduction (TSR). Twelve sphalerite samples have δ66Zn values ranging from 0.00 to + 0.55‰ (mean + 0.25‰) relative to the JMC 3-0749L zinc isotope standard. Stages I to III sphalerite samples have δ66Zn values ranging from 0.00 to + 0.07‰, + 0.12 to + 0.23‰, and + 0.29 to + 0.55‰, respectively, showing the relatively heavier Zn isotopic compositions in later versus earlier sphalerite. The variations of Zn isotope values are likely due to kinetic Raleigh fractional crystallization. The 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb ratios of the sulfide samples fall in the range of 18.362 to 18.573, 15.505 to 15.769 and 38.302 to 39.223, respectively. The Pb isotopic ratios of the studied deposit plot in the field that covers the upper crust, orogenic belt and mantle Pb evolution curves and overlaps with the age-corrected Proterozoic folded basement rocks, Devonian to Lower Permian sedimentary rocks and Middle Permian Emeishan flood basalts in a 207Pb/204Pb vs. 206Pb/204Pb diagram. This observation points to the derivation of Pb metal from mixed sources. Sphalerite samples have 87Sr/86Sr200 Ma ratios ranging from 0.7107 to 0.7115 similar to the age-corrected Devonian to Lower Permian sedimentary rocks (0.7073 to 0.7111), higher than the age-corrected Middle Permian basalts (0.7039 to 0.7078), and lower than the age-corrected Proterozoic folded basement (0.7243 to 0.7288). Therefore, the Sr isotope data support a mixed source. Studies on the geology and isotope geochemistry suggest that the Shanshulin deposit is a carbonate-hosted, thrust fault-controlled, strata-bound, epigenetic, high grade deposit formed by fluids and metals of mixed origin.  相似文献

The Maozu Pb–Zn deposit, located on the western margin of the Yangtze Block, southwest China, is a typical carbonate-hosted deposit in the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou Pb–Zn metallogenic province with Pb + Zn reserves of about 2.0 million tonnes grading 4.15 wt.% Pb and 7.25 wt.% Zn. Its ore bodies are hosted in Sinian (635–541 Ma) Dengying Formation dolostone and show stratiform, vein and irregular textures. Ores are composed of sphalerite, galena, pyrite, calcite, dolomite, quartz and fluorite with massive, banded, disseminated and veined structures. The C–O–Sm–Nd isotopic compositions of hydrothermal calcites and S–Pb isotopic compositions of sulfides were analyzed to constrain the origin of the Maozu deposit. δ13CPDB and δ18OSMOW values of hydrothermal calcites range from −3.7‰ to −2.0‰ and +13.8‰ to +17.5‰, respectively, and plot near the marine carbonate rocks field in a plot of δ13CPDB vs. δ18OSMOW, with a negative correlation. It suggests that CO2 in the hydrothermal fluids was mainly originated from marine carbonate rocks, with limited influence from sedimentary organic matter. δ34SCDT values of sulfides range from +9.9‰ to +19.2‰, similar to that of Cambrian to Triassic seawater sulfate (+15‰ to +35‰) and evaporate (+15‰ to +30‰) in the Cambrian to Triassic sedimentary strata. It suggests that reduced sulfur was derived from evaporate in sedimentary strata by thermo chemical sulfate reduction. Sulfides have low radiogenic Pb isotope compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.129–18.375, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.640–15.686 and 208Pb/204Pb = 38.220–38.577) that plot in the field between upper crust and the orogenic belt evolution curve in the plot of 207Pb/204Pb vs. 206Pb/204Pb, and similar to that of age corrected Proterozoic basement rocks (Dongchuan and Kunyang Groups). This indicates that ore-forming metals were mainly derived from basement rocks. Hydrothermal calcite yields a Sm–Nd isotopic age of 196 ± 13 Ma, possibly reflecting the timing of Pb–Zn mineralization in the SYG province, younger than the Permian Emeishan mantle plume (∼260 Ma). All data combined suggests that hydrothermal fluids circulated through basement rocks where they picked up metals and migrated to surface, mixed with reduced sulfur-bearing fluids and precipitated metals. Ore genesis of the Maozu deposit is different from known magmatic–hydrothermal, Sedimentary Exhalative or Mississippi Valley-types, which maybe represent a unique ore deposit type, named as the SYG-type.  相似文献

In this study, we investigated Fe and Li isotope fractionation between mineral separates of olivine pheno- and xenocrysts (including one clinopyroxyene phenocryst) and their basaltic hosts. Samples were collected from the Canary Islands (Teneriffa, La Palma) and some German volcanic regions (Vogelsberg, Westerwald and Hegau). All investigated bulk samples fall in a tight range of Li and Fe isotope compositions (δ56Fewr = 0.06–0.17‰ and δ7Lima = 2.5–5.2‰, assuming δ7Li of the olivine-free matrix is virtually identical to that of the bulk sample for mass balance reasons). In contrast, olivine phenocrysts display highly variable, but generally light Fe and mostly light Li isotope compositions compared to their respective olivine-free basaltic matrix, which was considered to represent the melt (with δ56Feol = ? 0.24 to 0.14‰ and δ7Liol = ? 10.5 to + 6.5‰, respectively). Single olivine crystals from one sample display even a larger range of δ56Feol between ? 0.7 and + 0.1‰. One single clinopyroxene phenocryst displays the lightest Li isotope composition (δ7Licpx = ? 17.7‰), but no Fe isotope fractionation relative to melt. The olivine phenocrysts show variable Mg# and Ni (correlated in most cases) that range between 0.89 and 0.74 and between 300 and 3000 μg/g, respectively. These olivines likely grew by fractional crystallization in an evolving magma. One sample from the Vogelsberg volcano contained olivine xenocrysts (Mg# > 0.89 and Ni > 3000 μg/g), in addition to olivine phenocrysts. This sample displays the highest Li- and the second highest Fe-isotope fractionation between olivine and melt (Δ7Liol-melt = ? 13; Δ56Feol-melt = ? 0.29).Our data, i.e. the variable olivine- at constant whole rock and matrix isotope compositions, strongly indicate disequilibrium, i.e. kinetic Fe and Li isotope fractionation between olivine and melt (for Li also between cpx and melt) during fractional crystallization. Δ7Liol-melt is correlated with the Li partitioning between olivine and melt (i.e. with Liol/Limelt), indicating Li isotope fractionation due to preferential (faster) diffusion of 6Li into olivine during fractional crystallization. Olivine with low Δ7Liol-melt, also have low Δ56Feol-melt, indicating that Fe isotope fractionation is also driven by diffusion of isotopically light Fe into olivine, potentially, as Fe–Mg inter-diffusion. The lowest Δ56Feol-melt (? 0.40) was observed in a sample from Westerwald (Germany) with abundant magnetite, indicating relatively oxidizing conditions during magma differentiation. This may have enhanced equilibrium Fe isotope fractionation between olivine and melt or fine dispersed magnetite in the basalt matrix may have shifted its Fe isotope composition towards higher δ56Fe. The decoupling of Li- and Fe isotope fractionation in cpx is likely due to faster diffusion of Li relative to Fe in cpx, implying that the large investigated cpx phenocryst resided in the magma for only a short period of time which was sufficient for Li- but not for Fe diffusion. The absence of any equilibrium Fe isotope fractionation between the investigated cpx phenocryst and its basaltic host may be related to the similar Fe3 +/Fe2 + of cpx and melt. In contrast to cpx, the generally light Fe isotope composition of all investigated olivine separates implies the existence of equilibrium- (in addition to diffusion-driven) isotope fractionation between olivine and melt, on the order of 0.1‰.  相似文献

Transition metal isotopes are sensitive geochemical tracers of ore genesis. Here we present MC-ICP-MS analytical data of Cu isotope compositions from the Hongshan-Hongniu Cu deposit in Yunnan province. The δ65Cu values (δ65Cu = [(65Cu/63Cu)sample/(65Cu/63Cu)NIST976  1] × 1000) of seven whole-rock quartz monzonite porphyries and twenty-two chalcopyrite samples from the skarn ore-bodies display relatively narrow ranges from −0.15‰ to 0.38‰ and from −0.02‰ to 0.77‰, respectively. The overlap of δ65Cu values indicates a genetic relationship between the quartz monzonite porphyry and skarn ore-bodies. We also evaluate the spatial and temporal variations of Cu isotope compositions in the skarn ore-bodies by comparison with some well-documented porphyry deposits in the world. The quartz monzonite porphyry shows compositional zoning with the inner domain enriched in heavy Cu isotope and the skarn related to the porphyry depleted in heavy Cu isotope. The chalcopyrites that formed during the late stage of mineralization tend to be enriched in heavy Cu isotope, and this feature is analogous to porphyry deposits. The δ65Cu values of the quartz monzonite porphyry show typical features of hypogene mineralization, suggesting a potential scope for deep exploration and development in this deposit.  相似文献

The Dapingzhang volcanogenic Cu–Pb–Zn sulfide deposit is located in the Lancangjiang tectonic zone within the Sanjiang region, Yunnan province of southwestern China. The deposit occurs within a felsic volcanic dome belonging to a mid-Silurian volcanic belt stretching for more than 100 km from Dapingzhang to Sandashan. The mineralized volcanic rocks are predominantly keratophyre and quartz keratophyre with subordinate spilite. The Dapingzhang deposit is characterized by well-developed vertical zonation with stockwork ores in the bottom, disseminated sulfide ores in the middle, and massive sulfide ores in the top, overlain by a thin layer of chemical sedimentary exhalative rocks (chert and barite). The Re–Os age of the pyrites from the deposit is 417 ± 23 Ma, indistinguishable from the age of the associated felsic volcanic rocks. The associated felsic volcanic rocks are characterized by negative Nb–Ta anomalies and positive εNd(t) values (+ 4.4–+6.5), similar to the coeval calc-alkaline volcanic rocks in the region. This observation supports the interpretation that the felsic volcanic rocks associated with the Dapingzhang deposit are the derivatives of arc basaltic magma by extensive fractional crystallization. The δ34S values of the sulfides from the deposit vary from − 1.24 to + 4.32‰, indicating a predominantly magmatic source for the sulfur. The sulfides are also characterized by homogeneous and relatively low radiogenic Pb isotope compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.310–18.656, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.489–15.643 and 208Pb/204Pb = 37.811–38.662), similar to the Pb isotopic compositions of the associated volcanic rocks. The Pb isotopic data indicate that mantle-derived Pb is more prevalent than crust-derived Pb in the deposit. The S–Pb isotopic data indicate that the important ore-forming materials were mainly derived from the associated volcanic rocks. The δ13CPDB and δ18OSMOW values of the associated hydrothermal calcite crystals vary from − 2.3‰ to + 0.27‰ and from + 14.6 to + 24.4‰, respectively. These values are between the mantle and marine carbonate values. The narrow range of the δ13CPDB values for the calcite indicates that carbon-bearing species in the hydrothermal fluids were primarily derived from marine carbonates. The δ18O values for the hydrothermal fluids, calculated from the measured values for quartz, are between − 2.1‰ and + 3.5‰. The corresponding δD values for the fluids range from − 59‰ to − 84‰. The O–H isotopic data indicate mixing between magmatic fluids and seawater in the ore-forming hydrothermal system. Similar to a typical volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposit, the ore-forming fluids contained both magmatic fluids and heated seawater; the ore metals and regents were derived from the underlying magma as well as felsic country rocks.  相似文献

The southern Great Xing'an Range is one of the most important metallogenic belts in northern China, and contains numerous Pb–Zn–Ag–Cu–Sn–Fe–Mo deposits. The Huanggang iron–tin polymetallic skarn deposit is located in the Sn-polymetallic metallogenic sub-belt. Skarns and iron orebodies occur as lenses along the contact between granite plutons and the Lower Permian Huanggangliang Formation marble or Dashizhai Formation andesite. Field evidence and petrographic observations indicate that the three stages of hydrothermal activity, i.e., skarn, oxide and sulfide stages, all contributed to the formation of the Huanggang deposit. The skarn stage is characterized by the formation of garnet and pyroxene, and high-temperature, hypersaline hydrothermal fluids with isotopic compositions that are similar to those of typical magmatic fluids. These fluids most likely were generated by the separation of brine from a silicate melt instead of being a product of aqueous fluid immiscibility. The iron oxide stage coincides with the replacement of garnet and pyroxene by amphibole, chlorite, quartz and magnetite. The hydrothermal fluids of this stage are represented by L-type fluid inclusions that coexist with V-type inclusions with anomalously low δD values (approximately − 100 to − 116‰). The decrease in ore fluid δ18OH2O values with time coincides with marked decreases in the fluid salinity and temperature. Based on the fluid inclusion and stable isotopic data, the ore fluid evolved by boiling of the magmatic brine. The sulfide stage is characterized by the development of sphalerite, chalcopyrite, fluorite, and calcite veins, and these veins cut across the skarns and orebodies. The fluids during this stage are represented by inclusions with a variable but continuous sequence of salinities, mainly low-salinity inclusions. These fluids yield the lowest δ18OH2O values and moderate δD values ( − 1.6 to − 2.8‰ and − 101 to − 104‰, respectively). The data indicate that the sulfide stage fluids originated from the mixing of residual oxide-stage fluids with various amounts of meteoric water. Boiling occurred during this stage at low temperatures. The sulfur isotope (δ34S) values of the sulfides are in a narrow range of − 6.70 to 4.50‰ (mean =  1.01‰), and the oxygen isotope (δ18O) values of the magnetite are in a narrow range of 0.1 to 3.4‰. Both of these sets of values suggest that the ore-forming fluid is of magmatic origin. The lead isotope compositions of the ore (206Pb/204Pb = 18.252–18.345, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.511–15.607, and 208Pb/204Pb = 38.071–38.388) are consistent with those of K-feldspar granites (206Pb/204Pb = 18.183–18.495, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.448–15.602, 208Pb/204Pb = 37.877–38.325), but significantly differ from those of Permian marble (206Pb/204Pb = 18.367–18.449, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.676–15.695, 208Pb/204Pb = 38.469–38.465), which also suggests that the ore-forming fluid is of magmatic origin.  相似文献

Oxygen and carbon isotope ratios of soil carbonate and carbon isotope ratios of soil organic matter (SOM) separated from three cores, Kalpi, IITK and Firozpur, of the Ganga Plain, India are used to reconstruct past rainfall variations and their effect on ambient vegetation. The δ18O values of soil carbonate (δ18OSC) analyzed from the cores range from ? 8.2 to ? 4.1‰. Using these variations in δ18OSC values we are able, for the first time, to show periodic change in rainfall amount between 100 and 18 ka with three peaks of higher monsoon at about 100, 40 and 25 ka. The estimation of rainfall variations using δ18O value of rainwater-amount effect suggests maximum decrease in rainfall intensity (~ 20%) during the last glacial maximum. The δ13C values of soil carbonate (δ13CSC) and SOM (δ13CSOM) range from ? 6.3 to + 1.6‰ and ? 28.9 to ? 19.4‰, respectively, implying varying proportions of C3 and C4 vegetations over the Ganga Plain during the last 100 ka. The comparison between monsoonal rainfall and atmospheric CO2 with vegetation for the time period 84 to 18 ka indicate that relative abundances of C3 and C4 vegetations were mainly driven by variations in monsoonal rainfall.  相似文献

The Cauê Formation of the Paleoproterozoic Minas Supergroup hosts banded iron formations (BIFs), locally called itabirites, deposited in shallow marine passive margin settings. Two major compositional types of itabirite, dolomitic and quartz itabirites, are found in the northwestern part of QF. The former consists of alternating dolomite-rich and hematite-rich bands, whereas the latter is formed with alternating quartz-rich and hematite-rich bands. Accessory minerals are chlorite, sericite, and apatite in both types.Dolomitic and quartz itabirites have a very simple chemical composition. In the dolomitic itabirite, Fe2O3 plus CaO, MgO, and LOI range from 95.8 to 97.8%, while in the quartz itabirite, Fe2O3 plus SiO2 range from 94.4 to 99.6%. Both itabirites are highly oxidized and present Fe3+/(Fe2+ + Fe3+) ratios higher than 0.98, by far superior than the average ratios of Paleoproterozoic BIFs. Trace element concentrations in itabirites are very low, ranging from <10 to 55 ppm. Dolomite shows negative δ13C values varying from −2.5 to −0.8‰ versus PDB, while the oxygen isotope data display δ18O values varying from −12.4 to −8.5‰ versus PDB. The δ13C values of the dolomitic itabirite are in the same range of those of the overlying stromatolitic dolomites of the Gandarela Formation. C and O isotopes, REE signatures, and Y/Ho ratios suggest a marine origin for the sediments of the Cauê Formation. The HREE enrichment pattern exhibited by the itabirites shows a modern seawater REE signature overprinted by a hydrothermal pattern marked by positive Eu anomalies. Very low contents of Al2O3 and TiO2 and a strong positive correlation between them indicate a minor terrigenous component in the chemically-precipitated marine sediments of the Cauê Formation. Differences in the HREE signatures of itabirites suggest that dolomitic itabirite precipitated in shallower waters receiving sediments from the continent, while quartz itabirite precipitated in deeper waters. Sea-level fluctuations caused by marine transgression–regressions possibly contributed to changes in the composition and varied input of the terrigenous sediments. These changes are expressed by the co-existence of dolomitic, quartz, and amphibolitic itabirites in the Cauê Formation, which represent lateral and vertical facies transitions of dolomitic, cherty, and shaly BIFs, respectively.  相似文献

New isotopic and chemical data on the sodium bicarbonate water and associated gases from the Razdolnoe Spa located in the coastal zone of Primorsky Kray of the Russian Far East, together with previous stable isotope data (δ18O, δD, δ13C), allow elucidation of the origin and evolution of the groundwater and gases from the spa. The water is characterized by low temperature (12 °C), TDS – 2.5–6.0 g/L, high contents of B (∼5 mg/L) and F (4.5 mg/L) and low contents of Cl and SO4. Water isotopic composition indicates its essentially meteoric origin which may comply with an older groundwater that was recharged under different (colder) climatic conditions. Major components of bubbling gases are CH4 (68 vol%), N2 (28%) and CO2 (4%). The obtained values δ13C and δD for CO2 and CH4 definitely indicate the marine microbial origin of methane. Thus the high methane content in the waters relates to the biochemical processes and presence of a dispersed organic matter in the host rocks. Based on the regional hydrogeology and the geological structure of the Razdolnoe Spa, Mesozoic fractured rocks containing Na–HCO3 mineral water and gases are reservoir rocks, a chemical composition of water and gases originates in different environmental conditions.  相似文献

Stable isotopes of injected CO2 act as useful tracers in carbon capture and storage (CCS) because the CO2 itself is the carrier of the tracer signal and remains unaffected by sorption or partitioning effects. At the Ketzin pilot site (Germany), carbon stable isotope composition (δ13C) of injected CO2 at the injection well was analyzed over a time period of 4 months. Occurring isotope variances resulted from the injection of CO2 from two different sources (an oil refinery and a natural gas-reservoir). The two gases differed in their carbon isotope composition by more than 27‰. In order to find identifiable patterns of these variances in the reservoir, more than 250 CO2-samples were collected and analyzed for their carbon isotope ratios at an observation well 100 m distant from the injection well. An isotope ratio mass spectrometer connected to a modified Thermo Gasbench system allowed quick and cost effective isotope analyses of a high number of CO2 gas specimens. CO2 gas from the oil refinery (δ13C = −30.9‰, source A) was most frequently injected and dominated the reservoir δ13C values at the injection site. Sporadic injection of the CO2 from the natural gas-reservoir (δ13C = −3.5‰, source B) caused isotope shifts of up to +5‰ at the injection well. These variances provided a potential ideal tracer for CO2 migration behavior. Based on these findings, tracer input signals that were injected during the last 2 years of injection could be reconstructed with the aid of an isotope mixing model and CO2 delivery schedules. However, in contrast to the injection well, δ13C values at the observation well showed no variances and a constant value of −28.5‰ was measured at 600 m depth. This is in disagreement with signals that would be expected if the input signals from the injection would arrive at the observation well. The lack of isotope signals at the observation well suggests that parts of the reservoir are filled with CO2 that is immobilized.  相似文献

This study examined the distributions and stable carbon isotopic compositions of saturated fatty acids (SaFAs) in one 300 cm long sedimentary profile, which was named as Site4B in Shenhu, northern South China Sea. The concentrations of total SaFAs in sediments ranged from 1.80 to 10.16 μg/g (μg FA/g dry sediment) and showed an even-over-odd predominance in the carbon chain of C12 to C32, mostly with n-C16 and n-C18 being the two major components. The short-chain fatty acids (ScFAs; n-C12 to n-C18) mainly from marine microorganisms had average δ13C values of −26.7‰ to −28.2‰, whereas some terrigenous-sourced long-chain fatty acids (LcFAs; n-C21 to n-C32) had average δ13C values of −29.6‰ to −34.1‰. The other LcFAs (n-C24 & n-C26  n-C28; average δ13C values are −26.1‰ to −28.0‰) as well as n-C19 and n-C20 SaFAs (average δ13C values are −29.1‰ and −29.3‰, respectively) showed a mixed signal of carbon isotope compositions. The relative bioproductivity calculation (marine vs. terrigenous) demonstrated that most of organic carbon accumulation throughout the sedimentary profile was contributed by marine organism. The high marine productivity in Shenhu, South China Sea may be related to the hydrocarbon seepage which evidenced by diapiric structures. Interestingly, there is a sever fluctuation of terrigenous inputs around the depth of 97 cm below the seafloor (bsf), probably resulting from the influence of the Dansgaard–Oeschger events and the Younger Dryas event as revealed by 14C age measurements.  相似文献

Determining Ge isotopic compositions of sulfides is important to understand the ore-forming processes. Single step anion-exchange chromatography was previously used to recover Ge from silicates and lignites. We apply this procedure to recover Ge from sulfides before determining Ge isotopic compositions by hydride generation (HG)-MC-ICP-MS. Germanium is quantitatively recovered by the proposed sample preparation method. There are no obvious isotope biases for Ge-bearing solutions containing significant amounts of Cu, Sn, and W. However, δ74Ge values show obvious shifts if the solutions contain high Zn, Pb, and Sb, which is possibly attributed to suppression of germane formation that fractionates Ge isotopes. The long-term reproducibility for Ge standard solution is about ± 0.18‰ for δ74Ge. Spex and Merck standard solutions yield mean δ74Ge values of − 0.70 ± 0.19‰ and − 0.36 ± 0.08‰, respectively. The calculated δ74Ge value (− 5.13‰) of sphalerite standard based on doping experiments is indistinguishable from those of sphalerite without doping (− 5.05‰ and − 5.01‰). Sulfides from the Jinding, Shanshulin, and Tianqiao Pb–Zn deposits in SW China have δ74Ge values of − 4.94‰ to + 2.07‰. The paragenetic sequence of sulfides from the Shanshulin and Tianqiao Pb–Zn deposits is pyrite, sphalerite and galena from early to late. Sulfides from the same ore show a trend of δ74Gepyrite < δ74Gesphalerite < δ74Gegalena, which may be controlled by the kinetic or Rayleigh fractionation.  相似文献

Although Zn–Pb deposits are one of the most important Cd reservoirs in the earth, few studies have focused on the Cd isotopic fractionation in Zn–Pb hydrothermal systems. This study investigates the causes and consequences of cadmium and sulfur isotope fractionation in a large hydrothermal system at the Tianbaoshan Zn–Pb–Cd deposit from the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou (SYG) metallogenic province, SW China. Moderate variations in Cd and S isotope compositions have been measured in sphalerite cover a distance of about 78 m. Sphalerite has δ114/110Cd values ranging from 0.01 to 0.57‰, and sulfides (sphalerite, galena and chalcopyrite) have δ34SCDT values ranging from 0.2 to 5.0‰. Although δ34SCDT and δ114/110Cd values in sphalerites have no regular spatial variations, the δ34SCDT values in galena and calculated ore-forming fluid temperatures decreased from 2.1 to 0.2‰ and from about 290 to 130 °C, respectively, from the bottom to the top of the deposit. Heavy Cd isotopes are enriched in early precipitated sphalerite in contrast to previous studies. We suggest that Cd isotopic compositions in ore-forming fluids are heterogeneous, which result in heavy Cd isotope enrichment in early precipitated sphalerite. In comparison with other Zn–Pb deposits in the SYG area, the Tianbaoshan deposit has moderate Cd contents and small isotope fractionation, suggesting differences in origin to other Zn–Pb deposits in the SYG province. In the Tianbaoshan deposit, the calculated δ34S∑S-fluids value is 4.2‰, which is not only higher than the mantle-derived magmatic sulfur (0 ± 3‰), but also quite lower than those of Ediacaran marine sulfates (about 30 to 35‰). Thus, we suggest that reduced sulfur of ore-forming fluids in the deposit was mainly derived from the leaching of the basement, which contains large amount of volcanic or intrusive rocks. Based upon a combination of Cd and S isotopic systems, the Tianbaoshan deposit has different geochemical characteristics from typical Zn–Pb deposits (e.g., the Huize deposit) in SYG area, indicating the unique origin of this deposit.  相似文献

The polymetallic Mykonos vein system in the Cyclades, Greece, consists of 15 tension-gashes filled with barite, quartz, pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena in ca. 13.5 Ma, I-type, Mykonos monzogranite. Zones of silica and chlorite–muscovite alteration are associated with the veins and overprint pervasive silicification, phyllic and argillic alteration that affected large parts of the monzogranite. The mineralization cements breccias and consists of an early barite–silica–pyrite–sphalerite–chalcopyrite assemblage followed by later argentiferous galena. A combination of fluid inclusion and stable isotope data suggests that the barite and associated mineralization were deposited from fluids containing 2 to 17 wt.% NaCl equivalent, at temperatures of ~ 225° to 370 °C, under a hydrostatic pressure of ≤ 100 bars. The mineralizing fluids boiled and were saturated in H2S and SO2.Calculated δ18OH2O and δDH2O, initial 87Sr/86Sr isotope compositions and the trace and REEs elements contents are consistent with a model in which the mineralizing fluids were derived during alteration of the Mykonos intrusion and subsequently mixed with Miocene seawater. Heterogeneities in the calculated δ34SSO4 2 and δ34SH2S compositions of the ore fluids indicate two distinct sources for sulfur, namely of magmatic and seawater origin, and precipitation due to reduction of the SO4 2 during fluid mixing. The physicochemical conditions of the fluids were pH = 5.0 to 6.2, logfS2 =  13.8 to − 12.5, logfO2 =  31.9 to − 30.9, logfH2S(g) =  1.9 to − 1.7, logfTe2 =  7.9 and logα(SO4 2(aq)/H2S(aq)) = + 2.6 to + 5.5. We propose that retrograde mesothermal hydrothermal alteration of the Mykonos monzogranite released barium and silica from the alkali feldspars. Barite was precipitated due to mixing of SO4 2-rich Miocene seawater with the ascending Ba-rich magmatic fluid venting upwards in the pluton.  相似文献

The Hattu schist belt is located in the western part of the Archaean Karelian domain of the Fennoscandian Shield. The orogenic gold deposits with Au–Bi–Te geochemical signatures are hosted by NE–SW, N–S and NW–SE oriented shear zones that deform 2.76–2.73 Ga volcanic and sedimentary sequences, as well as 2.75–2.72 Ga tonalite–granodiorite intrusions and diverse felsic porphyry dykes. Mo–W mineralization is also present in some tonalite intrusions, both separate from, and associated with Au mineralization. Somewhat younger, unmineralized leucogranite intrusions (2.70 Ga) also intrude the belt. Lower amphibolite facies peak metamorphism at 3–5 kbar pressures and at 500–600 °C temperatures affected the belt at around 2.70 Ga and post-date hydrothermal alteration and ore formation. In this study, we investigated the potential influence of magmatic-hydrothermal processes on the formation of orogenic gold deposits on the basis of multiple stable isotope (B, S, Cu) studies of tourmaline and sulphide minerals by application of in situ SIMS and LA ICP MS analytical techniques.Crystal chemistry of tourmaline from a Mo–W mineralization hosted by a tonalite intrusion in the Hattu schist belt is characterized by Fe3 +–Al3 +-substitution indicating relatively oxidizing conditions of hydrothermal processes. The range of δ11B data for this kind of tourmaline is from − 17.2‰ to − 12.2‰. The hydrothermal tourmaline from felsic porphyry dyke swith gold mineralization has similar crystal chemistry (e.g. dravite–povondraite compositional trend with Fe3 +–Al3 + substitution) and δ11B values between − 19.0‰ and − 9.6‰. The uvite–foitite compositional trend and δ11B ‰ values between − 24.1% and − 13.6% characterize metasomatic–hydrothermal tourmaline from the metasediment-hosted gold deposits. Composition of hydrothermal vein-filling and disseminated tourmaline from the gold-bearing shear zones in metavolcanic rocks is transitional between the felsic intrusion and metasedimentary rock hosted hydrothermal tourmaline but the range of average boron isotope data is essentially identical with that of the metasediment-hosted tourmaline. Rock-forming (magmatic) tourmaline from leucogranite has δ11B values between − 14.5‰ and − 10.8‰ and the major element composition is similar to that of the metasediment-hosted tourmaline. The range of δ34SVCDT values measured in pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite is from − 9.1 to + 8.5‰, which falls within the typical range of sulphur isotope data for Archaean orogenic gold deposits. In the Hattu schist belt, positive δ34SVCDT values characterize metasediment-hosted gold ores with sulphide parageneses dominated by pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite. The δ34SVCDT values are both positive and negative in ore mineral parageneses within felsic intrusive rocks in which variable amounts of pyrrhotite are associated with pyrite. Purely negative values were only recorded from the pyrite-dominated gold mineralization within metavolcanic units. Therefore the shift of δ34SVCDT values to the negative values reflects precipitation of sulphide minerals from relatively oxidizing fluids. The range of measured δ65CuNBS978 values from chalcopyrite is from − 1.11 to 1.19‰. Positive values are common for mineralization in felsic intrusive rocks and negative values are more typical for deposits confined to metasedimentary rocks. Positive and negative δ65CuNBS978 values occur in the ores hosted by metavolcanic rocks. There is no correlation between sulphur and copper isotope data obtained in the same chalcopyrite grains.Evaluation of sulphur and boron isotope data together and comparisons with other Archaean orogenic gold provinces supports the hypothesis that the metasedimentary rocks were the major sources of sulphur and boron in the orogenic gold deposits in the Hattu schist belt. Variations in major element and boron isotope compositions in tourmaline, as well as in the δ34SVCDT values in sulphide minerals are attributed to localized involvement of magmatic fluids in the hydrothermal processes. The results of copper isotope studies indicate that local sources of copper in orogenic gold deposits may potentially be recognized if the original, distinct signatures of the sources have not been homogenized by widespread interaction of fluids with a large variety of rocks and provided that local chemical variations have been too small to trigger changes in the oxidation state of copper during hydrothermal processes.  相似文献

Banded iron formations (BIFs) are Precambrian chemical marine sedimentary formations that record major transitions of chemical composition, and oxidation–reduction state of oceans at the time of their deposition. In this paper, we report silicon and oxygen isotope compositions of a variety of BIFs from the North China Craton (NCC) in order to deduce the mechanism of their formation. Quartz in the various types of BIFs from the NCC are generally depleted in 30Si, where δ30SiNBS-28 values range from − 2.0‰ to − 0.3‰ (average, − 0.8‰), similar to δ30SiNBS-28 values measured from modern submarine black chimneys and sinters. The δ18OV-SMOW values of quartz in the BIFs are relatively high (8.1‰–21.5‰; average, 13.1‰), similar to those of siliceous rock formed by hydrothermal activities. The δ30SiNBS-28 values of quartz in magnetite bands are commonly lower than those of quartz in adjacent siliceous bands within the same sample, whereas δ18OV-SMOW values are higher in the magnetite bands. A negative correlation is observed between δ30SiNBS-28 and δ18OV-SMOW values of quartz from siliceous and magnetite bands in BIF from Fuping, Hebei Province. The isotopic compositions of silicon and oxygen of quartz in BIFs provide insights for the formation mechanisms of silicon–iron cyclothems in BIFs. After the silicon- and iron-rich hydrothermal solution was injected onto the seabed, the abrupt temperature drop caused oversaturation of silicic acid, resulting in rapid precipitation of SiO2 and deposition of siliceous layers. Ferric hydroxide was precipitated later than SiO2 because of low free-oxygen concentration in the ocean bottom. Progressive mixing of hydrothermal solution with seawater caused a continuous drop in temperature and an increase in Eh values, resulting in gradual oxidation of hydrothermal Fe2 + and deposition of iron-rich layers. In summary, each silicon–iron cyclothem marks a large-scale submarine hydrothermal exhalation. The periodic nature of these exhalations resulted in the formation of regular silicon–iron cyclothems. The widespread distribution of BIFs indicates that volcanism and submarine hydrothermal exhalation were extensive; the low δ30SiNBS-28 and high δ18O V-SMOW values of the BIFs indicate that the temperature of seawater was relatively high at the time of BIF formation, and that concentrations of Fe2 + and H4SiO4 in seawater were saturated.  相似文献

Concentrations of total organic matter (TOC), carbon isotopic compositions of carbonate and organic matter (δ13Ccarb, δ13Corg), and sulfur isotopic compositions of carbonate associated sulfate (δ34Ssulfate) across the Guadalupian–Lopingian (G–L) boundary were analyzed from identical samples of Tieqiao section, Laibin, Guangxi province, South China. The δ13Ccarb values show a positive excursion from − 0.45‰ to the peak of 3.80‰ in the Laibin limestone member of the Maokou Formation, followed by a drastic drop to − 2.60‰ in the lowest Heshan formation, then returned to about 1.58‰. Similar to the trends of the δ13Ccarb values, Δ13Ccarb–org values also show a positive excursion followed by a sharp negative shift. The onset of a major negative carbon isotope excursion postdates the end Guadalupian extinction that indicates subsequent severe disturbance of the ocean–atmosphere carbon cycle. The first biostratigraphic δ34Ssulfate values during the G–L transition exhibit a remarkable fluctuation: a dramatic negative shift followed by a rapid positive shift, ranging from 36.88‰ to − 37.41‰. These sulfate isotopic records suggest that the ocean during the G–L transition was strongly stratified, forming an unstable chemocline separating oxic shallow water from anoxic/euxinic deep water. Chemocline excursions, together with subsequent rapid transgression and oceanic anoxia, were likely responsible for the massive diversity decline of the G–L biotic crisis.  相似文献

Strontium and carbon isotope stratigraphy was applied to a 202 m-thick shallow marine carbonate section within the Late Jurassic Bau Limestone at the SSF quarry in northwest Borneo, Malaysia, which was deposited in the western Palaeo-Pacific. Strontium isotopic ratios of rudist specimens suggest that the SSF section was formed between the latest Oxfordian (155.95 Ma) and the Late Kimmeridgian (152.70 Ma), which is consistent with previous biostratigraphy. The δ13Ccarb values of bulk carbonate range from −0.10 to +2.28‰ and generally show an increasing upward trend in the lower part of the section and a decreasing upward trend in the upper part of the section. A comparable pattern is preserved in the δ13Corg isotope record. Limestone samples of the SSF section mainly preserve the initial δ13Ccarb values, except for the interval 84–92 m, where an apparent negative anomaly likely developed as a result of meteoric diagenesis. Comparing with the Tethyan δ13Ccarb profile, a negative anomaly in the lower SSF section can be correlated with the lowered δ13C values around the Oxfordian/Kimmeridgian boundary. In addition, δ13Ccarb values of the Bau Limestone are generally ∼1‰ lower than the Tethyan values, but comparable with the values reported from Scotland and Russia, located in Boreal realm during the Late Jurassic. This suggests that either the Tethyan record or the other records have been affected by the δ13C values of regionally variable dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC). The Late Jurassic δ13CDIC values are thought to have been regionally variable as a result of their palaeoceanographic settings. This study shows that δ13C chemostratigraphy of the Palaeo-Pacific region contributes to an improved understanding of global carbon cycling and oceanography during this time period.  相似文献
