An industry accepted standard does not currently exist for determination of compression limits in a subsea cable. This has resulted in most manufacturers specifying that subsea cables are not permitted to be axially loaded in compression.Additionally industry guidance does not exist regarding the consequences of inducing compression forces within subsea cables and the resulting effect on cable integrity. Industry recommended practice and guidance also does not have any information regarding experimental test arrangements to determine allowable compression levels within a subsea cable. This lack of modelling/testing guidance along with manufacturer recommendations of zero compressive loads within subsea cables results in overly conservative and restrictive design parameters for subsea cable installation and use.Due to the complex interaction within a subsea cable structure, such as contact interaction and friction between cable strands, theoretical modelling has been unable to provide reliable stress predictions and therefore an experimental testing regime is required if compression limits within the cable are to be appropriately determined. This paper describes combined axial and bending test arrangements that can be used as a guideline for determination of allowable compression limits for subsea cables.  相似文献

A novel PVDF hydrophone is described which has a sensitivity of -183 dBV/μPa or better and can be made in lengths from 4 cm to more than 1 m, and in diameters from 8 mm to >40 mm. It is based on a piezoelectric PVDF cable which allows considerable design freedom because of its very great mechanical flexibility and high longitudinal piezoelectric coefficient. The design centres on a helical structure which translates a hydrostatic pressure field into a longitudinal compressive strain in the cable and thus makes use of the very sensitive mode. Excellent pressure stability can be achieved, with devices showing a pressure dependency of 0.04 dB/MPa. The device has a flat frequency response from less than 1 Hz to several kHz and a density in the region of 1800 kg/m3, making it suitable for application in low-frequency sonar  相似文献

According to the characteristics of submerged floating tunnel anchored by tension legs,simplifying the tube as point mass and assuming that the tension leg is a nonlinear beam model hinged at both ends,the nonlinear vibration equation of the tension leg is derived.The equation is solved by the Galerkin method and Runge Kutta method.Subsequently,numerical analysis of typical submerged floating tunnel tension leg is carried out.It is shown that,the parametric vibration response of the submerged floating tunnel tension leg is related to the amplitude and frequency of the end excitation.Without considering axial resonance and transverse resonance,it is reasonable that higher order modes are abandoned and only the first three modes are considered.The axial resonance amplitude of the second or third order mode is equivalent to the first order mode axial resonance amplitude,which should not be ignored.  相似文献

This study investigates the two-dimensional static mechanics of an axially moving cable used in a two-ship continuous line bucket (CLB) system for exploiting mineral resources deposited on the sea floor. The aim of this study is to formulate a theory for estimating the grounding length of the cable. The theory is governed by the relation for the static equilibrium of forces acting on the cable and geometrical conditions imposed on the submerged length of the cable and on the distance between the two ships supporting the cable. Two algorithms involving a couple of iterations are developed for obtaining the grounding length. The calculation using the algorithm shows that the grounding length varies in response to changes in the rate of collection by the bucket and the bucket interval. The calculation also demonstrates that the maximum grounding length is determined on the basis of the geometry of the submerged part and that the grounding length ranges from zero to the maximum depending on the distance between the two ships.  相似文献

A series of physical tests are conducted to examine the characteristics of the wave loading exerted on circular-front breakwaters by regular waves. It is found that the wave trough instead of wave crest plays a major role in the failure of submerged circular caissons due to seaward sliding. The difference in the behavior of seaward and shoreward horizontal wave forces is explained based on the variations of dynamic pressure with wave parameters. A wave load model is proposed based on a modified first-order solution for the dynamic pressure on submerged circular-front caissons under a wave trough. This wave loading model is very useful for engineering design. Further studies are needed to include model uncertainties in the reliability assessment of the breakwater.  相似文献

The relationship between the depth and trail attained by a towed submerged vehicle and the magnitude and direction of the forces on it has been examined theoretically, for cases involving faired cables.It is shown that when the body force is varied the body in equilibrium moves on an almost circular path as if the cable were straight, and that depth changes depend primarily upon the change in the component of the body force that acts at right angles to the line joining the top and bottom of the cable.Examples are given which demonstrate that for bodies towed at large depression angles the use of water brakes is more effective in changing depth than the use of lifting wings.The data is presented so that a rapid preliminary assessment can be made of any proposed system to obtain the best combination of speed and scope for achieving a given depth with a body having known lift and drag coefficients.  相似文献

Forced vibrations of the walls of a vertical cylindrical shell under the impact of a breaking wave are studied theoretically. The wave action is modelled as a pressure distribution which varies in time and space. A linear dynamic analysis of the transient response is carried out by means of the modal superposition technique, in which the static stresses are considered. The results show that in thin shells, the transient displacements could be of the order of the thickness of the shell. It is suggested that these large displacements could play an important role in eroding the buckling capacity of the structural component. The problem of limiting the dynamic displacements is discussed by interaction diagrams for static axial load-dynamic lateral pressure, and by examination of the confluence of shell and wave parameters for which the transient displacements do not exceed a given value.  相似文献

This paper describes the life testing of a 35-kV power cable that will connect a single anchor leg mooring (SALM) buoy with a platform in several hundred feet of water. While there are many power cable installations to offshore platforms and between platforms, this system is unique because the cable will be constantly flexing in compression as the mooring buoy moves in the water. The buoy design includes an articulated leg with universal joints to which the cable is clamped. It is the loop in the cable where it crosses a universal joint that is flexed, and is a major cause of concern. To predict the effects of this constant flexure while energized, a flex simulator and electrical circuit were devised to duplicate the service environment as closely as possible. This paper describes the cable system, the test apparatus and procedure, and the results obtained.  相似文献

In the present research, effect of silica fume as an additive and oil polluted sands as aggregates on compressive strength of concrete were investigated experimentally. The amount of oil in the designed mixtures was assumed to be constant and equal to 2% of the sand weight. Silica fume accounting for 10%, 15% and 20% of the weight is added to the designed mixture. After preparation and curing, concrete specimens were placed into the three different conditions: fresh, brackish and saltwater environments (submerged in fresh water, alternation of exposed in air & submerged in sea water and submerged in sea water). The result of compressive strength tests shows that the compressive strength of the specimens consisting of silica fume increases significantly in comparison with the control specimens in all three environments. The compressive strength of the concrete with 15% silica fume content was about 30% to 50% higher than that of control specimens in all tested environments under the condition of using polluted aggregates in the designed mixture.  相似文献

Experiments were made on plain concrete subjected to triaxial static loading and constant-amphtude compressive fatigue loading with a constant lateral pressure in two directions. The initial confining pressure was O, O. lfc, O. 25fc and O. 4fc, respectively, for the static test, and O. lfc and O. 25fc for the fatigue test. Based on the triaxial compressive constitutive behavior of concrete, the inflexion of confining pressure evolution was chosen to be the fatigue damage criterion during the test. The rule of evolution of longitudinal maximum and minimum strains, longitudinal cyclic modulus and damage were recorded and analyzed. According to the Fardis-Chen criterion model and the concept of equivalent fatigue life and equivalent stress level, a unified S-N curve for multi-axial compressive fatigue loading was proposed. Thus, the fatigue strength factors for different fatigue loading cases can be obtained. The present investigation provides information for the fatigue design of concrete structures.  相似文献

This paper presents the results from an experimental investigation of the pressure-induced forces in the core material below the main armour layer and shear stresses on the armour layer for a porous breakwater structure. Two parallel experiments were performed which both involved pore pressure measurements in the core material: (1) core material with an idealized armour layer made out of spherical objects that also allowed for detailed velocity measurements between and above the armour, and (2) core material with real rock armour stones. The same core material was applied through the entire structure i.e. no additional filter layers were applied. For both experiments, high-speed video recordings were synchronised with the pressure measurements for a detailed investigation of the coupling between the run-up and run-down flow processes and the measured pressure variations. Outward directed pressure gradients were found which exerted a lift force up to ≈ 60% of the submerged weight of the core material. These maximum outward directed pressure gradients were linked to the maximum run-down event and were in general situated at, or slightly below, the maximum run-down level. Detailed velocity and turbulence measurements showed that the large outward directed pressure gradients in general coincide, both in time and space, with the maximum bed-shear stresses on the armour layer based on the Reynolds-stresses. The bed-shear stresses were found to result in a Shields parameter in the same order of magnitude as the critical value for movement of the armour stones.  相似文献

Recent experimental data collected during the DELOS project are used to validate two approaches for simulating waves and currents in the vicinity of submerged breakwaters.The first approach is a phase-averaged method in which a wave model is used to simulate wave transformation and calculate radiation stresses, while a flow model (2-dimensional depth averaged or quasi-3D) is used to calculate the resulting wave driven currents. The second approach is a phase resolving method in which a high order 2DH-Boussinesq-type model is used to calculate the waves and flow.The models predict wave heights that are comparable to measurements if the wave breaking sub-model is properly tuned for dissipation over the submerged breakwater. It is shown that the simulated flow pattern using both approaches is qualitatively similar to that observed in the experiments. Furthermore, the phase-resolving model shows good agreement between measured and simulated instantaneous surface elevations in wave flume tests.  相似文献

针对水下系泊监测平台在水流涡激作用下的稳定性问题,考虑了浮体在振动过程中的变形,建立了其流固耦合的非线性动力学方程,利用谐波平衡法进行了非线性特性定性分析,Melnikov方法进行稳定性判据研究及影响因素分析,以系统出现混沌状态为稳定性控制条件,重点研究了系泊缆支撑间距对稳定性的影响,并计算出支撑间距的临界值。结果表明,系统稳定性随支撑间距增加而降低,当支撑间距超过临界值后,稍微增加都可能导致系泊监测平台振动偏离振动轨道而造成局部失稳甚至结构破坏。为保证监测平台的稳定性,应增加支撑数量,且支撑的间距不能超过系统发生失稳的临界值。  相似文献

为解决不埋深海管道在温压荷载循环作用下,轴向移动量不断累积的问题,采用数值模拟方法,在论证了钢悬链线立管(steel catenary riser,SCR)张力相比于其他因素对管道轴向移动影响更为显著的基础上,针对一端受到SCR张力作用的短管,分析了不同轴向移动消减方案的作用特点。研究表明,对管道进行锚固能有效约束其轴向移动,且在中部锚固需要的锚固力及管道内产生的有效轴向力均较小;滑动基础可通过释放一定的管道位移量来减少管中的应力累积。因此将中部锚固与端部滑动相结合可优化锚固系统,使锚固力进一步下降54%,管中最大有效轴向压力减小33%,从而最有效地消减轴向移动。  相似文献

The strength of lightweight concrete under triaxial compressive stress is studied experimentally with the concrete triaxial apparatus designed by the authors, and is compared with that of normal concrete under the same stress state. Ninety-five 100 mm cubes under twenty stress ratios are tested. As compared with normal concrete, it is found that not only the multiaxial compressive strength of lightweight concrete is small, but also the ratio of the multiaxial compressive strength to the uniaxial compressive strength is small. The influence of the intermediate principal stress on the multiaxial strength of lightweight concrete is discussed. The strength criteria which are expressed in the principal stresses and the octahedral stresses respectively are proposed.  相似文献

分析了上海石化总厂化工物料码头周围水下地形工程前后的变化。指出在淤泥质岸段,由于沿岸工程的影响,造成工程附近水域动力环境的改变,水下地形随之作出相应的调整。特别在淤泥质岸段附近流急、含沙量高的水域中构筑沿岸工程,工程的水流下方一侧,水流减缓,水流挟沙能力大大减弱,出现明显的局部淤浅地形,为提高工程效益,对各工程之间的相互影响,应予以重视。  相似文献
