This paper is related to study of the ion density recorded by the low altitude satellite DEMETER. It will present ionospheric perturbations observed during large seismic events. As the ionosphere is highly variable, the paper will show a statistical analysis performed on the plasma parameters during night time. An algorithm has been implemented to detect crests and troughs in the data before world-wide earthquakes. The earthquakes have been classified depending on their magnitude, depth, and location (land, below the sea, close to a coast). Due to the orbit, DEMETER returns above the same area every day (once during day time, once during night time) but not at the same distance of a given epicenter. Then, for each earthquake, data have been checked until 15 days before the shock when the distance between the trace of the orbit and the epicenter is less than 1 500 km. The results of the statistical analysis are presented as functions of various parameters. A comparison is done with two other databases where, on one hand, the location of the epicenters has been randomly modified, and on the other hand, the longitude of the epicenters has been shifted. Results show that the number and the intensity of the ionospheric perturbations are larger prior to earthquakes than prior to random events, and that the perturbations increase with the magnitude.  相似文献

基于法国DEMETER卫星ISL探测器升轨数据,统计分析了2005—2009年全球37个Mw≥7.0级地震前后电离层电子浓度变化.结果发现,共有19个地震(51%)前观测到了较为明显的电子浓度异常扰动现象,其中大部分表现为异常增强;观测到的电子浓度异常现象一般出现在震前1~5天内,也有部分地震前出现两次及以上扰动现象.分析表明,在赤道和中低纬地区更容易观测到明显的电子浓度扰动,即异常震例基本发生在纬度±40°以内(18次),更是以±20°内居多(13次).此外,震源深度对电子浓度扰动的影响并不明显,而震级大小则与扰动幅度基本上呈正相关;震前出现的电子浓度异常有时会受到地磁活跃的共同影响,此时的扰动幅度一般较大.地震电离层扰动现象是复杂多变的,需要联合地基和天基手段共同观测,并从机理上加强研究.  相似文献

DEMETER卫星由法国于2004年6月发射,高度约为665 km,圆轨道且经过极区,其主要目的是研究与地震有关的电离层异常.2008年5月12日6∶28(世界时)在四川省汶川县(31.02°N, 103.37°E)发生了Ms8.0级的特大地震.本文分析了在震前一周内DEMETER卫星观测到的电离层异常.这些异常主要包括:(1)卫星在震前4天和5天经过震中附近时,记录到电子浓度、电子温度和氧离子浓度出现剧烈变化(变化率均超过20%);(2)在震前3天和7天,卫星探测到增强的电磁辐射.同时利用ELF频段(0~1250 Hz)的三分量电场和磁场数据,对异常电磁辐射作了进一步的分析(计算了电场功率谱、磁场功率谱、波矢方向和极化特性等).另外,考查了观测期间的地磁指数,由此得出观测到的异常现象不大可能由地磁活动引起.最后,对震前出现的这些电离层异常的可能的物理机理进行了讨论.  相似文献

The electron density recorded onboard the DEMETER satellite was analyzed to search for possible anomalies before earthquakes both in space and time. To distinguish pre-earthquake anomalies from the other anomalies related to geomagnetic activity, data were filtered using the Kp index. The analysis is based on the comparison of data recorded closely to earthquakes in space and time and past data for the same area. In analyzing data around the time and location of the Pu’er and Wenchuan earthquakes, obvious anomalies in electron density were found close to the epicenters, and some remarkable disturbances were detected before the earthquakes occurred. The results were finally compared with those of previous works that used the same data but employed different analysis methods. Good agreement was found which suggests that these anomalies have a close relation to the earthquake preparation.  相似文献

本文利用2005年1月—2009年12月DEMETER电磁卫星观测的极低频/甚低频(ELF/VLF)39 Hz~6 kHz频段电场功率谱密度(PSD)观测量, 将研究频段划分为5个子频段对东北亚地区(38°N~58°N; 105°E~145°E)内发生的8个MS≥5.0地震前后空间电场时空演化特征进行研究。 研究发现同一地震不同频段异常扰动区域并不完全在同一位置, 且同一地震的不同频段地震前后扰动形态也并不一致; 8个地震40次统计中有25% 的统计数据虽然基本在地震前后所有时间段都超过阈值2σ, 但未见明显扰动规律, 其余75%的统计数据中发现其扰动特征可以归纳为3类: 52%的统计数据在震前扰动幅度增大, 达到最大时发震, 震后持续降低; 7.5%的统计数据在震前扰动幅度达到高值, 而后下降过程中发震; 15%的统计数据在震前扰动幅度一直在增加且绝大部分时间低于2σ, 直至震后超过2σ, 且出现这种类型的异常均为震例的第五频段演化特征。 异常扰动区域主要集中在震中±4°以外的区域。  相似文献

分析了DEMETER卫星上测量的极低频(ELF, 3—30 Hz)和超低频(SLF, 30—300 Hz)水平磁场. 其统计变化规律与地面上实测的此频段大气噪声变化规律一致, 并且数值差异也符合电波传播规律, 说明卫星上监测的电磁场来源于地面. 同时对DEMETER卫星上测量的ELF和SLF归一化波阻抗进行了深入地分析, 由电子密度与离子密度计算出的归一化波阻抗与由实测电磁场计算出的归一化波阻抗均有差异. 现有观测资料并不完全“自洽”, 尚有问题需深入研究.   相似文献

利用张衡一号电磁卫星朗缪尔探针观测的原位电子密度数据和等离子体分析仪观测的原位氧离子密度数据,针对2022年1月8日青海门源MS6.9地震,分析震前电子密度和氧离子密度异常特征,并总结以往震例。结果显示,在门源MS6.9地震前11天出现电子密度和氧离子密度高值异常;对电离层异常进行震例统计分析,发现大多数地震前6天以内出现电离层异常,且走滑型地震和逆冲型地震震前居多,讨论异常产生的机理可能为大气声重波机制和电场机制。  相似文献

A destructive shock with magnitude of 6.3 occurred on 2 June 2007 at 21h34min56s UT in Pu’er region (23.0°N, 101.1°E), Yunnan Province, China. The data from DEMETER satellite during the period from 23 May to 2 June, i.e., ten days before the earthquake and one day just on the day of earthquake occurrence, were analyzed. Among the 284 orbits of DEMETER during the period, 29 orbits with the trace passing through the region within 1 888 km from the epicenter were selected to be studied. Seven anomalous events were found on the dataset of the seven orbits among the 29 ones. There existed synchronous perturbations on the variations of the spectrogram of the electric field and the variations of the density and temperature of the ions and electron, in contrast with the variations of its surround- ing area. And five events appeared in the space within 1 888 km from the epicenter while the other two were out of the studied area. Electrostatic turbulences were also recorded with the synchronous perturbations with that in the electron density and ions density in plasma in the region near the epicenter in the five events, which seems to sug- gest that there be some physical relation between these events and the preparation processes of Pu’er earthquake.  相似文献

The satellite low-latitude and midlatitude measurements of the disturbed postsunset plasma density and electron temperature at altitudes of ~900 km have been compared with the data of incoherent scattering and high-altitude rocket launching at the corresponding local time. It has been found that plasma density disturbances are independently caused by the turbulent interaction between atmospheric masses of gas and plasma ascending from heated and not yet cooled ionospheric regions and cooling masses descending from protonospheric altitudes. Plasma regions with an energetically nonequilibrium vertical density distribution of the mixture of heavy ion impurity (O+) and major light ions (H+) can simultaneously appear, as a result of which the gradient-drift impurity instability is generated. If this instability is sufficiently developed, there appears an anomalous ion drift with the formation of real plasma regions of decreased density. All these phenomena generate different irregularities in a wide range of scales: from several tens or hundreds of meters to several hundreds of kilometers.  相似文献

本文利用DEMETER卫星观测到的电磁场数据, 统计分析了2005—2009年全球MS≥7.0强震前后空间电磁场的时空演化特征. 在震中上空±10°范围内, 使用震前90天至震后30天的5年同期观测到的电磁场极低频/甚低频(370—897 Hz)功率谱密度数据构建了稳定的背景场观测模型, 提取了震中上空的空间电磁场相对于背景场的扰度幅度, 并统计分析了强震前后空间电磁场的时空演化特征. 统计结果显示: 45次MS≥7.0强震中, 35次强震在地震发生前后磁场最大扰动幅度超过2.2倍标准差, 39次强震的电场最大扰动幅度超过2倍标准差; 最大的电磁扰动主要出现在震中±4°—±10°范围内. 另外, 震中上空的电磁场扰动幅度时序变化表现为3种不同类型的扰动特征, 且震前出现电磁异常的强震震中位置的分布特征与纬度存在一定关系; 而随机选择的非震区上空空间电磁场的扰动幅度则比较小, 未呈现出明显的特征.   相似文献

The Equatorial Spread-F (ESF) phenomenon is recorded in ionograms as a hierarchy of plasma instabilities in the F-layer of the equatorial ionosphere. The ESF is characterized by irregularities in the plasma (electron and ion) density and electric field distributions perpendicular to the Earth’s magnetic field. Large scale irregularities are generated by a primary plasma instability that develops in electric fields and plasma densities. Other secondary instabilities then develop and generate irregularities at several scale sizes that often produce a plasma ‘hole’ or ‘bubble’ that rises up with high E×B velocities. The ESF/plasma bubble phenomenon has been studied extensively with experimental techniques and modeling, which revealed important features. In the bottom side F-layer, near sunset, when the vertical density gradient steepens as the layer is supported by the horizontal (North–South) Earth’s magnetic field lines against the omnipresent Earth’s gravitational acceleration (g), the plasma conditions can give rise to Rayleigh–Taylor (RT) type instability. But the observed day to day variability of the ESF occurrence suggested that other agencies may also be involved in generating the instability. Sekar and Raghavarao (1987) with linear theory, and Raghavarao, Sekar and Suhasini (1992), with non-linear numerical modeling, suggested that vertical downward (upward) winds in the ambient gas have the potential to cause (inhibit) the ESF/bubble phenomenon. The presence of downward winds near the equator was reported earlier. In this paper, we show evidence for the presence of downward winds collocated with irregularities in electric fields and plasma densities as revealed by an unique combination of highly accurate measurements with instruments onboard the DE-2 satellite. The observations reported here are also consistent with the notion that the build-up of the equatorial ionization anomaly (EIA) prior to local sunset is important for the ESF instability.  相似文献

A theory of the generation of plasma density irregularities with virtually no aspect sensitivity, in the lower ionosphere at high latitudes, by electron drifts aligned with the geomagnetic field, is presented. The theory is developed through fluid equations in which the destabilising mechanism involves positive feedback from electron collisional heating. When field aligned electron drift speeds exceed a few km s–1, this effect destabilises waves with wavelengths in excess of a few tens of metres in the lower E-region, where collisional effects are sufficiently large. Furthermore, the threshold conditions are almost independent of the wave propagation direction and the unstable waves propagate at speeds well below the ion acoustic speed. The role that this new instability may play in recent radar backscatter observations of short scale irregularities propagating in directions close to that of the geomagnetic field, in the lower E-region is also considered.  相似文献

We discuss the propagation of sounding radio waves in the inhomogeneous ionosphere, in the reflection area of which there are small-scale artificial magnetically-positioned irregularities. The propagation of radio waves in such an area, where the lateral dimensions of strongly elongated artificial irregularities are smaller than the wavelength, has a diffraction nature. It is shown that the calculation of diffraction parameters makes it possible to derive the amplitude of density irregularities and their relative area perpendicular to the magnetic field direction. Comparison of theoretical calculations with experimental studies on modification of the electron density altitude profile by heating of the ionosphere with midlatitude stand Sura showed that the relative area of the negative density perturbations can reach several percent.  相似文献

Based on the case studies and statistical analysis of earthquake-related ionospheric disturbances mainly from DEMETER satellite, ground-based GPS and ionosounding data, this paper summarizes the statistical characteristics of earthquake-related ionospheric disturbances, including electromagnetic emissions, plasma perturbations and variation of energetic particle flux. According to the main results done by Chinese scientists, fusing with the existed study from global researches, seismo-ionospheric disturbances usually occurred a few days or hours before earthquake occurrence. Paralleling to these case studies, lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere (LAI) coupling mechanisms are checked and optimized. A thermo-electric model was proposed to explain the seismo-electromagnetic effects before earthquakes. A propagation model was put forward to explain the electromagnetic waves into the ionosphere. According to the requirement of earthquake prediction research, China seismo-electromagnetic satellite, the first space-based platform of Chinese earthquake stereoscopic observation system, is proposed and planned to launch at about the end of 2014. It focuses on checking the LAI model and distinguishing earthquake-related ionospheric disturbance. The preliminary design for the satellite will adopt CAST-2000 platform with eight payloads onboard. It is believed that the satellite will work together with the ground monitoring network to improve the capability to capture seismo-electromagnetic information, which is beneficial for earthquake monitoring and prediction researches.  相似文献

2005年3月28日苏门答腊发生8.6级地震,通过分析处在地磁活动平静期的震前15天的数据,发现3月20、22、23和28日在赤道区域多个参量上出现电离层扰动,如电场和等离子体参量,认为这些电离层扰动可能与本次强震有关.震前电子密度异常有两种形态,一种是在原来的峰值变化区电子密度单调增加,幅度超过1σ,如3月20日和28日的异常;另外一种是改变了原来在赤道区的单峰变化形态,而呈现了双峰值和赤道谷值的变化形态,如3月22日和23日的扰动.分析结果显示,这两种形态的电子密度扰动都分布在一个比较大的范围内,经度上跨越100°,纬度范围30°,显示了比较长的异常持续时间和全球变化特性.VLF频段电场频谱的数据分析表明双峰形态的扰动不是磁共轭效应.同时低频电场扰动相对电子密度而言集中在一个相对小范围内,当Ne单调上升时,电场扰动却只出现在离震中最近的轨道上.分析认为震源产生的电场信号直接传播进入电离层是非常困难的,但是它可以通过岩石层-大气层-电离层圈层耦合机制造成电离层扰动.结合离子成分及其变化形态的分析,震前氧离子变化形态与氢、氦离子的形态相反,这与其他地震前的电离层异常扰动形态是类似的.综合分析认为,对于与地震相关的电离层异常的识别需要结合多个观测参量的联合分析.  相似文献

本文首先从电子密度及电子温度的输运方程和考虑自作用时的电磁波波动方程出发,利用简正模展开的方法推导出泵波在反射区域激发出热自聚焦不稳定性(thermal self-focusing instabilities,TSFI)所需电场阈值以及其增长率的完整数学表达式,并估算了TSFI激发阈值及所对应的有效辐射功率(ERP)的量级.随后利用三维垂直加热的理论模型,结合国际参考电离层(IRI-2012)和中性大气模型(MSIS-E-00)给出的背景参数,数值模拟了大功率高频泵波加热电离层时泵波反射区域电子密度及电子温度因TSFI而产生的变化及发展的过程,并对比分析了不同背景参数对较热效果的影响.结果表明:当高频泵波的加热阈值达到或超过百毫伏每米的量级时,即可激发TSFI,发展出大尺度电子密度及温度不均匀体,这些不均匀体内的密度耗空约为4%~10%,而电子温度剧烈增长,到达背景温度值的1.6~2.1倍;且在相当的加热条件下,背景电子温度越低、电子密度越小,加热效果越显著;电子密度及电子温度的扰动幅度随着加热时间的推移而逐渐减小,即扰动逐渐趋于饱和,且电子温度要快于电子密度达到饱和状态.本文还对泵波反射高度处的电子密度及电子温度变化率进行采样并求得其功率谱密度,分析结果表明:TSFI发展出的大尺度不均匀体满足幂律谱结构,谱指数随着加热的进行逐渐趋于稳定,白天与夜间的幂律谱指数区别不大,但电子密度与电子温度的幂律谱有所区别.  相似文献

In the dayside polar region—loosely referred to as the cleft region—particle precipitation and Joule heating cause significant perturbations of the upper atmosphere. Here Dynamics Explorer-2 satellite data are used to present a synopsis of these disturbance effects. Documented are an increase in electron temperature and a decrease in electron density; increases in ion drift speed and ion temperature; an increase in the upward-directed ion velocity; increases in zonal wind speed and neutral gas temperature; and changes in the neutral gas composition and mass density. It is suggested that the increase in electron temperature is partly controlled by the decrease in electron density; that the ion upflow velocity mainly depends on the electron temperature, less frequently on the ion temperature; and that the observed decrease in thermospheric mass density is due to a decrease in the atomic oxygen density, which in turn is caused by diverging wind flows.  相似文献
