A theoretical investigation of the one dimensional dynamics of nonlinear electrostatic dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of ion fluid, non-thermal electrons and fluctuating immobile dust particles has been made by the reductive perturbation technique. The basic features of DIA solitary and shock waves are studied by deriving the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and KdV Burger equations, respectively. It is shown that the special patterns of nonlinear electrostatic waves are significantly modified by the presence of the non-thermal electron component. In particular, the rarefactive solitary and shock structures are found with smaller amplitude in comparison to the isothermal case. The transition from DIA solitary to shock waves is also studied which is related to the contributions of the dispersive and dissipative terms. It is found that the dust charge fluctuation is a source of dissipation, and is responsible for the formation of the dust ion-acoustic shock waves. Furthermore, the dissipative effect becomes important and may prevail over that of dispersion as the population of non-thermal electrons present decreases. The present investigation may be of relevance to electrostatic solitary structures observed in many space dusty plasma, such as Saturn’s E-ring.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation is developed to study the existence, formation and basic properties of arbitrary amplitude dust ion-acoustic solitary potentials in a dusty plasma consisting of warm ions, trapped electrons and immobile negative (positive) dust particles. It is found a definite interval for the Mach number for which solitary waves exist and depend sensitively on the ion temperature and negative (positive) dust concentration. In addition, the effects of ion temperature, two oppositely charged dust species and resonant electrons on the shape of the solitary waves are also investigated extensively. For both cases of negative and positive dust grains, the effect of ion temperature is found to be destructive for the formation of localized structures. Further, the amplitude of the solitary structures decreases (increases) with the increase in the negative (positive) dust concentration.  相似文献

For an unmagnetized collisionless electron–positron–ion plasma, the effects of trapped and non-thermal electron distributions are incorporated in the study of arbitrary amplitude ion-acoustic solitary structures. Both highly and weakly analyses are examined by deriving an energy integral equation involving the Sagdeev potential for the large amplitude limit, and obtaining the non-linear partial-differential equations for the small but finite amplitude limit. It is shown that there exist ion-acoustic solitary waves with qualitatively different structures in a way that depend on the population of trapped and non-thermal electrons. In the presence of trapped electrons, fully non-linear analyses show that plasma can support only arbitrary amplitude compressive solitary waves. On the other hand, a consideration of the fast or non-thermal electron distribution provides the possibility of the coexistence of large amplitude compressive and rarefactive solitary waves, whereas both of them are decoupled in the small amplitude limit. It is found that the effects of such electron distributions and positron concentration change the maximum values of the Mach number and the amplitude for which solitary waves can exist. Furthermore, the non-thermally distributed electrons provide a KdV equation in the small amplitude limit, whereas the trapped electrons give rise to a modified KdV equation which exhibits a stronger non-linearity.  相似文献

The effects of dust polarity and superthermal electrons are incorporated in the study of dust ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary waves (SWs) as well double layers (DLs) in a dusty plasma containing warm adiabatic ions, superthermal electrons, and arbitrarily (positively or negatively) charged immobile dust. Based on the energy-like integral equation, a new relationship between the localized electrostatic disturbances and dust polarity is derived. It is shown that there exists rarefactive SWs and DLs with qualitatively different structures in a way that depends on the population of superthermal electrons. As the electrons evolve their thermodynamic equilibrium, the localized structures are found with larger amplitude. It is also found that their amplitude increases (decreases) with the increase in the negative (positive) dust number density.  相似文献

The properties of arbitrary amplitude dust ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary waves (SWs) in a dusty plasma containing warm adiabatic ions, electrons following flat-topped velocity distribution, and arbitrarily (positively or negatively) charged immobile dust is studied by the pseudo-potential approach. The effects of ion temperature, resonant electrons, and dust number density are found to significantly modify the basic features of the DIA-SWs as well modify the parametric regime for the existence of compressive DIA-SWs. The pseudo-potential for small but finite amplitude limit is also analytically analyzed.  相似文献

It is shown that the three-dimensional cylindrical Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (CKP) and the extended cylindrical Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (ECKP) equations can describe the propagation of nonplanar dust ion-acoustic excitations in a dusty plasma composed of positive ions, negative ions, stationary dust particles, as well as trapped electrons or a small percentage of trapped electrons. It is found that the solution of the CKP equation supports only solitary pulses, while the ECKP equation describes the propagation of both solitary and shock excitations. The effects of physical parameters, namely negative ions density, dust grains density, positive-to-negative mass ratio, direction cosine of the wave propagation on the pulses profile are examined. Furthermore, the existence regions of either localized or shock pulses are investigated. The relevance of nonlinear structures in the Earth’s ionosphere and plasma experiment is discussed.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation is carried out for understanding the basic features of oblique propagation of linear and nonlinear ion-acoustic waves subjected to an external magnetic field in an electron-positron-ion plasma which consists of a cold magnetized ion fluid, Boltzmann distributed positron, and electrons obeying a trapped distribution. In the linear regime, two dispersion curves are obtained. It is shown that the positron concentration causes the both modes to propagate with smaller phase velocities. Then, owing to the presence of resonant electrons, the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation describing the nonlinear dynamics of small but finite amplitude ion-acoustic waves is derived. It is found that the effects of external magnetic field (obliqueness), trapped electrons, positron concentration and temperature ratio significantly modify the basic features of solitary waves.  相似文献

The purpose of the present work is to investigate some nonlinear properties of the dust ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary waves in a four-component hot-magnetized dusty plasma consisting of charged dust grains, positively charged ions and two-temperature isothermal electrons. Applying a reductive perturbation theory, a nonlinear Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation for the first-order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous KdV-type equation for the second-order perturbed potentials are derived. Stationary solutions of these coupled equations are obtained using a renormalization method. A method based on energy consideration is used to obtain a condition for stable solitons. The effects of two different types of isothermal electrons, external oblique magnetic field, concentration of negatively (positively) charged dust grains and higher-order nonlinearity on the nature of the DIA solitary waves are discussed. The numerical results are applied to Saturn's E-ring.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation is made on the formation as well as basic properties of dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) shock waves in a magnetized nonthermal dusty plasma consisting of immobile charge fluctuating dust, inertial ion fluid and nonthermal electrons. The reductive perturbation method is employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation governing the DIA shock waves. The combined effects of external static magnetic field, obliqueness, nonthermal electron distribution and dust charge fluctuation on the DIA shock waves are also investigated. It is shown that the dust charge fluctuation is a source of dissipation, and is responsible for the formation of the DIA shock waves. It is also observed that the combined effects of obliqueness, nonthermal electron distribution and dust charge fluctuation significantly modify the basic properties of the DIA shock waves. The implications of our results in space and laboratory dusty plasma situations are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The properties of small but finite amplitude dust acoustic (DA) shock waves are studied in a charge varying dusty plasma with ions and electrons having kappa velocity distribution. We obtain the global Debye length including the influence of suprathermality effects and dust charge fluctuations. It is shown that the effects of suprathermality of ions/electrons and dust charge fluctuation significantly modify the basic properties of DA shock wave. We observe that only negative DA shock waves will be excited in this model. The amplitude of DA shock wave increases with deviation of electrons or ions from Maxwellian distribution via decrease of spectral index, κ j (j=i,e denotes, ions and electrons, respectively). Also, it is indicated that the amplitude and steepness of the shock front decreases with an increase in the ion temperature.  相似文献

Arbitrary amplitude ion-acoustic solitary waves propagating in a magnetized plasma composed of positive ions, superthermal electrons and positrons are investigated. For this purpose, the ions are represented by the hydrodynamical fluid equations while the non-Maxwellian electrons and positrons densities are assumed to follow kappa (κ) distribution. The basic equations are reduced to a pseudoenergy-balance equation. Existence conditions for large amplitude solitary waves are presented. The analytical and numerical analysis of the latter show that the ion-acoustic solitary wave can propagate only in the subsonic region in our plasma system and it is significantly influenced by the plasma parameters. The present analysis could be helpful for understanding the nonlinear ion-acoustic solitary waves propagating in interstellar medium and pulsar wind, which contain an excess of superthermal particles.  相似文献

For an unmagnetized multicomponent dusty plasma, the effects of non-thermal electron distribution, ion temperature and two oppositely charged dust grains are incorporated in the study of arbitrary amplitude solitary waves. An energy-like integral equation involving Sagdeev potential is derived, and the existence, formation and basic properties of solitons are studied. It is also found a definite interval for the Mach number for which solitary waves exist and depends sensitively upon the population of fast or non-thermal electrons present. Our results should be useful to understand the properties of localized electrostatic disturbances that may occur in space dusty plasma.  相似文献

Our recent analysis on nonlinear nonextensive dust-acoustic waves (DA) [Amour and Tribeche in Phys. Plasmas 17:063702, 2010] is extended to include self-consistent nonadiabatic grain charge fluctuation. The appropriate nonextensive electron charging current is rederived based on the orbit-limited motion theory. Our results reveal that the amplitude, strength and nature of the nonlinear DA waves (solitons and shocks) are extremely sensitive to the degree of ion nonextensivity. Stronger is the electron correlation, more important is the charge variation induced nonlinear wave damping. The anomalous dissipation effects may prevail over that dispersion as the electrons evolve far away from their Maxwellian equilibrium. Our investigation may be of wide relevance to astronomers and space scientists working on interstellar dusty plasmas where nonthermal distributions are turning out to be a very common and characteristic feature.  相似文献

Weak ion-acoustic solitary waves (IASWs) in unmagnetized plasmas having two-fluid ions and kappa-distributed electrons are considered. The effects of electron suprathermality, warm ion temperature and polarity on the nonlinear properties of these IASWs are analyzed. It is found that our present plasma model may support compressive as well as rarefactive solitary structures.  相似文献

Propagation of plasma-acoustic wave has been studied in magnetized plasma contaminated with dust charged grains. It has shown that, because of the configuration of magnetized plasma contaminated with dust charge fluctuation, pseudopotential method fails to derive nonlinear wave equation. We thus exercise an alternate approach to yield wave equation in the form of Sagdeev-like potential equation which enables the success to study the nonlinear waves. Again a modified mathematical formalism known as tanh-method has the merit to evaluate the soliton features in relation to its expectation in space. The method has its success in finding the solitary waves along with other exciting formation of shock-like wave, soliton radiation in soliton propagation. The results have more realistic interpretation in showing explicitly the interaction of magnetic field and impurity caused by dust charge variation.  相似文献

Weak dust ion-acoustic (DIA) double- layers (DLs) in a dusty plasma with nonextensive electrons are addressed. A generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation with a cubic nonlinearity is derived. It is shown that under certain conditions, the effect of electron nonextensivity can be quite important. In particular, it may be noted that due to the net negative dust charge and electron nonextensivity, the present dusty plasma model may admit compressive as well as rarefactive weak DIA-DLS. Considering the wide relevance of nonlinear oscillations in space dusty plasmas, our investigation may be taken as a prerequisite for the understanding of the nonlinear structures observed in the ionosphere and the auroral acceleration regions.  相似文献

A set of multi-fluid equations and Maxwell’s equations are carried out to investigate the properties of nonlinear fast magnetoacoustic solitary waves with the combined effects of dusty plasma pressure and transverse perturbation in the bounded cylindrical geometry. The reductive perturbation method has been applied to the dynamical system causeway and the derived two dimensional cylindrical Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation (CKP) predicts different natures of solitons in complex plasma. Under a suitable coordinate transformation the CKP equation can be solved analytically. The change in the soliton structure due to mass of dust, ion temperature, ion density, and dust temperature is studied by numerical calculation of the CKP equation. It is noted that the dust cylindrical fast magnetoacoustic solitary waves in warm plasmas may disappear slowly because of an increase in dust mass. The present analysis could be helpful for understanding the nonlinear ion-acoustic solitary waves propagating in interstellar medium and pulsar wind, which contain an excess of superthermal particles.  相似文献

A rigorous theoretical investigation has been made of arbitrary amplitude dust-acoustic solitary structures in an unmagnetized three-component dusty plasma whose constituents are an inertial charged dust fluid and Boltzmann distributed ions and electrons. The pseudo-potential approach and the reductive perturbation technique are employed for this study. It is found from both weakly and highly nonlinear analyses that the dusty plasma model can support solitary waves only with negative potential but not with positive potential. The effects of equilibrium free electron density and its temperature on these solitary structures are discussed. The implications of these results to some astrophysical and space plasma systems, especially to planetary ring-systems and cometary tails, are briefly mentioned. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Nonlinear dust acoustic (DA) shock waves are studied in a nonextensive charge varying complex plasma. A burger-like equation the coefficients of which is significantly modified by nonextensivity and dust charge fluctuation is derived. It is found that the influence of particle (electrons and ions) nonextensivity and dust charge fluctuation affect the basic properties of the collisionless DA shock wave drastically.  相似文献
