The Río Negro-Juruena Province (RNJP) occupies a large portion of the western part of the Amazonian Craton and is a zone of complex granitization and migmatization. Regional metamorphism, in general, occurred in the upper amphibolite facies. The granites and gneisses of the RNJP yield Rb-Sr and Pb-Pb whole-rock isochron dates ranging from 1.8 Ga to 1.55 Ga, with initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios of ~ 0.703 and a single-stage model μ1 value of ~ 8.1. In order to improve the geochronological control, SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages, conventional U-Pb zircon ages, and additional Pb-Pb whole-rock isochron ages were determined for samples of granitoids and gneisses from the Papuri-Uaupés and Guaviare-Orinoco rivers areas (northern part of the province) and Jamari-Machado rivers and Pontes de Lacerda areas (southern part). The granitoids from the northern part of the province yield conventional U-Pb zircon ages of 1709 ± 17 Ma and 1521 ± 31 Ma, and SHRIMP U-Pb concordant zircon results of 1800 ± 18 Ma. Samples of gneissic rocks from the southern part of the RNJP yielded SHRIMP U-Pb concordant ages of 1750 ± 24 Ma and 1570 ± 17 Ma and a Pb-Pb whole-rock isochron age of 1717 ± 120 Ma. These new U-Pb and Pb-Pb results confirm the previous Rb-Sr and Pb-Pb geochronological evidence that the main magmatic episodes within the RNJP occurred between 1.8 and 1.55 Ga, and suggest that this crustal province constitutes a segment of continental crust newly added to the Amazonian Craton at the end of the Early Proterozoic. In the area of the RNJP, there are several anorogenic rapakivi-type granite plutons. Because of the absence of recognized Archean material within the basement rocks, it is reasonable to consider the Early to Middle Proterozoic continental crust as the magmatic source for the rapakivi granite intrusions.  相似文献

Field mapping and structural studies in northern Sierra Leone by an I.G.S. team have established a stratigraphic sequence in this part of the Archaean of the West African Craton. An older “Leonian” granite-greenstone terrain is identified which experienced a tectonic-metamorphic event before the formation of the granite-greenstone terrain which ended with the Liberian tectonic-metamorphic event. Granite gneisses in the Fadugu district with Leonian structures yield statistically acceptable but discordant Pb-Pb and Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron ages of 2959±50 Ma and 2753±61 Ma, respectively (2 σ errors). These ages may be correlated with radiometric ages for the Leonian and Liberian structures elsewhere in Sierra Leone, and it is concluded that the Fadugu Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron has been reset by the Liberian event. The Pb-Pb whole-rock isochron for the Fadugu gneisses and a previously determined (but recomputed and partially checked) Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron age of 2980+80 Ma for granite gneisses from southeastern Sierra Leone provide a definitive age for the Leonian tectonic-metamorphic event at about 2970 Ma. Both the initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios and present-day first-stage model 238U/204Pb value for the Leonian granitoids are indistinguishable from mantle values, but do not preclude the possibility that these granitoids were derived from parental material with a short history in the crust or lower crust. The Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron age of 2753+61 Ma for the Fadugu granite gneiss provides a definitive age for the Liberian event in northern Sierra Leone. A succession of rocks older than the Leonian (i.e., older than 2970 Ma) has been identified in the field but not yet dated.  相似文献

The U-Pb ages of zircons from seven felsic volcanic and plutonic rocks from northern Zimbabwe combined with field data and Pb-Pb and Sm-Nd whole-rock isotope data, constrain the timespan of development of the Harare-Shamva granite-greenstone terrain and establish the relative involvement of juvenile mantle-derived and reworked crustal material. Basement-cover field relationships and isotope and geochemical data demonstrate that the greenstones were deposited onto 3.2–2.8 Ga basement gneisses, in ensialic, continental basins. Geodynamic models for the generation of the areally extensive bimodal magmatic products and growth of the pre-existing crustal nucleus consistent with our interpretations are rift-related: (1) intracontinental rifting related to mantle plume activity or; (2) rifting in a back-arc environment related to a marginal volcanic arc. The data, in conjunction with field evidence, do not indicate the presence and accretion of an older (ca. 2.70 Ga) and a younger (ca. 2.65 Ga) greenstone sequence in the Harare part of the greenstone belt, as was recently postulated on the basis of SHRIMP zircon ages. Zircon ages for basal felsic volcanics (2715±15 Ma) and a subvolcanic porphyry (2672±12 Ma) constrain the initiation and termination of deposition of the greenstone sequence. The timespan of deposition of the Upper Bulawayan part of the greenstone sequence corresponds well with radiometric ages for Upper Bulawayan greenstones in the central and southern part of the craton and supports the concept of craton-wide lithostratigraphic correlations for the late Archaean in Zimbabwe. Zircon ages for a syn-tectonic gneiss (2667±4 Ma) and a late syn-tectonic intrusive granodiorite (2664±15 Ma) pinpoint the age of deformation of the greenstone sequence and compare well with a Pb-Pb age of shear zone related gold mineralization (2659±13 Ma) associated with the latter intrusive phase. The intimate timing relation of greenstone deformation and granitoid emplacement, but also the metamorphic evidence for a thermal effect of the batholiths on the surrounding greenstone belts, and the structural and strain patterns in the greenstone sequence around and adjacent to the batholiths, imply that the intrusion of the granitoids had a significant influence on the tectono-thermal evolution of the greenstone belt. Prolonged magmatic activity is indicated by the zircon ages of small, post-tectonic plutons intrusive into the greenstone belt, with a mineralized granodiorite dated at 2649±6 Ma and an unmineralized tonalite at 2618± 6 Ma. The 2601±14 Ma crystallization age of an “external” Chilimanzi-type granite agrees well with existing radiometric ages for similar granites within the southern part of the craton, demonstrating a craton-wide event and heralding cratonization. The similarity between U-Pb zircon ages and TDM model ages (2.65–2.62 Ga) and the positive ɛNdT values (+3 to +2) for the late syn-tectonic and post-tectonic intrusive plutons within the greenstone belt indicate magmatism was derived directly from the mantle or by anatexis of lower crustal sources, with very short crustal residence times, and minor contamination with older crust. The rather high model μ1 values (8.2–8.6) are unlikely to indicate the involvement of significant amounts of older crust and may be inherited from a high U/Pb mantle source, as was suggested by previous workers for the Archaean mantle beneath Southern Africa. The older TDM ages for the felsic volcanics (3.0–2.8 Ga) and the porphyries (2.8–2.7 Ga) suggest that these felsic magmas were derived by partial melting of a source that was extracted from the mantle ca. 200 Ma prior to volcanism or may indicate interaction between depleted mantle-derived melts and older crustal material. Many granitic bodies intrude the basement gneisses in Meghalaya Plateau, Northeast India. Rb-Sr whole-rock isotopic ages of the granitoids range from 881 to 479 Ma while the ages of the basement orthogneisses vary from 1714 to 1150 Ma. All the plutons are dominantly metaluminous and show geochemical variation. Oxygen isotopic compositions in the granitoids and gneisses are concordant (d18O: + 5.78% to + 8.70%). However, the gneisses from high-grade terrain have low d18O value of +2.52% to +5.31%. Initial 87Sr/86Sr (ISr) ratios of the plutons vary from 0.70459 to 0.71487 and tend to increase with progressive younging in age. The geochemical characters suggest derivation of the granites from lower crustal source. The fractionated rare earth patterns observed in the granitoids can be obtained by partial melting of gneisses or diorites. Some gneiss samples have experienced interaction with hydrothermal fluids resulting in lowering d18O. The isotopic ages of granite plutonism in Meghalaya are similar to the plutonic and tectonothermal events in other parts of India, southwestern Australia and document final amalgamation events of the Gondwana Supercontinent.  相似文献

Ion probe U‐Th‐Pb dating of zircons from the Late Archaean granites of the Norseman region of the southeastern Yilgarn shows the existence of two distinct magmatic episodes. Large regional tonalite and granodiorite plutons were emplaced between 2685 and 2690 Ma, whereas large regional granite, and small tonalite and leucogranite plutons that intrude the greenstones have ages of 2660–2665 Ma. A small body of granite that intrudes the western edge of the greenstones has an inferred emplacement of 2672 ± 7Ma, and contains inherited zircon that is ~2800 Ma. The monzogranite core from a second pluton in a similar structural position also contains ~2800 Ma zircon; this age is similar to published Sm‐Nd and Rb‐Sr whole rock ages for banded gneisses associated with other members of this suite of domal plutons and is interpreted as representing the age of a significant component within the source region for these distinctive rocks.

Available geochemical and isotopic data are interpreted as indicating derivation of both the older granodiorite and younger granite suites through anatexis of pre‐existing crust of broadly andesitic composition, whereas both the domal granites and the small, late tonalite plutons could have been derived by anatexis of heterogeneous material similar to that represented by the banded gneisses.

If regional metamorphism was related to the emplacement of large volumes of felsic magma within the upper crust, as suggested by Binns et al. (1976), then the Norseman area has probably undergone two periods of regional metamorphism of comparable intensity at approximately 2660 and 2685 Ma.  相似文献

The Archean basement of Sierra Leone is a typical example of granite-greenstone terrains found in ancient continental nucleii. Reconnaissance field mapping showed that the area can be subdivided into old gneiss, which predates the greenstone belts, and young granite which is later than the greenstone belts.New Rb-Sr whole-rock age determinations on two suites of old tonalitic gneiss yield ages of 2786 ± 49 Ma and 2770 ± 137 Ma, which either reflect the time of formation of the original tonalites or their metamorphism. Three new Rb-Sr whole-rock age determination on young granites yield ages of 2786 ± 143 Ma, 2780 ± 79 Ma and 2770 ± 50 Ma, which are interpreted as the time of emplacement. The widespread occurrence of similar young granites, throughout the Archaean of West Africa, suggests that these results date a major event in the evolution of this segment of the crust.A published Pb-Pb age of the old gneiss and the new ages of the young granite bracket the age of the greenstone belts to 3000-2770 Ma. However, if the Rb-Sr ages of the old gneiss reported in this paper reflect the time of their formation, the age of the greenstone belts is tightly bracketed to ca. 2770 Ma. There is no isotopic evidence for rocks substantially older than 3000 Ma in the West African Archaean.  相似文献

Twenty granodioritic rocks and one amphibolitic enclave of the “basement” of the Suomussalmi-Kuhmo Archaean (2.65 Ga) greenstone belts (central-eastern Finland), have been chosen together with one greenstone sample for Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd geochronological and isotopic studies. The granitoïd rocks are subdivided into three groups: two generations of grey gneisses and a post-belt augen gneiss. The Rb-Sr ages of the first and second generation of grey gneisses are 2.86 ± 0.09 and 2.62 ± 0.07 Ga, respectively. These results are corroborated by Sm-Nd data. The post-belt augen gneiss gives an age of 2.51 ± 0.11 Ga. The results show that the two generations of grey gneisses, the greenstone belts and the post-greenstone augen gneiss, were developed over a period > 350 Ma. The two generations of grey gneisses show identical ISr values (0.7023 ± 8 and 0.7024 ± 6) which contrast with that of the augen gneiss (0.7049 ± 8). The low ISr and the near-chondritic ?TCHUR values indicate that the grey gneisses cannot derived from much older continental materials. Trace element studies suggest that these grey gneisses have had a multi-stage development. The augen gneiss with a moderately high ISr is likely to be derived from a granodiorite originated by partial melting of older sialic crust. The more probable parent rock seems to be the first generation grey gneisses. The ISr and average Rb/Sr values preclude the greenstone belt and the second generation of grey gneisses as the protolith.  相似文献

Sm-Nd, Lu-Hf and Pb-Pb isotopic signatures were determined for gneisses and felsic plutons of the La Grande granite-greenstone and the Nemiscau metasedimentary belts of Canada. The northern part of the La Grande belt exposes gneisses of the Langelier complex formed between ca. 2.8 and 2.9 Ga. The gneisses yielded εNd(T) values between −2 and +1, εHf(T) between −1 and +3, initial 207Pb/204Pb ratios of ∼14.9, higher than the value of 14.6 derived from the Stacey-Kramers growth curve, and crustal extraction ages ≥3.0 Ga. Modeling shows that the syn- to late-tectonic intrusions of granitoid rocks record at least 20%, and up to 40%, recycling of this gneissic basement. The southern part of the La Grande belt, where no basement gneisses are exposed, records lower proportions (5-20%) of this crustal end-member. In both parts of the La Grande belt, the post-tectonic plutons record the largest proportion of recycled crust, likely related to southeastward thrusting events in the Superior craton, crustal thickening and concomitant partial melting. The La Grande plutons have isotopic signatures more radiogenic than those of similar intrusions that formed concurrently, to the south, in the Abitibi greenstone belt. This reflects an ancient crust environment for the former vs. an oceanic setting for the latter. Mantle reservoirs with a protracted history of incompatible element depletion were present beneath the whole eastern Superior Province, in the late Archean.  相似文献

This work provides unequivocal evidence of the existence of Mesoarchean granulite facies metamorphic event in the Palghat-Cauvery Shear Zone (PCSZ) of South India. Charnockite samples from two prominent hills at Kollaimalai (KM) and Pachchaimalai (PM) as well as from two quarries within the Bhavani Shear Zone (BSZ) have been analyzed for their Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr ages to investigate the existence or otherwise of the Archean granulite facies events within the PCSZ. The Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron ages for massive charnockites from both the hills appear to be contemporaneous at 2.9 Ga with the initial Sr isotopic ratios of 0.7012 and 0.7014, respectively. However, the Rb-Sr data for whole-rock samples of basic granulites from one of the quarries within the BSZ indicate open system behavior, while the charnockites from the other quarry have insufficient spread in 87Rb/86Sr ratios and do not yield any isochron. The Sm-Nd data, on the other hand, do not distinguish between the massive charnockite and the lowland charnockite and yield Depleted Mantle model ages in the range 2.98±0.3 Ga for all of them. The ɛT CHUR for all of these rocks are highly positive. Both the Sr isotopic ratios and positive ɛT CHUR values for these rocks strongly suggest a mantle source for all of them. An upper age limit of ∼3.28 Ga may be assigned to the crustal accretion of the protolith of all these rocks on the basis of their Nd model ages. The Rb-Sr isochron ages of 2.9 Ga for the two massifs could be the age of granulite facies metamorphism. Thus, the metamorphism in the KM and PM Hills took place within ∼100 Ma of crustal accretion of these rocks and probably was part of the same geological event of crust formation and metamorphism. The open system behavior with respect to Rb-Sr isotopes in the basic granulite from Bhavani is possibly due to the migration of Sr isotopes, triggered during the later shearing of these rocks.  相似文献

Petrological studies on the surrounding metamorphic rocks of the Eppawala carbonatite body, Wanni complex, Sri Lanka, revealed that these rocks had been metamorphosed under amphibolite to granulite facies conditions. Garnet-sillimanite-biotite gneiss shows lower range of metamorphic temperature (730–770°C) than the migmatite gneiss (750–780°C) and the pressure varies from 6.6–7.8 kbar to 5.6–6.4 kbar respectively. The metamorphic age of the garnet-sillimanite-biotite gneiss and migmatite gneiss dated 607±23 Ma and 626±16 Ma, respectively for mineral — whole rock isochron in Sm-Nd system. These ages are compatible with the ages of regional high-grade metamorphism occurred 610–550 Ma in the three crustal units in Sri Lanka.Rb-Sr system for biotite, apatite and whole-rock fractions suggests 493±5 Ma for the Eppawala carbonatite body. This age indicates the cooling age of the biotite. The presence of non-crystalline carbonatite matrix and large hexagonal apatite crystals suggests a slow cooling history. Further, low closure temperature of biotite in Rb-Sr system suggests that the intrusion age of carbonatite body should be more than 493 Ma, but non-metamorphosed nature provides evidence that the intrusion age of the carbonatite body should be less than the period of regional metamorphism 610–550 Ma. Therefore, Eppawala carbonatite body has a strong possibility to be a late to post magmatic intrusion. The other late to post magmatic intrusions in the Wanni complex and Highland complex are dated between 580–550 Ma. Therefore, the most probable intrusion age of the Eppawala carbonatite body is suggested to be around 550 Ma.  相似文献

Uranium-lead, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd isotopic analyses have been performed on the same whole-rock, mineral, and leachate fractions of the basaltic martian meteorite Zagami to better constrain the U-Pb isotopic systematics of martian materials. Although the Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd systems define concordant crystallization ages of 166 ± 6 Ma and 166 ± 12 Ma, respectively, the U-Pb isotopic system is disturbed. Nevertheless, an age of 156 ± 6 Ma is derived from the 238U-206Pb isotopic system from the purest mineral fractions (maskelynite and pyroxene). The concordance of these three ages suggest that the 238U-206Pb systematics of the purest Zagami mineral fractions have been minimally disturbed by alteration and impact processes, and can therefore be used to constrain the behavior of U and Pb in the Zagami source region. The μ value of the Zagami source region can be estimated, with some confidence from the 238U-206Pb isochron, to be 3.96 ± 0.02. Disturbance of the U-Pb isotopic systems means that this represents a minimum value. The μ value of the Zagami source is significantly lower than the μ values estimated for most basaltic magma sources from Earth and the Moon. This is surprising given the high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio (0.721566 ± 82) and low initial εNd value (−7.23 ± 0.17) determined for Zagami that indicate that this sample is derived from one of the most highly fractionated reservoirs from any known planetary body. This suggests that Mars is characterized by a low bulk planet U/Pb ratio, a feature that is consistent with its relatively volatile-rich nature. The leachates contain terrestrial common Pb that was probably added to the meteorite during handling, curation, or sawing. The mineral fractions, particularly those with significant amounts of impact melt glass, contain a second contaminant. The presence of this contaminant results in Pb-Pb ages that are older than the crystallization age of Zagami, indicating that the contaminant is characterized by a high 207Pb/206Pb ratio. Such a contaminant could be produced by removal of single-stage Pb from a relatively high μ martian reservoir before ∼1.8 Ga, and therefore could be an ancient manifestation of hydrous alteration of martian surface material.  相似文献

The Mount Athos Peninsula is situated in the south-easternmost part of the Chalkidiki Peninsula in northern Greece. It belongs to the Serbo-Macedonian Massif (SMM), a large basement massif within the Internal Hellenides. The south-eastern part of the Mount Athos peninsula is built by fine-grained banded biotite gneisses and migmatites forming a domal structure. The southern tip of the peninsula, which also comprises Mount Athos itself, is built by limestone, marble and low-grade metamorphic rocks of the Chortiatis Unit. The northern part and the majority of the western shore of the Mount Athos peninsula are composed of highly deformed rocks belonging to a tectonic mélange termed the Athos-Volvi-Suture Zone (AVZ), which separates two major basement units: the Vertiskos Terrane in the west and the Kerdillion Unit in the east. The rock-types in this mélange range from metasediments, marbles and gneisses to amphibolites, eclogites and peridotites. The gneisses are tectonic slivers of the adjacent basement complexes. The mélange zone and the gneisses were intruded by granites (Ierissos, Ouranoupolis and Gregoriou). The Ouranoupolis intrusion obscures the contact between the mélange and the gneisses. The granites are only slightly deformed and therefore postdate the accretionary event that assembled the units and created the mélange. Pb–Pb- and U–Pb-SHRIMP-dating of igneous zircons of the gneisses and granites of the eastern Athos peninsula in conjunction with geochemical and isotopic analyses are used to put Athos into the context of a regional tectonic model. The ages form three clusters: The basement age is indicated by two samples that yielded Permo-Carboniferous U–Pb-ages of 292.6?±?2.9?Ma and 299.4?±?3.5?Ma. The main magmatic event of the granitoids now forming the gneiss dome is dated by Pb–Pb-ages between 140.0?±?2.6?Ma and 155.7?±?5.1?Ma with a mean of 144.7?±?2.4?Ma. A within-error identical age of 146.6?±?2.3?Ma was obtained by the U–Pb-SHRIMP method. This Late Jurassic age is also known from the Kerdillion Unit and the Rhodope Terrane. The rather undeformed granites are interpreted as piercing plutons. The small granite stocks sampled have Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary ages of 66.8?±?0.8?Ma and 68.0?±?1.0?Ma (U–Pb-SHRIMP)/62.8?±?3.9?Ma (Pb–Pb). The main accretionary event was according to these data in the Late Jurassic since all younger rocks show little or no deformation. The age distribution together with the geochemical and isotopic signature and the lithology indicates that the eastern part of the Mount Athos peninsula is part of a large-scale gneiss dome also building the Kerdillion Unit of the eastern SMM and the Rhodope Massif. This finding extends the area of this dome significantly to the south and indicates that the tectonic boundary between the SMM and the Rhodope Massif lies within the AVZ.  相似文献

Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd isotopic studies were carried out for metamorphic rocks in the Namaqualand Metamorphic Complex, South Africa. The metamorphic rocks give the Rb-Sr mineral isochron ages (whole-rock - biotite - felsic fractions) of 844±85 Ma and 811.6±6.6 Ma for the lower granulite zone and of 776.5±5.4 Ma for the upper granulite zone. The rocks yield the Sm-Nd mineral isochron ages of 1071±18 Ma (whole-rock - garnet - felsic fractions) and 1067±158 Ma (whole-rock - hornblende - biotite rich fraction - felsic fractions) for the lower granulite zone and of 1052.0±3.6 Ma and 1002.5±1.4 Ma (whole-rock - garnet - felsic fractions) for the upper granulite zone. These age data suggest that the granulite facies metamorphism took place at 1060-1000 Ma, and that the rocks cooled down at 850-780 Ma. The Sr and Nd isotopic compositions of metamorphic rocks are different between the lower and upper granulite zones.  相似文献

The comprehensive results of whole-rock Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr and zircon Pb-Pb dating suggest that the Qinling Group in the Qinling orogenic belt, northwestern Henan was formed at about 1200 Ma. The complex in the interior of the orogenic belt experienced strong reworking in response to two great thermal cycles — the Jinningian and Caledonian cycles. Further disintegration of the Qinling Group delineated at present seems highly possible.  相似文献

Absolute ages of granite magmatism, as well as of tungsten mineralization, are poorly constrained in the Mongolian Altai and adjacent areas. There are no reports focusing on special isotopic investigations of the tungsten deposits. For the deposits in the Achit nuur and the Zagaan-Shibetin tectonic zones, two concepts that are discussed in the literature assume Paleozoic or Mesozoic ages for mineralization and related granite magmatism. We report the first results of a combined Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr isotope investigation of rocks and vein minerals of the Ulaan uul tungsten deposit at Kyzyltau; the results suggest Paleozoic ages for vein mineralization and for albitization of the host granite. The Sm-Nd isotope system, and the structure of vein minerals used for isotopic dating, were only slightly affected by late alteration processes. Sm-Nd mineral isochrons for wolframite and fluorite from the veins define an age of 303 ± 17 Ma (MSWD = 1.8, εNd = +0.9 ± 0.2). The Rb-Sr isotope system of the vein-hosting granite was strongly influenced by alteration processes. The Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron (282.2 ± 2.4 Ma, Sri = 0.70667 ± 0.00032, MSWD = 0.53) is interpreted as a mixing line and the age so defined has no direct geological meaning. Nevertheless, using Rb-Sr model ages and data on the degree of alteration of the samples, an age somewhat below 316 Ma can be estimated for albitization of the vein-hosting granite. This age estimation is in good agreement with the Sm-Nd isochron age for the vein mineralization. High εNd values obtained for wolframite and fluorite from the ore veins indicate an important role for material derived from the upper mantle in the ore formation processes.  相似文献

The isotope geochemistry (Sm-Nd, Pb-Pb and Rb-Sr) of mafic gneisses from the basement of the Carswell structure (Saskatchewan, Canada), rich both in Mg and incompatible elements (K, Rb, REE) has been investigated. A good Sm-Nd alignment gives a slope corresponding to an age of 3.7 Ga. However, comparison with major elements data strongly suggests that this alignment is a mixing line between Mg-rich, high CaO/Al2O3 magmas and the local felsic crust older than 2.9 Ga. The mafic magmas were probably of komatiitic affinity (MgO > 20 percent) but, nevertheless, were extracted from a source with nearly chondritic to slightly enriched light REE distribution. The age of the komatiite emplacement (1.9–2.9 Ga) is only loosely constrained by the oldest crustal residence age in the series and the subsequent metamorphic events. The granulite facies climax is dated at ca. 1.9 Ga by concordant whole rock Pb-Pb and Sm-Nd garnet-whole rock isochrons. The Rb-Sr systematics have been disturbed by later event(s) younger than 1.5–1.7 Ga, but do not permit a more precise assessment of the perturbation age.  相似文献

On the eastern extremity of the Jiaodong peninsula, China, shoshonitic magmas have been injected into the supracrustal rocks of the Sulu ultra-high pressure (UHP) terrane during the crustal exhumation phase. These granitoids (collectively termed the Shidao igneous complex or Jiazishan alkaline complex) show geochemical and isotopic signatures of an enriched subcontinental lithospheric mantle and intruded soon after the subducted Yangtze crust had reached peak metamorphic pressure conditions (240–220 Ma). We have applied various geochronometers to an alkali-gabbro sample from the Jiazishan pluton and the results allow reconstruction of the Triassic-to-present thermal history. Initial rapid cooling of the gabbro at crustal depths is indicated by the close agreement between the Sm-Nd mineral isochron age (228?±?36 Ma) and the Rb-Sr biotite age (207?±?1) Ma. This interpretation is confirmed by previously published U-Pb zircon ages (225–209 Ma), and 40Ar/39Ar amphibole and K-feldspar ages (~214 Ma) from the Jiazishan syenites. A titanite fission-track age of 166?±?8 Ma (closure temperature range 285–240°C) records widespread Jurassic magmatism in the Jiaodong peninsula, indicating that the gabbro reached upper crustal levels before it was reheated by nearby Jurassic plutons. A subsequent cooling and reheating event is indicated by an apatite fission-track age of 106?±?6 Ma which coincides with the emplacement of the adjacent Weideshan pluton (108?±?2 Ma) and postdates a period of regional lithospheric thinning beneath eastern China. A period of slow cooling (or thermal stability) from late Cretaceous to early Tertiary, documented by an apatite (U-Th)/He age of 39?±?5 Ma, was followed by a final stage of more enhanced cooling since the late Eocene. Results of this work imply that the eastern Sulu terrane has experienced a complex cooling and reheating history. Our data are consistent with a model of initial rapid cooling (sudden exhumation) of the UHP terrane, driven by the release of buoyancy forces, followed by two progressively slower cooling intervals (both after renewed crustal reheating) during the Jurassic and Cretaceous.  相似文献
